  1. I don't find this critique all that fair TBH. People love to say this without acknowledging the fact that since Allen developed, this team is picking late in the draft every year. And some of the drafts were pretty weak classes too. "True Difference Makers" are not just robustly throughout every draft, they are a rare player and drafting late or weak draft classes where there are fewer makes it that much harder to find and develop one. Yet Beane still has found guys that are difference makers like Allen, Oliver, Diggs (traded for, but still brought here by Beane), Bernard, and looking like Cook, Kincaid, and Torrance will potentially be in that class at some point too. On top of that...Beane IMHO has one of the best resumes in the NFL in all the critical phases of being a GM: - Drafting: His draft record is one of the best in the NFL without question - Free Agency: He has given a master class on finding value and quality pieces for this roster and also knowing when to let our own Free Agents walk vs resigning - Player Retention: He has continuously found ways to keep guys we want to keep, even when it seemed highly unlikely like Milano, and on mostly reasonable or team friendly deals. And when he cant get them on those deals, they walk and he brings them back later even cheaper like Shaq, Phillips, and Poyer - Cap Management: He honestly might be the best GM in the NFL in terms of cap management and contracts, definitely top 3 at least - Roster Building: He tore down a doormat team and rebuilt it in 2 seasons into what is now a perennial contender and has continued to navigate free agency, the cap, etc to keep this team at the top of the AFC even as big extensions like Allens have impacted the cap So for me, I don't know what else he could have done in the hasn't found enough "true difference makers" conversation considering where we have been drafting, but he has also brought more in than I think he gets credit for.
  2. Buy - Shakir - This is the kind of game someone like him can be a huge help to Josh. Davis brings nothing to the short to mid pass attack in terms of consistency, separation, etc. Diggs will get extra attention. SHAKIR SHAKIR SHAKIR - Feed the kid the ball like his name was Beasley. Sell - Cook - I think this is the kind of game where we have lost before because we didn’t have a physical run game. And this is why they brought in Harris originally and then Fournette once Harris was lost. Cook will still get touches, but I think we will see “Playoff Lenny” start to emerge this week in terms of being more of a true split with Cook and could lean on him in the 2nd half to wear down Pitt and help protect the ball. Hold - Joe Brady - This will be a big test for Brady and how he adopts to this kind of weather in a big moment. His predecessor crapped the bed in a similar style game last year. While I believe and expect Brady to fare better based on having established a more successful run game and facing a lesser foe, it’s still his first playoff game and probably the worst weather he’s had to call a game in so far.
  3. I can see the TSW meltdown now…Bills lose to Steelers - then fire McD - then hire BB. This board would crash lol Good thing we gonna smash Steelers and go on to win the SB
  4. Congrats, mine came last May and he is almost 8 months now. Its the absolute best! TIRING but the best and totally worth it!
  5. They explained the noise in the movie. You might have missed that, but they did explain it. You can DM me if you want so I don’t do spoilers here
  6. If I am being honest about that play, Josh delivered the ball a little behind Johnson whereas had he led him more he could have had a better shot at diving for the score before the impact. Johnson had to turn all the way back towards the LOS to make that catch and then turn back towards the endzone at which time he was immediately hit. Not sure he scores either way, but he definitely would have had a little better chance had he not have had to turn back for the ball and caught it in front on him so he could make the dive.
  7. I found the movie interesting as well. Its not everyones taste...with society having such short attention spans now, a lot of people don't like things unless stuff is blowing up everywhere and non stop action. But I do enjoy when movies kind of bring you along through a movie creating a tone, vibe, experience etc. I didn't love the ending, but I also didn't hate it either as it was at least pretty clear to what happened and what was gonna happen next unlike the Sopranos where they just left everything open to interpretation by the viewer. Although admittedly I initially hated the Sopranos ending the moment it happened, I later came to appreciate it, especially when I watched it through a second time. Im actually about to start it over for a 3rd time since my wife has never seen it, so excited to do that as I watched it again during COVID and enjoyed it as much as I did the first time.
  8. As I mentioned earlier, I think the end of year vote weighs too much on recency bias with the end games and overlooks the bulk of the season. Here is a thread about some alternate ideas on how to handle the MVP race
  9. I totally agree with the others like Stephen A Smith, but I find Pat much more fun, authentic, straight shooter. Skip and all those other fools are all just fake laughs, fake rage, scripted arguments, and beyond stupid takes for the sake or creating "he said what" moments and bickering. Pat and the crew just are more straight shooters and talk sports like we talk sports with friends kind of dudes. At least for me, but like anything, everyone has their own tastes and opinions.
  10. You don't like Pat? I feel like him and a few others like Eisner are the only ones worth watching or listening to anymore.
  11. DISCLAIMER: THIS IS NOT A THREAD TO DEBATE THE MVP AND WHO IT SHOULD BE. It is about is there a better way to conduct voting than just one vote at the end of the year. MVP voting is entirely too reliant on RECENCY BIAS and also heavily favors QB's. Games down the stretch too strongly sway votes. Not saying there isn't extra value in coming up big in say big games late in the season, because there is, but its too skewed to right now where voting is too impacted by the most recent games. For example - Lamar is the clear front runner to win because him and the Ravens had their 2 best games down the stretch beating the Niners and Miami (1 seed NFC and then 2 seed AFC) decisively in back to back weeks. They got hot at the right time, especially to help Lamar's MVP case even though the rest of the season wasn't as good as he was in those 2 games. On the flip side, Lamars big 2 weeks started against both Purdy and McCaffrey who had their own MVP cases but both are completely out of the race even though you can make a case that both Purdy and McCaffrey had better seasons than Lamar. Had this game took place say week 3, then Purdy and CMC might very well be in the thick of the race as would potentially other players considering Lamars overall season wasn't as good as his final 2 games played. So here is what I think would be a better way to do this: Season long MVP voting or scoring system Rather than have voters wait until the season ends to vote where the only thing fresh in their minds are the most recent showings, they should award points to candidates as the season progresses. I have 2 different ideas on how to do this...one pretty simple and straight forward, and one little more complex and interesting. First and simplest one: Vote for MVP every week starting after week 4. Only the players receiving top 10 votes receiver points Each player receiving votes will recieve points based on that vote. First place votes are worth 10, amount, 2nd place 9, and so on. Recognizing that late season games often are more important, have more at stake, more pressure etc as teams jockey for playoffs and seeding, you can weight the scoring on those weeks a little higher. Starting week 15 votes carry increased value - say something from 125% to 150% scoring value. Alternate - Maybe only the last vote carries more value say double points (200%) All votes remain sealed until the end of the season, so no one knows where the votes are to avoid influencing late season voting. Player who accumulates the most points from the voting process by season end will be MVP. In the event of a tie then CO-MVP's or let the NFL players vote amongst the tied players and person with most votes wins. NOTE: If you still want some additional weight or value for late season votes where maybe the games are bigger and more important Second one: Season long scoring system where you score the players every 3 weeks (6 times). Each voter lists their top 10 players of that 3 week period who were at an MVP level. They then score each player based on their performances. This would probably include some fixed scoring and opinion based scoring Fixed scoring examples: Win = 1 point, 0 points for a loss, .5 points for big game in a losing effort Opinion scoring example: MVP Score per game - 0.0 to 3.0 based on how you feel they played each game. Huge game maybe its a 2.9 or 3.0. Slow first half but big second half maybe its 2.2. Maybe that second half included some critical game winning play and that gets bumped up to a 2.4 or 2.6 for example. You can make the scoring as simple as this or as complex as you want with lots of scoring categories. But at the end of the day, what really matters is that there is a season long tally that will help determine who had the best season and should be the MVP of the league. Again, these scores remain sealed until the end of the season so voters don't feel compelled to try and sway voting in any one period. At the end of the season, the players finish the MVP race based on total scoring. In the event of a tie, you the NFL players vote on the tied finalist with most votes being MVP or you could simply have Co-MVPs in a tie as well. Personally, this would be better than just asking a bunch of voters to vote once the season is over where recency bias weighs to heavy. Plus, with a fair scoring system, this might actually give players OTHER than QB's a better chance to win MVP.
  12. Also, the MVP system is broken IMHO. It's too influenced by recency bias where you can steal or lose the MVP in the final weeks of the season erasing everything that happened prior to that. Lamar will win it, but his entire season isn't the most impressive over several other guys, he just had the biggest 2 weeks of his season as his last 2 games while the other candidates either had a bad week/loss (Purdy, McCaffrey, etc) or may have won but not in an impressive fashion like Allen.
  13. Not saying what I think should happen...but what I think would happen: Lets be real, our defense has been the better unit down the stretch here. Brady helped the offense, but the defense has been more impressive. And if we did get upset by Steelers, its likely our offense that sputters given Steelers are not exactly lighting up scoreboards. So unless it was a bad blow out loss, I would think McD is probably safe at this point with management and a poor showing by the offense with TJ Watt out would put Brady's return in serious doubt and he probably wouldn't be back. McD is back in a LOT of peoples good graces right now...but watch how fast they turn on him again if we lose this game. But end of the day, its about what the people who employ him think and I think they will give him one more season after the comeback to win a 4th straight AFCE Title and the 2 seed again, especially considering how well he has the defense playing during the final stretch.
  14. I agree, and it is why I do think Brady will be the OC next year. The team is now 6-1 since he was named interim OC and he hasn't really been able to install "his" offense yet. So as long as the offense just doesn't completely crap the bed in the playoffs, I think its more likely he is back as OC. But when I say he hasn't earned it yet...well for example if we are upset and lose to the Steelers because the offense struggles and costs us the game, then I think his job is definitely not safe.
  15. Brady is the better OC than Dorsey for this team, and that is pretty indisputable despite some peoples best efforts. BUT that does not mean Brady is owed the OC job full time next year either. The offense hasn't been clicking on all cylinders the last 3 games where we have squeaked out wins against teams we should have blown out. Winning is all that matters, but when it comes to removing the interim tag, how his unit performs also matters. Brady obviously has earned consideration for the job full time, but he hasn't "earned" the job yet IMHO. How he and the offense fare in the postseason I think will play a big part on whether he remains or they look to hire someone else.
  16. Cook has dropped multiple short throws for sure TD's this year. His hands are unreliable. Cooks sweet spot is dump off passes or screens. Throws where Cook runs some sort of route where he being asked to catch the ball in stride of a route is where he struggles with catching the ball. There are RB's you can ask to run a route and get him the ball...Cook isn't that guy, he can't reliably catch those passes regardless of short or medium distance throws. Screens and dump offs are where Cook is better suited.
  17. PREACH ON! Ive been preaching this for 2 seasons now...loved loved loved the pick on draft night. Heading into the draft he was talked about potentially going as high as the 2nd, but I expected more like the third. To get him in the 5th blew my mind, I had not even realized he was still there. I said this in another thread...If you insert Shakir into the Rams offense in place of Nacua this year, I think Shakir has a similar season. Not a knock on Nacua, kid can ball, I just think Shakir can too and would excel in that kind of role. If the Bills are going to win the SB this year, its going to take involvement from Shakir. He has made so many important plays for this team this year and I think we are a better offense when he is more involved.
  18. I can’t believe you’re still defending Dorsey. You are either Dorsey or related to Dorsey. There is no other explanation. Seriously.
  19. Agreed, there is no one I would rather have than Josh. But he won’t win MVP this year..:but also, who cares if he does or doesn’t. I want him to win SB MVP
  20. Bills have the second best record in the AFC thanks to help like critical injuries across the AFC landscape, especially at QB. It’s not like they dominated. We were not even assured a playoff spot until Sunday afternoon. So suddenly Bills squeak out a close win against a flailing Dolphins team to go from 7th seed to 2nd seed and now some of you want to puff up your Bills chests as if we are some beasts all year? Come on, you can be a fan and be realistic at the same time. It’s remarkable the Bills turned it around, and we can def make the SB this year. But that doesn’t change the fact that Josh had more below average to bad games than he had good games. I’m done with this discussion. Lamar will not only win, it will be a landslide win and could be near unanimous. Allen has no shot this year. You know why? Because he doesn’t need paragraphs and paragraphs of explanations of why he had a bunch of bad games and tons of turnovers because he didn’t have those issues. Josh needs those explanations to even to be considered which is why he won’t win.
  21. You mean the same Chiefs team that lost at home 20-14 to the Raiders? Same team that also loss 24-9 to the Broncos and 4 other teams? That Chiefs team? So you’re saying Dak (no idea why you brought him up when we are talking about Lamar) has no chance of beating the Chiefs at arrowhead? Come on lol. You guys are just badly and desperately grasping at straws, and irrelevant ones now to try and make your home town boy the MVP. I would lovvvvve to see Josh win it, but it’s not his year to win it.
  22. None of that matters. You know Allen’s turnover rate is the same under Brady as it was under Dorsey right? You know Allen’s passing stats are relatively pedestrian since Eagles game right? I was the one banging the loudest drum to fire Dorsey. The offense is better since Brady took over, but not because the passing offense improved, but because we run the ball now and that’s helped bail out pass game struggles to win close games where we had been losing close games under Dorsey who didn’t run the ball.
  23. How is this a real comment? Do you even know what thread you are in or what the MVP trophy is for? Let me help you…it’s for the most recent regular season. They don’t hand it out based on career playoff records LMAO. This is the most irrelevant comment in the whole thread lol.
  24. I hate that I agree with you on most of this…but I do. I feel like I need a shower now 😂 Allen had 5 standout games (Raiders, Wash, 1st Miami, 2nd Jets, and Eagles. But we still lost one of them (Eagles) when a bad Allen INT helped start an Eagles comeback they eventually won. The rest of the games Allen and the offense underperformed, and ranged from bad to just ok
  25. Again, Allen played one more game than Lamar, so yardage is irrelevant as they are close to equal if Lamas plays final game and could have even over taken Allen. You’ve been told this multiple times, but still ignore it. And 2 wins is a TON in the NFL where teams with TIED records aren’t in the playoffs. And the fact that Bills were not even assured a playoff spot in the final weekend you would think you would know that. Not to mention, Lamar didn’t get that last loss as he didn’t play. Again, he only has the total TDs over Lamar. Lamar is better in every other metric or rating than Allen this year. So again, all you have done is cherry pick 2 “season total” stats, one of which is irrelevant cuz they are near equal. But ignored Allen’s dubious stats on INTs and total Turnovers, worse record, worse efficiency and ratings, etc etc. You can’t build an MVP campaign on just total TDs when Allen doesn’t beat Lamar in much anything else. This is the most homer conversation I have ever seen. I love Allen, I would win money if Allen got MVP and owe money if he doesn’t and I still would not vote for Allen over Lamar. Allen was robbed of the Pro Bowl though
