I agree, I think Knox and the run game will be bigger parts of tonight's game plan than last week. Not suggesting that they intentionally didn't get Knox or the RB's more involved, just the way game flowed. I think our rookies will make an impact tonight too though. I think Shakir will be active and get some game action, and I think we will see Cook start to become a receiving weapon out of the back field. Davis is an important piece to the offense, but we have a lot of playmakers on this team outside just WR, so I think we will still win decisively tonight if Davis misses the game as expected.

I get why you think this off the first glance, but these numbers lack important context that shows why Davis is quite a bit more important today than this shows. This year, he is the #2 WR and we don't have a defined #3 behind him either like in years past when we had Beasley. For example, when John Brown was hurt, we still had Diggs and Beasley, plus a rookie Davis who was pretty good...when Sanders was hurt, we still had Diggs, Davis and Beasley. Right now, we just have Diggs with Davis out...and then a collection of guys in the slot who have not proven themselves yet as heavy target share players with Allen and this offense in McKenzie, Crowder, and Shakir. Any one of these guys could step up and have a big game, but we won't really know how much this offense misses David until we see how one or all of these guys step up. So right now, Davis injury is more impactful because he is expected to take a chunk of the target share as we only have one WR in Diggs who has relevant experience as a heavy target share receiver in this offense with Allen. Now, that doesn't mean those guys won't step up, just means they are unproven in a significant role right now in this offense is all. Personally I do think we will see a big game from not only Diggs, but someone else like one of those 3 guys, and/or Knox, and we will decisively win this game by multiple scores.

Honestly, you were off to a promising start pointing out it won't be a cake walk, but also went too far when you said the ability to sweep is over, which is an over exaggeration to say the least. However, I think all the negative emoticons to the one solo like emoticon is too lopsided for this post, because there is some merit to it that a lot of people don't want to acknowledge. Yes, the Buffalo Bills are the most talented roster in the AFC East (any probably the NFL). There has only been 1 undefeated team in NFL history through to the SB, and that was in a 12 game season. Meaning, the best teams in the NFL lose games every season. Miami has played 8 quarters of football, and they looked meh for 6 of those quarters and dangerous for 2 of them. But, it was the 2 most recent quarters where they looked very dangerous. And why is that important, well, there are a lot of new pieces there including coaching. So we don't know if it was more about a Ravens D making mistakes, or did Miami start clicking in that second half and there is more play like to come vs the previous 6 quarters of MEH. Unfortunately we won't get to find out before we play them since the next time they step on the field is against the Bills. Divisional rivalry games are always in general tougher games. We managed to lose to the Jags last year, not because they were better, but we just didn't have it clicking that day. Any given Sunday is a motto in the NFL for a reason. So, end of the day, we are fully capable of sweeping the division, but at the same time it's not a given. We will be the favorites in those divisional games, but they won't all be a cake walk by default. Honestly, next week is the toughest divisional game of the season. It is in Miami where they have all that speed and we still do not have Tre on the field leaving us with 2 rookies spending time covering either Hill or Waddle alongside Dane. But if we win that game, then I think it is probable we will sweep the division. I really don't see us losing to the Pats or the Jets even though the Jets are a scrappy team, kind of like we were at in Josh's second season. I still think we go 6-0 in the division, this is a focused and hungry team pissed off and I bet feeling like 13 seconds cost them a SB last year, especially seeing how bad the Rams got beat by us and how bad the Bengals have looked to start the season.

I had optimistic expectations for Mitch. I thought he was going to surprise some people in Pitt this year and be a pretty solid player. I am rooting for his success. But after watch a game and a half of him play, I was saying at halftime they need to pull him and put in Pickett because I had bet on the Steelers to win that game and I no longer believe Mitch gave them the best chance to win that game. I would love to see Mitch have a great season there, but honestly, if I am Pitt, I haven't seen anything from Mitch that makes me think Pickett couldn't at the very least replicate those 2 games. And as an organization, I think I make the move now. This offense has been anemic with Mitch at the helm two straight weeks and he didn't exactly beat the rookie out and separate himself from Pickett in the preseason either. He got the job solely on veteran default because they played pretty much the same.

Charles Manson got fan letters daily. Fandom does not make him a good guy. The only subject of debate he is involved in is did he directly murder, assist in the murder, or have those 2 people murdered and get away with it. Literally nobody cares about how he compares to other Bills RB's, nor is debating it. He took what the system imposed on him? You realize he served no time right for the actual murders? And why exactly are you happy a man who almost certainly murdered 2 people or was directly involved found some peace? Why does he deserve peace? The families that lost 2 loved ones don't have peace, but you are happy he found peace? Sorry dude, this is a sad and disturbing take here. And let's say someone truly believes he was innocent...This man was a woman beater BEFORE the murders...not suspected, he is a known abuser to Nicole before he murdered them. Nothing about this man deserves peace, he was a POS before the murders and he has been nothing but a POS since the murders. He literally wrote a book about how he would have murdered her if he "had" done it. I mean come on.

Thank you Bill, and all the blessings to you and your family bud.

The African American community was definitely in a tough position during that case, and all because of OJ's defense team. Their vested interest was fueled by 200 years of social injustice in this country. With the racial tone OJ's defense took it making it about racist cops, this case for them became all about an African American against the corrupt system. It became less about him being guilty or innocent than it was seeing an African American getting a victory against a legal system that has been rigged against their people for pretty much all of the existence of the United States. So, even though I feel it's pretty obvious he is involved in the murder, most likely the murderer himself, I never faulted anyone from their community for rallying around the not-guilty verdict, as it gave them hope for change. And all these years later, some change has happened, but a lot more change is still needed within our policing and legal system when it comes to the fair treatment of minorities.
-
Does it though? That makes him an accomplice to murder at the very least. My father was murdered when I was 18, still unsolved today and I’m 46. I can tell you for a fact, had OJ been a fake fall guy just to beat the charges and cover up for his son who was the real murderer, that wouldn’t be a hero to me, that would be a murderers accomplice and I’d want justice against both of them. There is nothing about OJ that is a hero. He was a woman beater before the murders. He is a total piece of s**t and stunned people giving him sympathy like he got a raw deal here. Dude directly murdered 2 people (or helped cover up for his son murdering 2 people). He should be in jail for life…period. He did not serve his time. Those 2 murdered victims did not receive justice.

No we wanted to, but couldn’t make it happen, we had too much going on. But looking at either going to another one there or possibly the Chiefs game in KC.

Elmos was our favorite too when we were there last year for the home opener

Agreed on this. There isn't a single thing the other 2 can do that Allen cant also do at a high level. But there are things Allen can do, and does almost every game that no other QB can do. Also, I am going to say something right now that may see odd given the end to tonight's game. But Herbert plays a little bit soft...and he has some Jared Goff in him. STOP...don't reply yet and freak out...let me explain some things first: FIRST: Herbert is substantially better overall QB than Goff...I AM NOT comparing their overall talent, its not close. So don't reply with some outrage as if I just compared their abilities as QB's to be similar, that is NOT what I am talking about. Herbert is looking like a guy who will be in the top 5 QB list rest of his career. Goff is a 3rd tier starter. What I am talking about is... Hebert doesn't like to get hit. You start hitting him, he tends to panic throw, and we saw some of that tonight. And it's a trait that Goff had a lot of times in LA. As the game went on, KC was hitting Herbert a lot, and he started making a lot of bad decisions and poor throws as a result, even when the rush wasn't there. Last week, with the game tied 3-3, in the redzone on the 5 yard line, on 3rd down and 3 he scrambled against LV. He EASILY could get the first down needing just another yard while still running, but it meant he would get tackled instead of sliding. Like it was a 100% guaranteed first down, and might even get into the endzone. But he chose to give himself up and settle for 4th and 1 from the 3 yard line. NOW...he was BAILED out by a penalty on the play elsewhere on the field, and that gave them a free first and goal after the play and he would go on to throw a short TD. But he was so adverse to some contact he chose to give up on the first down, and possibly a TD and just immediately went to the ground to avoid the contact. I immediately went to the shout box and said that is the difference between Allen and Hebert right there. 100% of the time not only does Josh take the contact and get the first down, he probably gets the TD. Now tonight, its again 3rd down, down 2 scores with a must score situation with the game on the line. He could get on his hands and knees and crawl 5 yards past the first down marker. Yes his rib area was clearly affecting him, but he was so adverse to any contact, instead of taking the free first down, and this one he could have slid for it long before anyone got there, heck he could have almost just reached the ball out...he instead gives up the run right there to throw the ball away and force 4th down. And I 100% get he gritted out this game, and that certainly makes him look tough. And there is a certain toughness to him that kept him out there, no doubt. Not taking that away from him. But in important moments now, going back to last year, I see him play soft too many times or make a poor decision because he's been hit. The correct decision there was the free first down they badly needed as the game is practically over if they don't convert on 4th down. Dont get it twisted, in a league wide redraft, Herbert is my 3rd pick in the draft right after Allen number 1, Mahomes number 2. He is a tremendous talent. But for me, Allen and Mahomes are still in a class by themselves right now amongst all the young QB's in the league. They have another gear I haven't seen from Burrow or Hebert consistently enough. They have this extra layer of toughness, grit, and drive that separates them from the rest IMHO.

1. I won't be surprised to see Moss inactive this week, he had the worst game of any player on either side of the ball last week that included a turnover too.. Our RB's only ran the ball 15 times, Devin alone is more than capable of handling all 15, and Cook is more than capable of handling a few those himself if they want to spell Devin at all. Devin is by far the superior RB to Moss in just about every way, and I don't even have anything against Moss, just Devin is flat out better. And with the added dimension of Josh Allen, we definitely don't need 5 active RB's on top of that like we did last week. 2. I totally agree, Moss had a higher snap count 100% because of Cook's fumble. They used that as a teachable moment for the kid and pulled him. He is a big part of their game plan, and even some of the players said he was doing special things and camp and will be a part of this offense this year after the week 1 fumble. Cook will be back on the field and get a chance to redeem himself this week I suspect. As far as this thread on Shakir, I know he is in their plans this year, so I think it is a strong probability he is active this week.

These snap counts dont tell the whole story, as when those snaps occured. I don't know this answer, so legitimately asking...how many of those snaps that he actually lined up at WR for a pass play where late in the game up multiple scores? For example, if he ran 5 pass plays, but 4 of them were the 4th quarter up 3 scores, that doesn't say as much about his usage compared to say getting 5 pass plays during meaningful moments.

Matt Araiza accused of rape, served with a lawsuit.
Alphadawg7 replied to bill8164's topic in Off the Wall
I havent been active in this thread since it was moved to OTW. Now at 297 pages, its not something I have the time to read through. But I am curious if there have been any news on the case. Of course googling it did nothing, all the articles are weeks old because now that he is not on an NFL roster the media could care less. But I see in this page there is talk of videos and stuff that came out. The only thing I saw since the last time I was here was she gave an interview. But reading some of the comments here, sounds like a video has come out on her from the night of the alleged event? So can someone just give the quick cliff notes on what's happened since he was cut, if anything? Just wondering if anything new came out that helps his case or helps her case. -
No.

Huh? Where are you getting these impressions on his personality traits Dude, read your own post. Stop responding like you praised him just because you said he had top 10 potential. You trashed his character and yet to provide one statement to validate that trashing of his character. Unless you provide some context for your out of nowhere attack on his character, then it’s nothing but a troll attempt with this absolutely pointless and useless thread.

Brandon Beane Consults with Bill Parcells?
Alphadawg7 replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall
No, they did QB first. Beane wasn't a member of the Bills when we drafted Tre White. He was hired after the draft, came in right after the draft and immediately started clearing out cap space and players who don't fit the culture. HIs first draft pick was Josh Allen. -
Just the Chiefs. Mahomes might be even better this year with a my diverse set of weapons and his best OL yet. Chargers don’t scare me because Hebert is soft. Give him time and he will pick you apart with precision. Smash him in the face and he folds. He doesn’t like contact. Don’t get me a wrong, he’s still an outstanding young QB, but he doesn’t have to have hat toughness that adds to what makes Mahomes and Allen who they are. I have confidence our DL will disrupt that Chargers DL enough to keep that offense from clicking on all cylinders.

I have no idea why you are getting so many eye rolls here, I 100% agree that Shakir should be active over all 3 active of Devin, Moss, and Cook. Despite being up multiple scores late, we still only totaled 15 total carries to our RB's, plus Josh Allen had 10 himself. We do not need 3 RB's to handle 15 carries a game, and Moss is the one who should be inactive. Moss had the worst game of any Bill on both sides of the ball. While leading the RB's in total touches he had 2.5 ypc, 3.5 ypc as a receiver and a fumble. Making Moss inactive we still have 3 guys who can do damage in the run game...Devin, Cook, and Allen. Moss is essentially a 4th RB when you factor Allens runs into the game plan. And while McKenzie had a TD, he also had a minimal impact most the game and a costly turnover. I actually thought Crowder had the better game. There is room for Shakir to get snaps on the field with how much we throw the ball, and so far, no one has really locked the slot spot down. So using Shakir some in the slot, and having him for some outside work too to me has more value then carrying an extra RB when we don't run the ball a lot with our RB's. Devin is by far the best runner on the team, when we are handing the ball to RB's just 15 times a game, he should be getting a MIN of 12 of those carries, if not all 15. Especially when he is averaging 6 ypc. Devin is a capable receiver too, and Cook brings speed and an even better receiver skill set. I actually think there is a strong possibility Shakir will be active this week. And it wouldn't surprise me to see Moss inactive if all our dinged up guys suit up.

If anyone had any doubt left, and honestly you should not have...Beane is the best GM in the NFL right now, and I don't think its even up for debate anymore. This is just a class act move and show of total respect and appreciation for his players. This is the kind of stuff that makes players want to come here, and I mean that seriously. You don't see a lot of GM's do this kind of thing, especially for players who are 31. This is a fantastic move for the team, Poyer, and the commitment to the pursuit of a championship. I could not love this move more to be honest. It's a win win for everyone and Jordan has more than earned this and deserves this opportunity.

Who decides what RB is on the field for any given play?
Alphadawg7 replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall
I would guess this is different for every team, I don't think there is going to be a specific answer here. -
Jordan Phillips is the best DT on this team.
Alphadawg7 replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall
Same! He looks like a monster out there this year size wise with all the athleticism he always had. On one of his big plays I swear I thought it was Jones and I was like what, thats Jordan? He seems a lot bigger than I remember. -
Moss has a career 3.9 YPC compared to Devins 4.7 YPC though, it wasn't just one night is the issue. Devin out performs Moss in every statistical measurement over their careers, and most areas by a significant margin. Again, not down on Moss, it's just one game, but he is clearly not as good as Devin, so there should never be a reason why Devin only gets 8 Carries while giving up 6 carries to Moss. Devin had a higher catch rate than Moss last year by almost 10% better.
-
I get where you are coming from, but Moss just isn’t used that way. He’s getting carries throughout the game, not just short yardage and Devin gets short yardage attempts too. So while your point makes sense, I don’t think it’s really how Moss is used. He is used as a committee back, not a goal line back. It’s not like most his attempts are only short yardage attempts, in fact it’s the opposite. So for me, he just isn’t better than Devin in any area of the game still. And that includes statistically and the eye ball test for me. Devin hits the hole better, faster and more instinctively than Moss, and that is what is most important in short yardage. And Devin still runs with power and a low center of gravity. But all good, everyone has their own eyes and opinions, don’t have to see it the same way. Enjoyed the discussion though
-
You do realize Moss had ONE first down right, not several powerful first down runs on his night where he averaged 2.5 YPC and fumbled.
