What it does do is eat ~six hours out of your Friday on a short week already. And six hours is being generous. 2 hours preparing to leave, 2 hours in the air and 2 hours getting to hotel and settling in. They lose those six hours on a very short week that Buffalo gets to use productively. -

Heard a new term today. Arm arrogance. Describing Allen and his belief he can make any throw anywhere on the field. He had two incredible TDs this week. The no look to Mckenzie where he stared down the safety and froze him. If you haven’t seen it, watch again from the endzone look behind Josh. The safety watching the ball sail to his left was priceless. It was incredible. The second was the beautiful stripe to John Brown. Oh my god was that pretty. -

I was openly rooting for this matchup. Good luck. I wanted Balt-Tenn-KC to eliminate two of the competitors I didn’t want in round 1. Seeing Indy “struggle a bit” with the Jags while watching Balt and Tenn scoring big points reinforced it. You have hit a team playing as well as any team in Buffalo history. They’re healthy, hungry, honing and still humble. As a life long Bills fan I now expect them to play well. What a great feeling after wandering the NFL netherworlds for decades. -
Welcome to the off season. What happens in Vegas apparently doesn't stay in Vegas after all.

Did blowout make Sean McDermott favorite for COY?

I think it should go to Bill Belichick. It takes pure chutzpah to put that QB on the field for 15 games. He has my vote. -
In my mind, he doesn't sniff the field. Dance with who brung ya. He is an injury call up at best.

JJ and Gary. We barely knew ya...

A Few Thoughts About the Dolphins Game, in no particular order
wjag replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To Tua or not to Tua, that is the question. Flores acted like a typical coach in my opinion. Tua was his draft pick. He and his cronies wanted to validate their pick. So, no surprise, they pulled the rug out from Fitzpatrick. The Miami D in what I consider the most puzzling game of the season beats the Rams. And then the Cardinals game happened. The GMFB hype train was running full throttle with "Tua Time." It was everywhere. Where the kool aid was drunk in Miami, in my opinion was the H2H with Herbert/Chargers where they played even up against each other and Miami edged out a win. At this juncture, Miami looks like they can compete with Buffalo for the AFC East. The Denver game was the pivotal game where Flores changed from developing a player to playing for the playoffs. Can you blame him? But in the process, he broke Tua. In comes Fitz and he looks like everything that Tua is not. He doesn't win, but gone now is the Tua Time narrative to be replaced with the "relief pitcher" or "the spark." Tua doesn't look the same since. I think Tua's confidence was shaken. And then comes Fitz to the rescue with the play of his vagabond, playoff-less career and he beats the Raiders providing the spark that Tua did not have. Now Tua looks broken. Flores tried to have it both ways and ended up with what is likely to be the worst defeat of his promising career. He wasted a brilliant season for the Miami defense. He has the Miami fan base split between "Tua" or "Not Tua." Covid robbed us and them from knowing what would have, should have, could have been with a Fitz start. But I think we all know that game would have ended differently- score wise- with a Fitz start. If Fitz is in there in the second half, I think he leads them on multiple scoring drives. -
So, we're rooting for Pittsburgh next week, right?

Round 1 Playoff: Colts at Bills - Sat. 1/9 1:05pm

To me the one game on the docket that could be a blow out (either way) is the Baltimore-Tennessee game. Tennessee is awful on 3rd down and defense. But they have a battering ram for a RB that had Baltimore DBs running for cover last year. Baltimore just rushed for 400 yards. I could see them dismantling the Titans too by rushing it down their throats. My gut tells me Ravens are motivated to stand up to the Titans who beat them this year in week 10 and derailed last year's coronation. -
Every time there is a new post in here, I hold my breath. The virus is the great equalizer of the NFL playoffs. You almost feel like one team is going to get the shaft and the numbers of which team it is are dwindling. So far Tennessee, Cleveland and Baltimore have got through the worst they are likely to see. Most teams have had some inconveniences to either players, schedule or both. But it just feels like there is one bombshell revelation to hit before we get to the Superbowl.

A Few Thoughts About the Dolphins Game, in no particular order
wjag replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
#1. His role is increasing with each week. Has to be scaring the bee jee bees out of teams that do all they can to contain the triplets. His underneath, in the flat routes, are open more times than not. I see all these games as seasoning. He has flashed this year. I think he could be great next year. #2. That game plan was simply baffling to me. I think Tua needs an offseason with Jordan Palmer. I don't know how many screens or 3 yard passes he threw yesterday, but it felt like several games worth. Parker showed the ability to beat coverage. I will be interested to see the ALL 22 to see if they were running deep routes with Gisecki, Parker and Ford. I clearly remember Ford dropping two deep passes. Ford's drops were big. Dolphins need another WR to complement Parker. #3. True for Marlow. Also true for every player stuck on the depth charts below the starters. I count 32 different names in the stat sheet this AM. Add in the OLINE which was probably another 8 guys. And there was probably another 6-10 guys on special teams that got in the game but not the stat sheet. About the only guy who appears to have sat yesterday was Roberts. -

No one said be afraid, maybe respect, not be dismissive of, is a better approach. This is the matchup I wanted. Doesn't mean it will be easy. Rivers is a cagey veteran. Ty Hilton is a legit WR1 but is definitely getting long in the tooth. Taylor is a 1000 yard back with low mileage on his legs being a rookie. Reich is an offensive minded coach. Buckner is good Dlineman. If they can be attacked anywhere, it seems their secondary has some holes. They had a lengthy injury report which included Buckner and Hilton, but both played yesterday. Their Dline got six sacks. Early in the season, they were a stout defense. Colts have scored >=24 points in 8 straight games. So respect, not fear. -
As the Tua churns. Reading the Dolphins board this week, you get the distinct impression that half the fan base wants another option at QB. No fan base wants to go out like that yesterday. That is going to lead a bad taste in their mouth right up until the number 3 pick in the NFL draft. What they do with that pick will be heavily scrutinized.

Pretty amazing that Jonathan Taylor out rushed Derrick, aka King Henry yesterday 253-250. Taylor had an 8.3 yard per rush average. There are four great rushing teams in the AFC: Tennessee, Indianapolis, Cleveland and Baltimore. The playoffs are going to be a battle. -
A baker's dozen thoughts on the game, focused mainly on the players other than Allen and Diggs: 1. Never ever, not even in the heydays of the K-Gun, do I recall a team that went for the jugular like the Bills of the 2020's. 2. Barkley throwing a bomb to Davis was just astounding especially considering the game was already won. Buffalo has been trying to hit that route the last few games. Davis made a heckuva grab. 107 yards receiving on 2 catches. 2!!! Barkley balled out yesterday. 3. Bojo with just an incredible punt. Now that is how you execute a coffin corner. 4. Antonio Williams went from who to TJ Yeldon who? 12-63, 2 TDs and a 5.3 yards per rush average, behind a back up line against a front line defense. Just amazing. The RB coach seemingly was the only one who knew. 5. McKenzie came to play. The only thing he didn't do well yesterday, and it's a nit, is he allowed Van Ginkel to catch him on a sweep for no gain. 6. The Bills roasted, toasted and flat out embarrassed the highest paid secondary in the league. Miami did get two INTs to their credit with Jones making an absolute beaut of one. 7. In another example of how deep this team is, Mike Love gets elevated from the PS and makes a huge TFL to stall a Phins drive. 8. In a game the Bills absolutely dominated from the second quarter on, the Bills lost the TOP 32-28. If you didn't watch the game and just read the box score, you would be hard pressed to understand how the Bills won by 30 points. Consider these stats: Total offense: Buf 455 Mia 454!!; Passing: Mia 384 Buf 377; Rushing: Buf 78 Mia 74 9. A ST, Def and Off TD in the same game. As I live and breathe. Finished the second straight week with just three penalties. 10. Players deserving a shout out from yesterday: Dean Marlowe, Taron Johnson, Dane Jackson, Tyler Matakevich, Siran Neal and Josh Norman. Boy the JV defense came to show out. 3 INTs and a FR. 11. Devante Parker made two beautiful sideline grabs against Levi. The only Dolphin player that brought his A game yesterday. 12. Game balls to McDermott, Dabol, Frasier and every single position coach on the Bills. Brandon Beane, that is one impressive roster, from 1-63, you have assembled. 13. The John Brown 32 yard TD was exquisite. The route, the throw, the catch in stride -- the entire execution of the play was flawless. Welcome back John!!!!!!!!!!
