Colts benching Matt Ryan per Reich Benched regardless of injury
wjag replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
I can't see how Frank Reich survives this. Colts are giving Cleveland a run for their 'revolving door QB' approach. -
That's a real hit to their offense. And what makes matters worse is he was lost in a game they likely could have won without him.

Week 8: SNF Packers at Bills (-10.5) 10/30 8:20pm

Cobb was DNP all week. I think I read Lazar was hobbled at the game in DC. They really are thin at WR now. -
The Saffold Report - Week 6, Bills v. Chefs, 10/16/22

Understood. I was thinking -2. Still appreciate the effort on your part. -
The reduction of alcohol sales, metal detectors and insane $$$s they charge have all worked to reduce bad behavior in the stands. Back in my day, you weren't nuthin if you could not sneak in at least four beers and a flask filled with your favorite spirit.

The Saffold Report - Week 6, Bills v. Chefs, 10/16/22

I like the scoring system, but I would suggest one scoring tweak. Assess a larger negative if he gets beat for a sack or gets called for a hold. Sacks and holding penalties are game changing plays. So he played 77 plays and ended up with a +39. What would be the scale "F "to "A"? -
So I went there to see for myself. Damn. Probably on the order of 50+ posts and 90% positive. What alternate universe are we living in?

Allen back to back offensive player of the week
wjag replied to loyal2dagame's topic in The Stadium Wall
Allen threw 3 impressive TD passes. I read this yesterday: Knox COULD NOT hear Allen in the huddle. It was so loud that he was forced to read lips. So he really didn’t know for sure what play Allen called. Crazy. -
A Few Thoughts about the Chiefs Game, in no particular order
wjag replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
I really can’t express adequately in words what JA17 and PH15 means to football. And as much as KC and Buffalo fans may not want to admit it, they are both necessary for the good of the game. No one wants another era of football where one QB and one team dominate the league. The KC-Buf series is compelling, must see TV. And both fan bases have their heart in their throat watching every drop back. And the best part is that you don’t know the outcome. The 2 QBs have vastly different styles but are both as dangerous as anyone has been in the league for years. How lucky we are to watch it. Brady and Rodgers rarely played H2H. Brady and Manning did but only 10 or so times in their careers. Josh and Patrick have played 5 times already, likely a 6th time later this year and a 7th time next year and both are only 26-27 years old. We could be looking at a series between them of 15-20 or more times over their careers. And I’m here for it. -
And walk away with your brain and knees intact.

All I know is that before the season started the chatter on the interwebs was 'yeah Josh Allen is good but they lost Daboll and we don't know about Dorsey'. That chatter is gone and buried now.

Josh Allen is the best quarterback, no... player in the NFL
wjag replied to Scott7975's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’ve watched as much replay analysis I could find since the game. The TD pass to Gabe was a perfect throw. The TD pass to Diggs was also a great throw. The TD pass to Knox was exquisite. Even the defenders didn’t look that upset. There was nothing they could do on that Knox TD. -
Tua better hope Heyward doesn’t catch him.

Well a good test of this is coming. Packers have two big backs and are likely going to try and run on the Bills. -
Did we just teach the NFL how to defend against KC?
wjag replied to PrimeTime101's topic in The Stadium Wall
I saw an interview with Von early in the season when talking about Allen. He was oozing praise on Allen and spoke of why it was so difficult to play QB. He basically said, Allen has to be right all the time. I only need to win once or twice a game. Makes sense to me. He had nine pressures, 2 Sacks, a key tackle when Mahomes escaped the pocket and was heading for a first down. Play ended up with a missed FG. He had the key sack to get Mahomes off the field on 3 and out which gave the ball back to Buffalo. And one other tidbit. He was NOT on the field when Mahomes scrambled and found Hardman in the endzone for the TD. -

I really believe this is the difference. Last year in games the Bills lost, a good running team (Titans (143 yds from primary carriers), Colts (185), Patriots (111, 78), Bucs (113) Jags (67) ) were able to eat clock and keep the Bills off the field and keep the score closer. This year, so far, teams are getting no where running on the Bills. That adds enormous pressure to keep up with the Allens. Which plays right in to the pass rush. Phillips, Jones, Settle are doing the job in the middle. Which frees up Milano and Edmunds to clean up the corners. -

As I recall, one Bills defender fell down trying to make the tackle and right in the path of a chaser who tripped. The third guy had to go around and lost time and momentum. Credit JuJu for avoiding the wreck. Yeah I agreed it did look a bit like the Keystone Kops on that play. -

I think we all know the achilles heel of the Bills is a stout DLINE going up against the Bills OLINE. Chris Jones, Frank Clark and Bolden all played really well and caused trouble. Chiefs get back Willie Gay starting this week which adds some additional potency to their rush. -

Yeah I was going to go with Nope... I think what the Bills showed is the type of players you need, not necessarily the scheme. Like any QB in the league you have to get them moving to disrupt their timing. And with guys like Mahomes and Allen, you have to just pray once you get them moving you can contain the crazy that ensues. -
Uncle Charlie Pulls Up To His Nephewww Stefon Diggs Game!
wjag replied to Dr Krentist's topic in The Stadium Wall
I sat in front of a guy like that at the Bills-Ravens game. Maybe not quite that bad, but he was insufferable until the Bills pulled ahead. He was pretty quiet after that, but boy-oh-boy was he tough to be around. And he was right behind me so he was basically screaming Bills profanity for 3 quarters right into my ears. At one point I turned around to see who it was and realized he was twice my size. So I just took it. But when the Bills finally won, I turned around and gave him the biggest grin I could manage. No words were necessary. -
OBJ: Of course they will. Their knowledge is cue card deep. Burns: Interesting. Fire sale going on in Carolina

Actually this would make a lot of sense to me. Buffalo just smoked their secondary and the two guys they have coming back are a rookie and Fenton. They need help especially in the pass happy division they play in.
