  1. One way to be sure to get ones guess right is to list every possible scenario Obvious answer is that it will come down to how the round falls. We have shown interest in no particular order at DL, LB, OL, DB, RB, and WR and any of those outside of RB would be in play for us at 59 if there is a guy there they feel fits the value. One thing we know for sure that Beane won't be afraid to move up to get a guy he feels is sticking out, especially with our overall strength of the roster. There are definitely some guys I could see meeting that criteria for him to move up to get, although they would need to get close enough to our pick where the cost wasn't crazy because I doubt Beane would be willing to give up an early pick next year like our 1st or 2nd. And now having given up a 4th for Kincaid, trading back is certainly in play if Beane isn't seeing the value. Like @GunnerBillpointed out, with so few first round grades this year, the back end of the draft saw a heavier dose of 2nd round graded players go and could leave Beane in a spot where he trades back and tries to get an extra pick. Im torn on what I a rooting for...On defense, I am hoping we end up with one of the LB's of Sanders or Simpson. DL would be nice too, just LB feels more pressing and hoping one of them gets to us. On offense there are still some very good options on the OL to get Josh some more protection, although I am skeptical the guys sticking out the most will get close to our pick. Still some WR's too, but after adding Kincaid I feel like its less a priority in the 2nd and I think a WR run is gonna happen ahead of us. But if we somehow ended up with say Downs after adding Kincaid for example, wow what a potential arsenal we could field next year. All in all, love when the draft is volatile like this, makes all the picks that much more interesting to watch and excited for tonight.
  2. If they wanted Kincaid, it was definitely necessary as he was as close of a lock as there is in a draft to go to Dallas. So it honestly strictly comes down to how they felt about Kincaid, and they definitely stated he was their guy. Beane also stated if Kincaid was gone, they had a trade back in place because none of the other players had first round grades on his board. Leading up to the draft I kept saying Dallas was a problem and the Giants at 25 make sense for his to move up to and it would cost exactly a 4th this year. And the reason I said Dallas was a problem was because any of the offensive players people thought we might covet if they fell near us were also going to be guys on Dallas's board too. Bijan for example, Kincaid obviously, or also even one of the WR's...all depending on how the board fell. The board fell in a way where there was only one obvious player sticking out and that was Kincaid. Now some can differ on whether or not Kincaid should have been their guy, but based on them being Beanes target when the 25th pick came up, he had to make that move to get him IMHO. Personally, I agree that he was the BPA on the board, so I was fine with them going after the best player. Just hope Dorsey gets this kid the ball now.
  3. I definitely like the signing a lot, I do just have some durability concerns with him as he has dealt with several injuries.
  4. Agreed, Eagles had an excellent draft. I would probably list the Bills as Good given they got a top 15 player at 25, which was amazing value. I can't fault the Pats for their pick per se, but I don't think this pick does much to move the needle for them. The offense is a major achilles heal, especially in the offensive loaded AFC. This was a pretty meh move for me by them. Disagree on the Ugly here for Washington, they got the guy they have been commonly linked to at this pick. I would have personally taken Porter Jr, but I am also not a professional scout. I didn't find the pick surprising at all though and they definitely need corner help. It was ugly day for Levis, I actually thought he was going to be a Pat as he fell to them and Mac trade rumors have been floating around. Maybe they get him in the 2nd though. The team I felt had the worst day were the Bears as I don't understand why they took him with all the other OL guys on the board. The Lions are interesting to categorize for me...they could come out looking like geniuses here or this could have been a thud. While I don't hate their picks at all, taking Gibbs at 12 was a major head scratcher given they likely get him at 18. Especially given they already have 2 good RB's on their roster. Campbell was one of those guys who was second half of round one to first half of round 2 kind of projection. So taking him at 18 was fine IMHO, especially since I think he fits what Dan Campbell wants to do. Bottom line is they got the 2nd best RB and arguably the best LB, so it could work out quite well for them. Just Gibbs at 12 really was a bit confusing given who they have and how early that was. I personally never for a minute thought the Jets would go WR. They have already went WR round 1 last year and got the OROY and then have a good core behind him, including one of Rodgers favorite targets. For me, the one area Rodgers flamed out a lot in the playoffs was poor OL play and getting to him. The Jets still need some serious OL help IMO, and missing out on Jones was great. But I thought Anton Harrison would be the guy there and should have been the pick. I get the defense pick based on who Saleh is, but protecting a 38 year old QB I think will still prove to be there achilles.
  5. Yeah, totally...really the fundamental basis of a message board forum too NFL draft is one of my favorite times of the year too, and this years has gotten off to a wild and interesting start. So really curious how round 2 plays out. I wonder if we see another round of high trade activity or not. This draft is pretty wild in terms of how teams are grading players, teams have very different opinions I think on a number of players, so makes so much less predictable.
  6. Yeah last night was without a doubt the best round I can remember in terms of not tipping the picks. The only one I saw was Chaos tipping of the Jets pick by a minute or two in the shout box and the live thread. That is the one I commented on here in this thread and the shout box, but given he didn't want picks tipped either based on his comments in this thread, I assume it was just an unintentional mistake as he didn't do it again. Honestly didn't notice a 2nd one that you mentioned Gunner. So yeah, I think this thread may have had a nice positive impact because if feels like a lot of picks get tipped every year in the shout box especially despite lots of people asking them to stop. So nice work @CNYfanwith the pre-draft polite request.
  7. Honestly, I think the answer to your poll is: All of the above. Just given its too hard to tell until we see how the board falls. Beane said he had a trade back in place if Kincaid was gone because no one left had a first round grade. I have a felling we could be in a similar position at 59 where he could not have anyone on his board with a 2nd round grade. @GunnerBill made a good point about how with the first round so light at the top, a lot of the 2nd rounder players were going in the first than say in a deeper draft. So makes me wonder how thin it will be when we are on the clock. So I do think there is a good chance Beane will look to trade back and try and maybe get back an extra draft capital either this year or next if he doesn't see the value there. That being said, there are some guys here on the board I would have a hard time seeing Beane pass on if they last to us and even some I wouldn't be surprised he made another small move up for if they get close enough. For example, either Sanders or Simpson at LB, a couple of the OL guys, one of the WR's like Downs, Branch at S, to name a few. Not all those guys are making it to us or within stinking distance, if any. One thing I know about Beane is he will go get his guy if they are there, even move up again if its someone they covet at a price he can live with. At the same time, Beane isn't someone who likes to reach either, so if their board says the value isn't there I am confident he is going to at least attempt to move back.
  8. Totally agree, that was maybe the most entertaining first round (or any round) I can remember watching. Not only was it hard to know where anyone might go, you had trades flying left and right. If I am not mistaken I think there were 5 trades inside the top 10 even. I very much agree with your whole write up here. its no secret that I was both skeptical we would go TE round 1 unless the board fell in a way where it was the clear BPA, and that it did. So not only did I expect it to be Kincaid at that point, I felt it was the correct choice. Heading into the draft, I really wasn't excited about the idea of having such a heavy investment into the TE position given what we pay Knox and then an additional first round pick (now a 1st and 4th), especially given I did not have a lot of confidence in Dorsey getting the kind of production from a 2nd TE. However, that was also mostly because I never imagined Kincaid making it to our pick (and technically he didn't as I think it was pretty obvious he was going to Dallas and why we moved up) and we would have likely taken either Mayer or Washington who are much more of a typical TE than Kincaid who is more of a WR in a TE sized body. So I was more interested pre-draft in getting a receiver type like LaPorta in round 2 or one of the other guys in the round 3 or 4. That being said, I am pretty excited about Kincaid given I am less worried now about his targets being too low given he is that more WR type and Beane made it clear that is what he was drafted to be. So now I can feel better about him being a relevant part of our offense, although I still need to see Dorsey make it happen on the field. One of my biggest criticisms with Dorsey last year was not doing a good job of utilizing the talents and skill sets of what was already on the roster. We brought in both Cook and Hines to be big receiving threats, and yet they were just used that way (Hines wasn't used at all). With struggles at slot, I thought he could have done a better job of trying to get Shakir more involved. And Knox I felt there should have bene more emphasis to get Knox more targets, especially given the inconsistency from Davis and the slot position. But it was Dorseys first year, so the good news is that it should be better this year and now that we used a first on Kincaid, there will be pressure to be sure he gets the kind involved. Nice job, this year was quite difficult I will say. I didn't put as much time in with all the baby prep, so definitely enjoyed your wealth of info to help fill some gaps in. Joey Porter Jr was my biggest surprise, I thought he was a lock in the first, especially given how some of the other positions were not overly strong in the first. I also figured Branch would go in the first, but wasn't as confident in him going there as I was in Porter. I expect both of these guys to go real fast in the 2nd round. Agree on this too...except I would say no "Raider moments" ha. That being said, the one big "reach" for me was Gibbs to Detroit at 12. I thought Gibbs would go round 1, and even thought he was in play for the Lions. But I figured if he went to Detroit it would have been at 18 instead of 12. I wasn't surprised Bijan went at 8, Falcons were a popular landing spot for him leading up to the draft and its what I expected. But didn't think Gibbs would go top 15 too. Agreed, the amount of trades (I think 5 in the top 10) was even more than I thought. I think all the trades feel like win-wins too inside that top 10. Of course how players pan out will truly determine that, but I think all the teams did well for what their teams needed to do with those trades. Yeah, I was pretty surprised by this pick by the Bears, not at all who I thought they would take. And for the Lions, I had Campbell as a Lions pick, just thought it would be the 2nd round based on many thinking Campbell would slide there. Jack Campbell feels like a Dan Campbell guy all the way, so wasn't surprised they took him. And I am not as down on Jack as many are here, so I don't hate the pick at 18 if that is they guy they coveted. But I do think Gibbs at 12 was a mistake and should have gone another direction there and then taken Gibbs at 18 instead of Gibbs - Campbell. You remaining big board looks solid to me. Good work as usual Gunner
  9. First round was wild and fun. Looking forward to another fun day today!
  10. I think it has immense potential for sure, my 3 remaining offensive question marks IMHO are: OL, Dorsey and Harris staying healthy. I totally agree this has been a sneaky good off season, especially for the offense. I’ve been saying Sherfield and Harty are better signings than some think in terms of upgrades to last year. And now adding Kincaid really brings the opportunity to create a lot of mismatches. And while I do think we made some solid OL moves, hoping we still add one more piece in the draft. We got Josh a new weapon, so hoping one of our 2 picks gets him some more protection too. With the new prices it’s now on Dorsey to get them all involved. And for me, that was one of his biggest weak points last year, using the talent we had. But it was just his first season, and the one great thing about Kincaid being a first round pick is that the pressure will be on Dorsey to get him involved. Love the Harris signing, just a little worried about him staying healthy as he has struggled with that. More so for the cold weather games where I don’t love the idea of having to lean on Cook and Hines later in the season where the weather gets bad for us.
  11. I think Beane is going to try and trade down again if he doesn’t see the value. He had a trade down in place if Kincaid was gone because he said no one else had a first round grade. So I could see maybe a trade down to try and recoup a fourth depending on how big of a move it would be.
  12. Name is meh, so work on that haha I’m pretty excited now because if we were gonna go TE Kincaid was the most exciting and because of Beanes comments on what their plan is for him. i figured and wanted us to take a TE in this draft, just wasn’t high on the idea of taking one round 1 unless the board fell in a way where it was the BPA. And the board did fall that way, so was happy with that choice. But my initial reservation is that it would have been for one of the other more traditional TEs (as i thought Kincaid would have been gone) and I lacked confidence Dorsey would maximize the value of two TEs on this team. However, with it being Kincaid and hearing Beane confirm he wasn’t brought here to block and will be used more as a big WR, well that made me a lot more comfortable that they will get this kid meaningful targets to validate the draft status. I still need to see Dorsey put it all together, but this kid is a weapon and excited to see him on the field with Allen and company.
  13. Lol, no it’s more I have never seen someone take a victory lap after making a list of people for one pick and one person on the list ended up happening. But I gave you kudos for having Kincaid as your top choice. Like I said, I didn’t think it was realistic he we would be there. But for that I was wrong, never saw him getting past Chargers or Cowboys. Although not sure I was totally wrong about that, Cowboys seemed pretty dejected about our pick and pretty sure he was their guy. I did correctly predict the trade to 25 though specifically to get ahead of Cowboys 2 weeks ago. Stated the Cowboys were a problem for us as there was a good chance who we are targeting g could also be their top target as both teams could go after a WR or TE depending how the board fell. Albeit I figured it would more likely be for Addison or JSN if they got that close.
  14. You’ve watched more film on him than I have, so I’ll say my biggest attraction to him is as a mauler in the run game. But I can’t vouch for his overall fit here, like i said you would be a better judge of that than me. I just want to add some toughness for those bad weather games where we need to smash in the trenches. So if not Cody, who do you think would be a good fit here in the second in terms of OL fit? Personally, I think if either of the 2 LBs Sanders or Simpson makes it to 59, that would be our most likely pick over OL, I’m just not confident they will.
  15. I love Mauch, he’s a mauler and I think has major potential. I don’t think he will last long in the 2nd round though. Then again, this draft has been hard to predict, so who knows. I’d love to land him or one of the LBs Sanders or Simpson
  16. Im definitely happy we took the best guy. I admittedly thought there was very little chance we would take a TE, but that is also partly because I figured both Kincaid and Mayer would be gone and we were looking at someone like Washington. Im excited to hear how Beane spoke about him and that it sounds like there is a bigger plan for him than just a second TE. So looking forward to seeing how this all comes together on the field this year. Love getting Allen more weapons, now let’s get him some more protection too as the icing on the cake We struggled against more teams than that. Either way, it’s a new year with new pieces. So we will see how Dorsey evolves, he was bad in several key areas as a rookie OC.
  17. We had noticeable drops in efficiency and points scored from the year before. Plus last year, the first half of the season was better than the second half. Everything was harder for the offense last year than it was the year before. Even Diggs, Allen, etc have all talked about how much more the offense struggled in the second half how things were just harder.
  18. Totally agree. Come week 1 I’ll be amped. This time of year, still coming off last season and haven’t seen any new looks yet as camp hasn’t started. Truth is, Dorsey has several new toys, not just Kincaid. I think Sherfield and Harry are nice additions and hoping Shakir is ready to take over the slot. We could also still draft a WR too
  19. Yeah, if Dorsey figures out how to utilize our weapons, the offense is gonna be a nightmare to defend. But...my thing with Dorsey is last year he failed to utilize our RB's as pass catchers despite Beane drafting one in the 2nd and trading for one in Hines mid season. He also failed to get Knox more involved when we needed help as our slot production was hurting the offense. And with the slot position under performing, he didn't really try and get Shakir more involved either despite some positive flashes. That for me was the biggest area he needed to grow into year 2 at...utilizing our personnel more effectively and more regularly in the offense. So fingers crossed he finds ways to get all these guys touches. Lets not forget about Sherfield, Shakir, and Harty too...these guys can potentially bring a lot to the offense. And we still need to get the run game more involved too so its not all on Josh Allen. I would feel a lot better if we had a more proven OC, but hey, it was just his first year, hoping he takes a big step this year as an OC. Because he also needs to be better in the redzone and in game adjustments.
  20. No he said he had already had a trade in place to trade down if Kincaid was gone. That was the point, and no reason to say that if not true. And it was clear Kincaid was the last player with a first round grade on the board by anyones measure, which Beane said was true for his board as well.
  21. Agred on all that...I just hope Dorsey figures out how to maximize his value
  22. Hey if we can get Kincaid enough targets to get that many receptions, then great. I don't see how we get Knox, Diggs, Davis, our RB's, and whoever is in the slots targets and still get Kincaid that many receptions though. Just a lot of mouths to feed. I was just saying he is going to get most his production playing more like a WR than a TE is all.
