I like being the first game on the first day. That was what it was like in the 90s. Bills win and get to root/watch other games unfold.

Chris Simms speculated that they would play the starters. He said the decision would be made by Wednesday and executed by the team on Thursday and Friday. Practice closed to press on Wednesday but opened later in week. I strongly suspect press knows and is keeping a lid on it. We’ll know soon enough. Count me in the camp of pedal to the metal. I think there is chance to hone play against a stout defense.

The thing is, in my mind, it’s about buzz. The Bills completing a sweep of prime time games could be changing the narrative. The JA accolades have been pouring in for weeks. He’s THE most talked about athlete now for a month straight and all he has done is ball out on one national telecast after another. I just rewatched the Pitt game. Collingsworth was gushing all game long about him. If your conscience mind wants Rodgers, the exposure JA has had in the last month tops everyone in the MVP race effecting your subconscious mind. I heard today he is tops in fantasy football too (can’t confirm, swore off FF years ago). It’s getting noticed. It might be too little, too late to stop Aaron, but if Mack has a game and Aaron stumbles a bit AND Josh plays AND beats a tough Miami defense, there might be momentum there.

Peter King wrote in his column this week about Tua: 17. I can’t pick out one throw that Tua Tagovailoa made in Las Vegas that was a big-time, winning throw, and he played all but the last 10 minutes of a must-win game.

I just finished watching the Daboll interview. He said MNF was the first game the Bills O had no pre-snap penalties. I tracked they had three penalties in the game. I remember two of them, the PI on White and the holding call on the return. The other doesn't matter. I see this as a major improvement going forward. Part of it I attribute to the OLine playing in the same position for a few games now. Keep it going. These are the subtle but important changes that make a good team, a playoff winning team.

Could Josh be a dark horse candidate for the MVP race this weekend? I know the consensus is it's Aarons... But what if... Consider this argument: MyMahomey is staying home for week 17. Rodgers just lost his all-world LT and needs to face a hungry Bears team wanting a playoff berth. What if Rodgers stubs his toe against the Bears and.. Josh balls out against the Dolphins to secure the number 2 seed. What if Josh puts up something like 250 and 3 TDS in a win? Would that, could that, should that do it?

If I’m Tua and his agent, I’m most worried about the word “spark” being associated with his play. Tua couldn’t have been more pedestrian in his play against the Raiders. And the two times Fitz came in recently the game script, action and momentum immediately flipped. Immediately. The best thing that ironically happened for Tua and maybe long term for the Dolphins was Fitz is not available to play in the next 2 games. Tua gets to play good/bad/ugly without the threat of being yanked for a spark. He will learn and grow from the outcomes of these games either way. I suspect he plays less tentative now.

I wonder if Ray Lewis does any off season player development? I was watching him recently dissect plays from the MLB point of view. He struck me as someone who could be a very good coach. Jordan Palmer works with Allen, maybe Edmunds needs a similar guru.
