But are they? Who on their staff has been sought after other than Eric Bieniemy? And Eric has been a "top HC candidate" how many years now and never gets the job. Is that KC keeping its staff together, or more that they haven't had any real candidates other than Bieniemy and he has failed to secure a job after interviewing for several.

I think you missed the point that this is possibly his last home game. Even if we win the game, if KC also wins, this is his last home game still unless he gets a new deal. And he was specifically asked about if he is thinking about that. He gave an honest and heart felt answer. Of course he is thinking about this, and I don't see anything wrong with him understanding that until there is a new deal, this is probably his last home game as I think everyone expects KC to beat the Jags (although that isn't a foregone conclusion).

Yeah, I think the voting is done before the playoffs start actually because it only incorporates regular season. On one hand, you would think postseason performance should be factored in too...but then the award would more often than not just go to the SB winner and overlook guys who may not make it as far, but maybe were as deserving or more for what they accomplished with less to work with. I just think if everyone is taking all factors into consideration, McD (who most people have cooled on the quality of the Bills roster in terms of it being the best roster) being 8 points away from an undefeated season under all the conditions he has had navigate this season for the team is hands down one of the best coaching jobs of the year. If I had a vote, I would vote Daboll just given how bad that team performed with mostly the same roster before him and how he turned it around so fast. But my next vote would be to McD followed by Pete Carrol who you also don't have on your list.

Just jumping into this thread...from what I gather you are a Bengals fan and just here to talk some game stuff leading up to the big show down. If that is correct: First, hats off to the Bengals fans, organization, players, and the city of Cincinnati for how everyone handled the unfortunate Hamlin situation. Class act. I don't care about what people want to now say on each others boards, when the situation was going down, it was how everyone handled it that matters the most. Everything being said now is just part of the fact these 2 teams are about to face off in a win or go home moment, both with Super Bowl or bust aspirations. With that out of the way, on to football: There were some dirty plays, especially the one where your guy intentionally tried to roll onto Allens lower leg in the brief time that game was played. So I expect a lot of mutual respect prior to the game, but all bets are off on both teams once the game starts and it will be heated battle. I know a lot of Cincy fans believe it was going to easily be a win for Cincy after you were leading and still moving the ball in the first partial game. But Buffalo is 5-0 in games that started exactly like that this year, and we have seen Cincy start hot and slow down several times this year too. So I think that was a poor assumption, we moved the ball easily on our own drive too and just had that stall down by the goal line. I think we were in line for a great game where either team could have been the victor. If I had to pick a top to bottom best roster, it would go to the Bills, but the margin of difference isn't a big gap. Our greatest opponent Sunday will be ourselves. When we don't shoot ourselves in the foot, we are the best team in football. But that is easier said than done. If we give Burrow more opportunities by turning the ball over, this will be a tough game for us to win. If we take points off the board for us or extend drives for the Bengals with ill timed penalties, this will be a tough game for us. We need to get to Burrow...I don't care if we sack him or not, we just need to get at least pressure on him. Your WR's are too good to give Burrow time, he will carve up our D if we do and game may come down to who has ball last kind of thing even if we play mistake free football. My belief is that we will clean the turnovers up and will win a tough game. But the margin of error for both teams is narrow. Cincy fans believe they have the better QB, Bills fans believe they do. This game won't settle that debate, but it will sure be fun to watch them square off for the first time.

But you don't think that is a product of who is he is working with? He has managed to maximize guys mostly not seen as good passers. He has masked their weaknesses and played to their strengths. With Josh, he is a lethal passer and a lethal runner. He has never had someone like him, not to mention, we also have Diggs. Look at what he got out of Andrews in Balt, imagine him working with Knox too. I am not gonna campaign for him, I even had my issues with the offense when he was last here. But the makeup of this team makes me see him as an intriguing candidate is all I am saying.

I was one of the ones critical of the offense back then too...but you are talking about an offense helmed by Tyrod Taylor and a team coached with dysfunction by Rex Ryan. Yet, despite all that, Tyrod Taylor made the Pro Bowl under Roman. And again, Taylor wasn't a good starter. How can you compare that situation to this team led by Allen and with a quality coaching?

Yes. He did it for Kap, and that Kap was damn good and got them to the SB and a massive contract. He did it for Alex Smith, and took them to the NFC Championship game. He did it for Tyrod Taylor who despite not being very good, got enough out of him he made 2 pro bowls. He did it for Lamar, and that included winning unanimous MVP (something that doesn't happen often) despite poor cast of receiving weapons.

So much negativity about Roman as possible OC here if Dorsey left...yet...Romans resume includes: Kapernick was in the Super Bowl, and landed a massive contract. Tyrod Taylor was a 2 time Pro Bowler. Alex Smith got to the NFC Championship. Lamar Jackson was an unanimous MVP. You telling me this guy is not a good OC? This guy has not had anything like Allen to work with, closest would be Lamar. But with Lamar, not only he is not as good as a passer as Allen, he also never had any real top end WR's to throw to either. I for one would be curious to see what he could do as an OC while finally working with a QB as talented and rare as Allen. In every spot he has gone, he has completely tailored the offense to the QB. He is not going to try and bring the offense he built for Lamar here and turn Josh into a running QB and this into a run first offense. He will build it to Allen's strengths and take some pressure off him with incorporating more of a run game around him.

This is what I don't get...why do you think he will run the exact same offense that was specifically tailored for Lamar? He built and tailored that offense specifically for Lamar. He built one for Kapernick too and made him look so good he got a massive contract. If Roman comes in here, he will build this offense around Allen. Beane is not going to bring in anyone who is going to try and turn Allen into a run first QB and put him at risk more than is needed. If Roman came here, his focus would be to build an offense that brings some balance with a supporting rung game, rather than being full on run centric like Baltimore was. You don't have a guy like Allen and just convert to a run dominant team.

I see nothing wrong with Burrow feeling that way, in fact, I would expect that from a team that won as many games as they did. While they lost one more game than us, our game was cancelled where they were leading and moving the ball at ease that could have seen them take over the #2 seed if they went on to win that game. They represented the AFC in the Super Bowl last year, they have beaten KC 3 times between this year and last year who are still considered the favorites despite being 1-5 over the last 6 games since last year against Cincy and Buffalo, and Buffalo just got taken down to the wire by a team everyone expected we would blow out. Why is anyone surprised he doesn't feel like an underdog? And why would anyone take exception to the fact that he doesn't think he is the underdog? Truth is, this game to me is more of a coin flip. If we can control our own mistakes, we should win this game, but if we don't get pressure on Burrow and give them extra chances with turnovers, then we will have a hard time winning this game. These are two very good football teams, the margin of error on both sides is small.

Lot of people negatively reacting to the point I said I think Roman could be an interesting candidate here if Dorsey leaves for a HC gig. I don't really see why, he got a lot out of that offense in Baltimore without having any real receiving weapons to work with. And he understands how to build a run game to compliment the passing attack and lots of experience with a dual threat QB. I see him as someone that can bring some balance to the offense by incorporating more of the run game to support Josh and our air attack. Not to mention, he made a stud out of Andrews, so I think he would better utilize Knox as a receiving weapon. I am not going to stand here and campaign hard for him, I am not even convinced Dorsey wont be here next year. But I do think Roman would be an interesting candidate if Dorsey wasn't in Buffalo next year.

Allen is a true passer, so I don't think he would run him the way they run Lamar

I don't know what will happen, but I know we are a better team with Poyer on it and hope we find a way to keep him.

No disrespect, but I think its a crime you didn't list McD on this list. IMHO he absolutely deserves to be on this poll, and really should be a top 3 candidate IMHO. Daboll is a clear top choice, he has done more with less than any coach in the league this year. But McD would be 2nd or 3rd IMHO. McD coached this team through the horrible things that have happened to the city of Buffalo, Matt Araiza situation, Knox's brother dying just before the season, Hamlin, and all the injuries and to be just 8 points away from a perfect season in one heck of a coaching job.

Yeah, it’s amazing how fast they turn. Allen had zero turnovers in the Redzone for like his first 3 years and came into this season with 1 career turnover in the Redzone. Now they act like Josh is atrocious because he had some hiccups in a season where we have a rookie OC, and first time ever Josh had a switch at OC. Then there were all the injuries, including to Josh’s elbow. Then there were the lack of consistent weapons outside of Diggs. Then there was all the off field stuff Buffalo went through all year. Like no one even wants to consider the larger body of work vs the context of this season. And we still won 13 games and our 3 losses were by a total of 8 points.

Im confident we will win, yet fully aware this is no gimme game and if we play like we did against Miami, we won't win this game. Our greatest opponent on Sunday is not Cincy, it's ourselves. If they can stop shooting themselves in the foot, they should win this game.

I hope he gets the job so we can get a more seasoned OC, hopefully one that understands how to consistently incorporate the run game and also scheme receivers open. Dorsey isn't a disaster, he has done a decent job in his first season as an OC. But he still has weak spots like in game adjustments, poor redzone play calling, lack of consistency in using our running backs, and lack of creativity by not scheming guys open more.

Lol, I've spent very little time here. Let me make this clearer. Halftime adjustments are 100% factual, real, and take place in all levels of football within the coaching staff. I don't even know why you are arguing that fact. I mean coaches literally refer to this on a regular basis of needing to make some adjustments in the 2nd half when being interviewed before the half, or after the game of having had made adjustments in the 2nd half. Thread title says halftime adjustments are a myth. No they are not. That is the point, and ask any coach. It may be a Myth that players make some sort of adjustment, but I don't think any reasonable fan or person ever one time thought it was the players themselves making some sort of magical adjustment individually. It has always been understood to mean coaches make adjustments, not players.

All good bud, but they didn't even really look to incorporate Josh running much in that game. Wasn't that Miami was stopping it, they were not even looking to use his legs much as part of the game plan. Dorsey said as much in the post game about how he was trying to limit Josh in that capacity to protect him more. I just think anytime someone says "limiting Josh" as part of their plan, that is a mistake. Turn all of Josh loose IMHO is the better approach once we are in the playoffs. If you want to limit anything, limit the high risk throws a little more and encourage him to take what the D is giving him more. I love Josh, easily my favorite player all time, but there are times where he is missing a better throw for a riskier throw. And he does complete a lot of those riskier throws, the problem is the frequency he is taking the riskier throw to the easy one is out of balance a bit IMHO.

Him and this thread title are claiming all halftime adjustments are a myth. I was pointing out that players are not the ones making adjustments, and coaches very much do continuously make adjustments during games and confer further even at halftime. That is a fact, ask any coach. I already referenced him making adjustments at the line, lmao, so why are you even mentioning that to me when I literally said its very much what he did in the very post you are responding to? Second, no one ever said coaches take zero input from players, it was said that its on the coaching staff to make the adjustments in how they are calling games. If you think Manning is out there calling what ever play he wants regardless of the play call, then you have watched "Any Given Sunday" too many times, because that is not what is happening.

Sacks are great, but its not really about the sacks. The key is just getting pressure on Burrow and disrupting his timing. If we allow Burrow time to throw to this group of WR's, we are in trouble defensively. But Burrow and this Bengals offense has shown they are far less effective when getting pressure on Burrow. And we have been pretty good at bringing pressure even without Von Miller. Will love to see 4 to 5 sacks, but we also don't need to get those to disrupt Cincy this week, just keep making Burrow uncomfortable back there and don't give him the time to carve up the defense to this insanely talented set of weapons he gets to throw to.
