Anybody see what the dudes cap hit is this year? $25M? Wow

A very un-patriot-like number.  It's almost dear I say, unpatriotic?

That's the real reason Brady left, the CB1 was making more coin than the QB1.  🙂

When I first heard Brady was leaving NE, I still believed the Patriots would be competitive because of their strong defense and excellent coaching staff.

I only began to doubt them when they led the NFL in COVID opt outs.   Belichick is a great coach.  But even a great coach can't win without good players and right now the Pats just don't have enough of them.

Some people are just conservative by nature.  They have trouble believing in change until it happens.  I'm a bit that way.  I'm not surprised the Bills are leading the AFCE at this point but I am surprised the Pats are in 3rd.  I was predicting Bills, Pats, Fins, Jets.  It's just hard to imagine - despite contrary predictive evidence - a Pats fall of this magnitude.

COVID has hit the Patriots harder than any team.  Sure the Titans got hit hard, but the schedule gods gave them breaks and rest.  NE lost quality defensive players to opt outs and free agency.  Their starting QB1 and CB1 were lost for games and have had their schedule totally f'd with.  And then on top of that, they are working with a revolving OLINE, a banged up and aging WR1 and a bust for their other WR picks.  And I could not be happier... 🙂  I still remember that Randy Moss/Tom Brady game in Buffalo!!!!  I shall never mourn for this team.  Never.  I believe we are watching the changing of the guard.

Is that on Daboll or Allen? I’d say good job by Daboll getting players open, bad job by Allen finding the open man.

The OLINE has been a bit porous these last few games..  I've seen DLINE running wild in the Bills backfield these last three games.

So Cam was benched does he stay benched?

I don't think so.  Unless he is harboring an injury we don't know about.  SF had the better scheme and players on Sunday.  I fully expect a spirited effort this week from the Patriots.  To quote Barry Switzer, yes that Barry Switzer when he was the coach of Oklahoma preparing to play Nebraska, "we will just have to out-athlete them".

  5. Anything, and I mean anything, that dismantles the Patriots, I'm all for.  Send him to TB or KC.  They seem to be able to sign anyone they want. 🙂

I grew up hating the Dolphins.  I want to go back to that for the next decade or so.

I’m curious to know why everyone here became a Bills fan and why....

For me, I knew of the Bills as the local football team but never really paid much attention.  Members of my family were Bills fans because they were local but they didn’t follow the team closely.   The first year I remember paying attention was in 1988 after the big win versus NYJ to capture the AFCE championship.   I also remember the home playoff game against Houston.

There was definitely a “buzz” around Buffalo around 1988.  It’s the first time I remember seeing a lot of Bills merchandise in stores at the mall - which would increase in subsequent years.  For some reason I didn’t follow as much during 1989, but as soon as the team went on a roll in 1990 I started following and never looked back.   I’ve watched almost every game since then.

After the 4 straight Super Bowl appearances, I remember thinking I wonder what it’s like to NOT finish a season going to the Super Bowl?  Sadly, I’d find out many times!!!!  But win or lose, I’ll probably always follow this franchise.  Just like a Josh Allen game, the good times more than outweigh the bad ones!

I tell people I was born into it.  You don’t pick being a Bills fan, it’s a birthmark. Comes right on your birth certificate.

  7. The call in the game that had me scratching my head was the 3rd and 2 late in the game.  A 1st down there and it's victory formation..  Allen in shotgun with Moss.  Fakes a handoff to Moss and then a delayed run by Allen into the Jet's Dline.  No gain.  FG kicked for an 18-10 lead.  Why lineup so deep if you intended a QB run?  Even a handoff to Moss would have succeeded as it "appeared" he was running free off tackle.

Can't remember too many games where a QB has 300 yards passing and no TDs.  I think they said on the telecast yesterday that this was the first NFL game won this year by a team not scoring a TD.

San Fran ran the ball all over Foxboro, for almost two hundred yards.  They attacked the edges of the pats D, so that NE was breaking out their 6-1 front from the Rams SB to try and hold contain.  Didn't work, but I don't think the Bills can threaten that like SF did.

Now if the plan is to go into Foxboro and throw the ball 40 times I'm worried.  Because that's when you'll see every wonky disguised coverage, fake look/trap and blitz BB can think of.

Yep.  Watching the game, SF through quick almost lateral passes to the wings.  That softened up the middle allowing them to do whatever they wanted.  Buffalo did a lot of that yesterday too with Beasley..

  9. If Belichick was the evil genius we all ascribe to him, he would lose both games to the Jets and pick Lawrence.  Need to write this year off.  Hopefully.  If he starts Stidham or Hoyer in Buffalo, we will know. Beating the Patriots in Buffalo just might jump start the Patriots tank.

After a loss like Tuesday night, it usually takes me a couple of days to go back on internet websites and sports outlets - anything Bills/NFL related because I get so bummed out.  How do you react?   Also, I wonder if any of the mods here have data on whether traffic dies off after a big loss or not.

First time I have even thought to look was now.  I know what I saw.  I know what I felt.  I know what I believe.  On to the next game.
