But ultimately it was the defense and the stands they took to stop the Charger offense and keep them from scoring which resulted in the Win and of course the Bills points

I agree with you.  I do wonder though if the Chargers weren't 3-7 at the time would they have gone for it on 4th and 1?  Those three points they left on the field made a big difference in the final outcome.  Especially considering the last minute of play.

Shanahan will run at you and he’ll pick you apart with shifty players getting into space, within 15 yards, and he the TE involved.

Be an interesting balance between the Sam and Nickel.

My gut says they’ll play majority Sam as you stop the run against the Niners you stop their primary weapon

Yep.  They rushed 33 times for 115 against the Rams.  With Mostert back and getting his legs under him, I expect a heavy dose next week.

    Great post.

BTW, if the Bills "found a way to win," then the Pats "found a way to win" for like 20 years.  Every Pats/Bills game has been the same-- they cruise out to a lead, they toy with us and let us back in the game a little, and then win it in the end. That happened every year, pretty must twice per year, for 18 straight years.

    Except those Randy Moss years...

  4. I agree.  They had a few moments when it could have gone sideways, but they were stout when they needed to be.  No points given up on those turnovers.  K. Allen was neutralized.  They held the Chargers under 100 yards rushing and managed the game with the lead.   That TD coming out of the half was huge.  It carried the momentum over.

    Really tough game

I’m really concerned about our offense right now. Allen’s rookie mistakes are creeping back up again at times and without Brown we look average as hell in the pass game

Getting the run game going will help but I think we will need to score 25+to win this one

It's 2020, you need to score 25 or more in every game to win.  Unless you are playing the bottom feeders

This is so true. Look at the Raiders. They beat the Chiefs the 1st time and then gave them a really good game the 2nd time. Yesterday they get their asses kicked by a bad Falcons team 43-6. I guess the bandwagon on the Gruden/Raiders  will get lighter this week.

Should cool off the GMFB crew who were uber hyping them last week.

  7. Never broken anything..  Wife bought me a nerf brick years ago.  Used to toss that.  Most thing at risk is the bones in my hand as I slam the chair,  🙂

It's good that things are at risk again.  Haven't been this keyed up over Bills football since the 90's.

And another positive for the Ravens

Yeah that was yesterday.  Today will be important.  If they get another positive today, then this is still working through their team.  They have so far judged these all to be incubation period positives, so all from the same coach.  Interesting to watch the Steelers too.

    Many positives:

    1. Bills recently played there... familiarity helps

    2. Extra day to get healthy (Josh ankle mostly)

    3. Glad SF won today.  Bills take them more seriously and  SF less "due" for a win

    Go Bills

As crazy as it seems, I think this is the most important weekend to decide the division.  Hear me out.

Bills vs 9ers, Dolphins vs Bengals.

Dolphins essentially get a pass this weekend while Buffalo has to travel to an in-the-hunt team, getting healthier and coming off an impressive win.

After this weekend, tough games equal out for both teams

    BUF: Pitt, @Den, @NE, MIA

    MIA: Chiefs, Raiders, @NE, @BUF

Bills magic number is 4.  A one game lead after this week will be huge.  A tied division will make it MORE of a nail biter.  They still would have a 1/2 edge with a tie, but 1.5 after this week would feel a lot more comfortable. I'm sure Dolphins fans see this as a loss for the Bills.  Early in the year before the injuries hit 9ers, that would be an easy one to mark down as a L.  Now, with the way the Bills are playing, this is more of a toss up in my mind.  It could go either way.

  10. my game day thoughts.

    1.  That fourth quarter was nuts.  N*U*T*S*.  We won, no holding call, we won, no turnover, we won field goal.

    2.  Two Hail Mary's completed on back to back plays, one counted.

    3.  The last minute play calling by the Chargers may just be the WORST in NFL history.

    4.  Allen's INT was clearly effected by the pash rush, but I wonder if his ankle played a role in this too?  Maybe he could not plant on it effectively.

    5.  Curious game plan that forgot about Diggs in the first half.

    6.  Was that THE QUIETEST 175 rushing yards in a game?  I was pretty surprised to see that number flash up. It just didn't seem like that many to me.

    7.  Beasley is such a good receiver.  Why he doesn't get 10 targets every game is a mystery to me.

    8.  I was sure they were going to throw a TD to the OLINE.  On the Knox TD, I'm pretty sure I saw an OLINE eligible in the end zone.

    9.  With each kick Bass makes, I am getting more comfortable.

    10. Bojorquez was booming punts yesterday.

    11. Bills LBs had themselves a day.  Looking forward to getting a healthy Milano back.

    12. Bills played K Allen about as well as one can play him.  His best play of the day was when Allen crushed the Bills CB allowing the RB to get a big run.

    13. Five OLINE started, same five OLINE finished.

    14. On to San Francisco ...  or Tempe.. or ...

Here’s another one they seem happy to ignore:

“Protocol violations that result in virus spread requiring adjustments to the schedule or otherwise impacting other teams will result in additional financial and competitive discipline, including the adjustment or loss of draft choices or even the forfeit of a game,” Goodell wrote in the memo obtained by The Associated Press.

the Associated Press dropped off the last clause ", when it suits me."

My guess is we won't see Brown until next season.  I think the Bills want to get him completely healed up.  Kumerow is a completely different kind of receiver.  It will be interesting to see if Daboll uses Kumerow, and if so, how.

Teams don’t have any tape on him in the Bills system, so that could be to our advantage.  He’s going to have a memorable game tomorrow.  He can run Smokes deep routes and help clear things out for Diggs.
