Melvin Gordon is the first RB off the board, most likely in the first. He's fantastic now that he built up some bulk. I think it's just assumed by most here that we don't really have a shot at him. My draft board on RBs is Gordon, Gurley, The Duke. The rest I don't care about as I think they are all pretty similar run of the mill type guys.

I've said this numerous times in numerous threads. People just want to be haters, grass is always greener sort of thing. Without reading responses I'm betting some posters are writing something along the lines of stats don't tell the whole story, Carr just looks better, all the pundits like Carr more, the Bills have way more talent than the Raiders or some combination thereof. What they will conveniently forget to mention is how our offensive coaching and play calling during EJs time here was the, hands down, worst in the league. EJ was straight up handcuffed by those guys. They are the ones who taught him to not lose games rather than try to win them and it was readily apparent in my opinion. Also, Derek Carr looked terrible against the Bills. He threw up two jump balls that were caught and that is all he did. We lost that game b/c Dareus was lost to injury and we couldn't stop the run. Now he does look to be better than EJ and could soon be a star.

I'm not as concerned about Gurley's knee as some are. This is not the knee injury that McGahee or Lattimore suffered where their entire knees were completely destroyed, this was pretty much just the run of the mill ACL tear. Typically, you are around 100% after 6 months. He will be fine. If he happens to be there at 50, we should be sprinting to the podium. As soon as Gordon is selected we should be weighing our options for trading up in the draft room. When the cost becomes our second and something like next years 3rd, do it. This guy is going to be a special back. One that makes you say, "well, I guess truly elite RBs are not a dime a dozen."

Of those players, Duke Johnson, hands down.

Me too!

An excellent player for sure but I think our money is better spent elsewhere than WR. I really liked what Hogan had to offer as our #3 last year and would like to see Sammy, Woods and Hogan be our main guys. Spend the money on the glaring issues of OL and TE first in FA and then have freedom in the draft to get a good, young RB, a second or third round QB, and fill in the depth with the rest. If he's willing to come for say $5M, then lets do it, but I think he'll still command more in the $8M range.

Cody Kessler is the QB to go after next year. Cook is playing second fiddle. You'll change your tune sometime during next season, mark it down.

Too many crab legs for Winston?(update: pro day info)

I predict that no QB is selected first overall and that TB may actually trade down and select Jameis or Marcus later in the first. I see too many off-field issues for Jameis to go #1 and I see too much "rawness" in Marcus to go #1. Just a hunch. -
Would you trade our 2016 1st rd pick for Drew Brees?

I don't think there is any chance the Saints move on from him. But if they do, then hell yeah I would want him. Anyone who says "but he's an indoor QB" or "his arm isn't strong enough for the weather" really needs to take into account that we really only have one or two bad weather games a year. -
It's the same thing. Strength of schedule goes from hardest to easiest. Your list goes from easiest to hardest.

Mike Evans was seen as a poor route runner with only straight line speed and less than stellar hands. OBJ was seen as small and unable to make catches over defenders. Watkins is fast, big, strong, amazing hands, can run routes, can jump, etc. His only knock was one off field incident.

So when exactly is "crunch time" if it's not on game winning drives?
-
You are completely overlooking the point that Sammy was the only WR seen as a Sure Thing going into the draft. You can't look at the deal after the fact but should look at it with the information that was available at the time.

I can't believe we have a thread on a backup offensive lineman that is now 7 pages long. That is all.

He was a 4 year starter and he has never been considered a "big arm guy" but an average NFL arm guy. Glennon is a "big arm guy" for example.

Report: Broncos could part ways with Manning
Mark80 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Titans are not in a position to win even if they got Manning. I can't see him continuing his playing career for anything but a shot at another Championship. -

Says who? Doug Marrone? He was saddled with the worst offensive coaching staff in the league in his two seasons. Can we please, please, please just give this guy a bit of a chance before we just throw him away. -
Yeah, he really stepped up in those 3 wins. Give me a break. And FYI EJ has 3 game winning drives on his stat sheet, Blake Bortles...0. Nice try though.

His performance at the end of the year is very concerning to me. Is that leg going to fully heal up? -
What about Luck, Manning, Roethlisberger, Flacco, Wilson, Eli to name a few who all started at least 1/2 their rookie season games (and many from day 1)? There are just as many examples on each side of the fence which tells me that it doesn't really matter either way. Not to mention the long list of guys who failed after sitting (as well as a the list of guys who failed starting from day 1).

Mark80 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No doubt, but my point was that there is a difference between completing passes to open receivers and constantly hitting open receivers in stride allowing for huge YAC and big plays. If you are throwing them in stride then it hints at very good accuracy. Now, reading the NFL D's and knowing where to throw it is a completely different animal than having the ability to throw it exactly where you want. -
By all accounts, though, Rodgers was absolutely shredding defenses in practice during that time. For what it's worth. I'm sick of this Carr talk crap. Can someone show me a shred of evidence that this clown is better than EJ because his stats and what I saw during the two or three games I watched of him sure as heck don't show that. Bridgewater had an impressive rookie season though.

I also agree with you guys. Of the Baylor games I watched he was consistently hitting guys in stride all game long. Sure, there were some misses, but who the heck doesn't miss some passes??? -

It's almost worth trading up a bit to get Maxx Williams or Clive Walford. Perhaps wait until one is selected (most likely Maxx at this point) and then make a move. If they both happen to be there still, well then, run to the podium. My only hesitation would be if Gurley was still there.
