Yeah, it’s amazing how fast they turn. Allen had zero turnovers in the Redzone for like his first 3 years and came into this season with 1 career turnover in the Redzone. Now they act like Josh is atrocious because he had some hiccups in a season where we have a rookie OC, and first time ever Josh had a switch at OC. Then there were all the injuries, including to Josh’s elbow. Then there were the lack of consistent weapons outside of Diggs. Then there was all the off field stuff Buffalo went through all year. Like no one even wants to consider the larger body of work vs the context of this season. And we still won 13 games and our 3 losses were by a total of 8 points.

How confident are you the Bills beat the Bengals?
Alphadawg7 replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall
Im confident we will win, yet fully aware this is no gimme game and if we play like we did against Miami, we won't win this game. Our greatest opponent on Sunday is not Cincy, it's ourselves. If they can stop shooting themselves in the foot, they should win this game. -
I hope he gets the job so we can get a more seasoned OC, hopefully one that understands how to consistently incorporate the run game and also scheme receivers open. Dorsey isn't a disaster, he has done a decent job in his first season as an OC. But he still has weak spots like in game adjustments, poor redzone play calling, lack of consistency in using our running backs, and lack of creativity by not scheming guys open more.

Halftime Adjustments a Myth! (Per Peyton Manning)
Alphadawg7 replied to NoHuddleKelly12's topic in The Stadium Wall
Lol, I've spent very little time here. Let me make this clearer. Halftime adjustments are 100% factual, real, and take place in all levels of football within the coaching staff. I don't even know why you are arguing that fact. I mean coaches literally refer to this on a regular basis of needing to make some adjustments in the 2nd half when being interviewed before the half, or after the game of having had made adjustments in the 2nd half. Thread title says halftime adjustments are a myth. No they are not. That is the point, and ask any coach. It may be a Myth that players make some sort of adjustment, but I don't think any reasonable fan or person ever one time thought it was the players themselves making some sort of magical adjustment individually. It has always been understood to mean coaches make adjustments, not players. -
All good bud, but they didn't even really look to incorporate Josh running much in that game. Wasn't that Miami was stopping it, they were not even looking to use his legs much as part of the game plan. Dorsey said as much in the post game about how he was trying to limit Josh in that capacity to protect him more. I just think anytime someone says "limiting Josh" as part of their plan, that is a mistake. Turn all of Josh loose IMHO is the better approach once we are in the playoffs. If you want to limit anything, limit the high risk throws a little more and encourage him to take what the D is giving him more. I love Josh, easily my favorite player all time, but there are times where he is missing a better throw for a riskier throw. And he does complete a lot of those riskier throws, the problem is the frequency he is taking the riskier throw to the easy one is out of balance a bit IMHO.

Halftime Adjustments a Myth! (Per Peyton Manning)
Alphadawg7 replied to NoHuddleKelly12's topic in The Stadium Wall
Him and this thread title are claiming all halftime adjustments are a myth. I was pointing out that players are not the ones making adjustments, and coaches very much do continuously make adjustments during games and confer further even at halftime. That is a fact, ask any coach. I already referenced him making adjustments at the line, lmao, so why are you even mentioning that to me when I literally said its very much what he did in the very post you are responding to? Second, no one ever said coaches take zero input from players, it was said that its on the coaching staff to make the adjustments in how they are calling games. If you think Manning is out there calling what ever play he wants regardless of the play call, then you have watched "Any Given Sunday" too many times, because that is not what is happening. -
Sacks are great, but its not really about the sacks. The key is just getting pressure on Burrow and disrupting his timing. If we allow Burrow time to throw to this group of WR's, we are in trouble defensively. But Burrow and this Bengals offense has shown they are far less effective when getting pressure on Burrow. And we have been pretty good at bringing pressure even without Von Miller. Will love to see 4 to 5 sacks, but we also don't need to get those to disrupt Cincy this week, just keep making Burrow uncomfortable back there and don't give him the time to carve up the defense to this insanely talented set of weapons he gets to throw to.

Dorsey is a problem. He just is and for a lot of reasons. Josh also has a problem where he sometimes does not make the better decision. He is a gunslinger and has 100% confidence in his arm, and he should. But he also needs to know you don't have to score on every play or get a big gain on every play. It's ok to get 6 yards instead of firing a 30 yarder down field. My biggest concern: Post Game Interview by Dorsey - He literally said they are trying to limit Josh and keep him safe. To me, that is a huge flaw in Dorseys approach. We are in "lose and go home" portion of the season, let Josh take off with his legs. One thing that was painfully apparent was the lack of runs by Josh against Miami, something he has TORCHED them with on a regular basis. Not only were we not flat out running the ball enough or effectively, but they took Josh's legs out of the game too much. TURN JOSH LOOSE in that capacity. Against Cincy and likely KC next, running the ball and controlling the clock to limit the number of drives Mahomes and Burrow get will be huge. I would much rather see Josh and the Bills take a 10+ play drive to score and chew up a bunch of time then score in say 5 or 6 plays. That is where Josh needs to use his head and take what the defense is giving him rather than force lower percentage passes down field as frequently as he was trying against Miami. So for me, its a 2 part problem...some Dorsey and some Josh. Do NOT neuter Josh, just call plays that scheme some easy throws open and have less guys running deep. On several plays, we had 2 or 3 guys going deep with one underneath. If Josh sees one of those deep guys get a step or one on one, he is gonna fire before he ever reaches his check down in his progressions. If we struggle to run, then scheme up some short throws or screens to the RB as an extension of the run game.

Last nights game looked a lot like Peyton Mannings last season. I think that was Brady's last game. Manning went out a SB champion only because he was carried by his defense and run game. In fact, Peyton was the 2nd worst passer in the NFL his last season and had the worst performance of any winning QB in SB history. If Brady is to go somewhere to have a real shot at winning one more title, the only place I can see that happening is SF. And now with a QB controversy already with Trey and Purdy on the horizon, I have a hard time they will halt either of those QB's progressions to bring in Brady with a declining arm and limited mobility. Especially if Purdy takes them deep in the playoffs this year. All the talk is Raiders, but they have a bad OL and mediocre defense at best and probably losing Josh Jacobs. Would the Raiders really be any better than the Bucs were this year? Probably not. Not to mention, its still a tough division. So unless the Niners come up short in the playoffs and decide to roll the dice on season with Brady, I can't really see him playing again next year. At least he shouldn't. He needs a stout D, OL, and run game at this point to support where he is at as a player.

Halftime Adjustments a Myth! (Per Peyton Manning)
Alphadawg7 replied to NoHuddleKelly12's topic in The Stadium Wall
Its never been about the players making adjustments, its the HC, OC, and DC recognizing how the opponent has been playing them and making formation and play call adjustments to counter the other sides game plan. They do this throughout the game, but the "halftime" adjustment is most talked about because its when the HC and Coordinators have a moment to all talk together and share input. I guarantee every coach in the league would 100% disagree with Mannings comment here. Manning has never coached, he has never put together a game plan or strategy. His job was to execute the play calls coming in from the staff or make on field audibles if he sees something he can exploit or counter out of if the defense is lined up in a way to disrupt the original call. Manning is a fun guy and good commentator, don't get me wrong, but he is out of his element here talking about coaching adjustements. -
I think people need to keep in perspective too that the drop was a pretty difficult catch. Wasn't like one of the drops we have seen other WR's drop this year for us.

You really made a thread about not being able to smile? Lmao, go outside and find something to smile about then rather than whine about it here. We are on to Cincy, score doesn’t matter anymore. It’s a one week season every week. Man up

Really? You really think that’s all he contributed today?

Geezus man, you can’t even just admit the dude had a great game without reverting to something negative. You really need a new schtick

BROCK PURDY: for real or fools gold ?
Alphadawg7 replied to Italian Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall
He made several mistakes yesterday and they should have been interceptions but Seahawks dropped the balls. As good as Purdy has been, he’s also been lucky quite a few times on some errant passes not being picked off. That being said, he’s also made a lot of plays where he extended the play and made something out of nothing. It’s why he reminds me of Fitzpatrick so far. -
Chargers - Mike Williams and Joey Bosa hurt in meaningless game
Alphadawg7 replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Herbert isn’t clutch. Staley is a fool. And the Chargers fold like a beach chair. And for these reasons, I called a Jags comeback at halftime to all my Charger fans friends and even bet on it and they didn’t disappoint. Funny thing is, all of them expected it to happen too. Chargers fans are now a lot like Bills fans were for a while where they expect the team to find new ways to lose games. 😂 -

To be fair…He had several dropped INTs though and few others that could have been possible INTs had a defender been in the area on bad passes. -

I think he is actually 6-0 I already said after his second start he was better than Jimmy G and the Niners are better with him. And the biggest reason for that is his mobility. Jimmy G has the worst pocket presence in the NFL, guy is a statue and can’t sense pressure either. That being said, for all his heroics yesterday, he still had a few atrocious passes that were dropped INTs that could have shifted that game back to being close or expand the Seahawks lead earlier in the game. What I think happens is he enters camp and battles Trey for the job. If Niners make a deep playoff run, it will be his job to lose, if he has a bad game and they get bounced, then it may be a little more even entering camp. Purdy is doing a great job, and he is for real, at least to this Niners team right now. But he reminds me more of Ryan Fitzpatrick than top tier starter so far. A guy who can extend plays with his legs, make some big plays and also tempt fate with some bad decisions. He also just doesn’t have have all the physical gifts that Trey has. Trey first game was not really a fair one to use as a barometer, it was horrific weather conditions and first game of the year too where most starters barely played coming into that game. Doesn’t mean Trey will even beat out Purdy, but I believe after all they invested in him and with his superior athletic gifts, they will at least let him battle it out against Purdy to see who wins the job. -

Will DeAndre Hopkins be available this offseason?
Alphadawg7 replied to NeverOutNick's topic in The Stadium Wall
I mean Poyer and Edmunds have been critical to our defense. If we lose both and don’t adequately replace them it’s going to be a huge hit to the defense. Im not saying go all in on the defense, they definitely need to upgrade WR and OL. But you don’t take money from the defense to pay top money to a 31 year old WR either. WR price tag has sky rocketed, that is a position to address in the draft IMHO. I’d rather spend cap space on other positions because it will go further. -
Wow…Sammy Watkins statement on Lamar 😬😳🥶🤦🏼♂️
Alphadawg7 replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall
I mean he opens with downplaying Lamar’s injury for one by saying everyone’s hurt this time of year. He goes on to imply he’s maybe dogging it essentially over his contract. Then he suggests Lamar risk play on an injured knee anyway, even if it means just on pass plays. You don’t see the irony of all that coming from a player in Watkins who has never put forth his best effort, missed a ton of games over tic tac injuries, and has coasted since getting paid? But more importantly, he is stirring up a distraction and questions heading into a playoff game. He was stupid for talking about it in the media ahead of their playoff game and basically implying he has no confidence or faith in the backups either by calling out Lamar. Not to mention, Sammy wasn’t even on that team when Lamar got hurt because the Packers (a team desperate for WR help) felt they were a better team without Sammy…and turns out they were. -
Wow…Sammy Watkins statement on Lamar 😬😳🥶🤦🏼♂️
Alphadawg7 replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall
I mean his knee was still swollen last week, there is no question that he is not fully recovered from his knee injury. The only question is could he push the envelope or not and play on it before it’s 100%. That’s a legit question, and I’m sure his future for himself plays into that decision. But there isn’t anything to be “suspicious” about in terms of what the injury was thought to be and him not being healed. They thought Von would miss 2-4 weeks and he ended up out for the season. -

Alphadawg7 replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall
I mean he is implying Lamar might be dogging it because of his contract situation and calling him out for not playing through the injury essentially.
