*****TRADE ANNOUNCEMENT***** The Washington Commanders have accepted a trade offer from the Seattle Seahawks and are sending them the 16th pick in the draft in exchange for the Commanders 20th and 83rd picks. @section122and Seahawks are now on the clock.

Dallas at 26 is honestly an issue for the Bills. Any of the offensive players the Bills could be targeting at 27 could easily go to Dallas at 26. Looking at a potential trade up partner...Giants are interesting at 25. If we are targeting a WR or OL help, and someone they want gets to the Giants, then getting ahead of the Cowboys at 26 might be essential. From a cost point of view, our 4th rounder would be enough to make the move. But it would also require Beane to be able to remain patient to wait until pick 25 to make a move for their guy. Of course, this also assumes Dallas didn't move up on their own to keep this from happening. One alternative scenario is if we were trading up to get a WR, would they maybe do something like 27 and Davis to the Giants for 25 and pick 89?

Jeffrey Simmons extended with Titans - 4 years, $94 Million
Alphadawg7 replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
I wanted Simmons bad in the draft, the only reason he wasn't a top 10 pick, and probably top 5, where the character concerns from when he hit a woman while defending his sister from an attacker in high school. I never had any long term concerns about him after hearing the details, hearing him speak about it and what he learned from that. All his coaches and teammates glowed about him too. I kept saying Simmons was going to be the best DT in the draft, and so many here kept going on and on about how he was untouchable because of the high school incident. I wish we would have taken him. -
Don’t disagree with any of that. I just think Dillards strongest position is LT, and Skoronski can play inside and potentially take over at LT when Dillards deal is done too if they wish. I’m always a fan of versatility though when it comes to the OL. I’m also very high on Skoronski.
-
I agree, it won’t be Bijan if Henry is still on the roster. And I also agree it will be OL or a receiver in that scenario. But if they did trade Henry ahead of the draft (or during), Bijan would be an option at 11, assuming he’s still even on the board of course.
-
I agree, OL is there top need and I was definitely going OL with the pick prior to the trade. I still think Skoronski is the more likely pick. Dillard was paid starting LT money and is better suited there than guard. And Skoronski brings versatility who can play tackle and guard. With the scenario of picking up an extra second here, the plan is to address OL in the second with at least one of those 2nd rounders, possibly both if the right people are on the board.
-
You do realize the Titans already signed Andre Dillard to starter level money at LT right? They are not drafting a LT with the 11th pick to sit behind Dillard, and they didn't pay Dillard starter money to sit the bench with their cap situation. If they were to take someone on the OL there it would be Peter Skoronski who would be slated to start at LG. They could also go WR at 11 there too. But with the extra draft pick I picked up with this trade, we can find IOL help in the 2nd round and a WR.

If the Titans were to actually trade Henry, I think the Bears are the only team that makes any real sense as a landing partner. They are moving in the right direction there, they have plenty of cap room, and that division could be very winnable for them these next couple of years. Adding DJ Moore and then Derrick Henry would be a massive amount of help for Fields. Not only does Moore help him as a passer, but Henry gives them the luxury of not having to put the offense all on Fields. For Titans, I think they know they are no better than a middling AFC team as presently constructed and don't have the spending power to change that. Henry's cost and age isn't going to do a whole lot for them, so the opportunity to move Henry and his contract before his value diminishes further and bring in a potentially generationally talented RB to succeed him feels like a win-win type scenario for them. Getting Bijan for essentially the next 4-5 seasons on a rookie contract allows them to build around the style of football they want while freeing up cap space to keep improving the team elsewhere.

*****TRADE ANNOUNCEMENT***** The Tennessee Titans have traded Derrick Henry to the Chicago Bears for the 53rd pick in the NFL Draft. The Titans will be forever grateful to Derrick and all he has done for this organization and wish him all the best in his next chapter with the Bears. And with the 11th pick in the 2023 draft, the Tennessee Titans select: RB, Bijan Robinson, Texas CLICK HERE FOR 2022 HIGHLIGHTS Bijan might be the most gifted RB we have seen come out since Saquan, and we look forward to integrating him into our offense and continuing to do what we do best. Moving on from a player as special as Henry is never easy, but landing an heir to King Henry's throne with a prospect as gifted as Bijan is about the best case scenario we could imagine. This move not only allows us to get younger but also frees up future cap space so we can continue to build around the young talent on this roster. @wppeteand the Houston Texans are now on the clock for the 12th overall pick. Additional footage and evaluation below:

Yeah, I think it would certainly be for an offensive player to help Josh.
-
I mean this wouldn’t surprise me. I can see Beane doing this for someone like Bijan, a WR, or OL if they get into a reasonable striking distance of cost to move up. Packaging next years third and our first makes a lot of sense with the expected comp pick for Edmunds like the article discusses. Just going to depend if someone they covet falls to a range where we can make a move like that.

https://www.nfl.com/news/bears-trading-no-1-overall-pick-to-panthers-for-wr-d-j-moore-four-draft-picks Ah it was pick 61, a second they got from the Niners, not their own. Sorry, my bad, just saw them having a second and knew they had traded one. Forgot about the extra picks from the McCaffrey trade.
-
@Virgil I believe pick 39 belongs to the Bears, the Panthers traded it in the package for the number 1 overall pick.

Cam Newton open to backing up Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen
Alphadawg7 replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall
Thanks, and no worries. First to be clear, I think you might be misinterpreting what I was saying. I opened my last post stating I am not personally interested in Cam and ended it with I don't think the Bills will have any interest either. But, I am not sure I follow what you are trying to say here with what I bolded above. I referenced 2 backups battling to win the back up spot. I mean that is the very definition of camp and exactly what a team wants at all times, competition. I was not even advocating for it, all I said was that I wouldn't have a problem with it if they did bring him in cheap to compete with Allen. I even stated his arm looked dead to me in NE too, so we are not even in disagreement on that. I will say this though, there are many cases where I have seen fans say certain players are washed and done just to see them go on to prove that wrong. I mean this board said Hughes was done after posting 2.5 sacks his final year here just to see him put up 9 sacks in Houston this year. To be clear, I am no way saying Cam is gonna have some resurgence, as I already stated, I too believe his arm looked dead last we saw him play in NE. Just saying if they kicked the tires to see what was actually left in the tank, I wouldn't have an issue with it either. That being said, I don't have a personal interest in Cam and I don't believe the Bills will either. -
I can take a second team too it need be

Cam Newton open to backing up Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen
Alphadawg7 replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall
While I don't personally have a lot of interest in Cam, I can't for sure say Kyle Allen is a better backup than Cam would be (although I do think Allen is based on what we last saw from Newton). But if Cam was willing to come in cheap and compete with Allen, I don't have a problem with that. Let the better player win. At least with Cam, the mobility component that Josh brings to the game would be able to stay in the game plan, but the real question is whether or not his arm is dead because it sure looked dead last he played in NE. That being said, I think they feel fine with Kyle Allen and I do not expect them to bring in Cam or anyone to compete. Just saying if they did, I would be ok with it as long as he was as cheap as Kyle would be. It also would not surprise me to see them draft a QB at some point later in the draft if someone they were intrigued by was there to groom as a potential future backup QB on the cheap. -

Here is one stat that gives me hope some new thinking and play calling could help spike our ability to get more pressure and get more from our young guys. Jerry Hughes since being traded to the Bills has played 10 seasons. 5 of them with Frazier, 5 of them without Frazier (his first 4 seasons here and last year with Houston). Without Frazier: Averages 8 sacks a season. With Frazier: Averages 4 sacks a season. Doesn't mean it was all Frazier's fault, could be the scheme too. But, I don't think it had any chance of being "better" this year had Frazier stayed, more like more of the same. At least with McD potentially being more aggressive and bringing new thinking and play calling to the table, there is at least the potential to get more out of our young guys and improve our pass rush. So I am actually quite excited to see if McD can make a positive impact on this defense and ramp up the aggression and pass rush. The one concern is the MLB spot which has been a key position for McD's defenses. Hoping we get one of the top prospects there in the draft in the first couple of rounds to give him something more to work with than an unproven Bernard.

Luckily there is no chance we are going CB in round 1. Zach in the 2nd wouldn't surprise me though.

I do think there is a reason, and it has nothing to do with Knox's ability to get the ball more. It has everything to do with how the TE position is being used in our offenses under Daboll and Dorsey. We are an offense that likes to push the ball down field, while at the same time having OL issues that struggle to hold protections long enough for routes to develop down field. So Dorsey elected to use Knox more as a blocker to try and negate that. And you say a Gronk type player...others say a Kelce type player...I mean lets be real, those are 2 of the top 3 or 4 to ever do it at their positions in the history of the NFL, and some would argue they are the top 2. You don't just find a top 5 player in NFL history when ever you want to. More importantly, its not like every team needs to find a Kelce or Gronk. Knox is capable of being a top 5 TE in the NFL this year, but he can't produce like that if he is not given the targets to do so. I mean look at San Francisco, I don't think anyone would disagree that Kittle is the 2nd best TE in football. If they used Kittle the way KC uses Kelce, then Kittle's numbers would be as good or better than Kelce. But they don't, they are a run first team and when Jimmy G was the QB he was a statue from the pocket, so they used Kittle a lot as an extra blocker. When Purdy took over, Kittles numbers began exploding because Purdy had more mobility to buy time and giving the young QB another safety net like Kittle made more sense so he was used as a receiver a lot more. And thankfully so as he was a big reason I won my fantasy championship after being mostly worthless while Jimmy G was QB. It is all about how a player is used. If they committed to featuring and using Knox as a receiver more (and he leads the team in catch % too), he would easily have top 5 TE stats. I mean Knox only had 65 targets this year despite having 15 TD's the last 2 seasons.
