Tampa continues to be a retirement community. I have to think that eventually, that cap is going to catch up with them.
-
That's fair. They did manage to have a very strong finish as a team without Tre. My concern is more that they had an easier end to the season that could have disguised how bad the problem was. Carolina and three games against the Patriots (including the wind game) were not ones where the Bills faced word beaters in the passing attack. Now, Tom Brady and Pat Mahomes make a lot defenses look silly and I think you have a point about giving roster spots to people who would not be back in 2023. I think you are probably right about what the Bills do, but I am looking at a first half of the season that has games against the Super Bowl champs, the AFC South division winner, Tyreek Hill, and the two biggest MVP rivals that Josh has this year (Mahomes and Rodgers). The idea that Haden wouldn't be here long term doesn't bother me as much compared to the idea of a recovering White, rookie Elam and Dane Jackson (who we hope is a solid #2) If we want a high seed to really make a run, I find Haden a better investment to kick the tires on than Cody Ford.

OT: Belichick says that Mac's improvement is "dramatic"
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
"Dramatically?" "Well, I like to think that the way he complains to officials for calls is already Brady like. He could be a soccer star." -
Thanks for this. Obviously, I think we are very hopeful that this is an abnormally good case and that White is back to full speed come week 1. But I think we need to be prepared for the idea that he spends 4 weeks on the PUP list. It would also give some credence as to why some Bills players have been courting Joe Haden. Haden, in my mind, is a lot like the a Josh Norman or Vontae Davis: a vet whose best days are behind them but maybe want one last splash. I would feel a whole lot better with Dane Jackson as my CB4.

If you're right about Howard, and I am inclined to believe you, I like some of those mismatches. In my mind Diggs and Davis on the outside, Know against a linebacker, Howard to block, Cooks out of the backfield, and Josh's ability run to RPO or zone read plays offers a number of options to salivate over.

That WR room is pretty darn tight. If McKenzie isn't even being considered for a ST role, and they have Diggs, Davis, Crowder, Shakir...that puts him, best case 6th on the depth chart? It's not unbelievable that he's a goner.

I think this is the best way he is going to learn. The word on Elam is that he has incredibly athletic ability, but his technique is lacking. Diggs doesn't have elite athleticism, but his technique and route running is some of the best in the league. Hopefully this matchup A) Gives McDermott an idea of what Elam can do before he is thrown into the fire. B) Is going to show that technique work Elam needs to focus on most to try to get him ready for Week 1. I haven't lost hope that White is ready to go Week 1, but I think it's not unreasonable that he might need more time, and even if he does come back that he's a bit rusty. Let's get the plan going now to be ready for the Rams.

I know Scott was mostly joking, but I do want to make a note about the idea of running heavier sets. Remember the 1st Chief's game last season? The Bills came out and pounded the ball against a Chief's defense that was not prepared for it. Any time that you can make a team one dimensional, you can start to get them off their game, and that's what happened mid-season last year. I know that the game has moved to the pass, and I am no advocating for a 50-50 or even a 60-40 pass/run split, but you have to at least threaten it for play action to work, and play action can kick start an offense. Plus, if OJ Howard can at least be a capable blocker, that leaves Knox free in the middle of the field in 2 TE sets. I absolutely want to see more of that.

I think the kids call it "thicc" these days. -
Ryan Fitzpatrick calls it a career

He will always be beloved by Bills Mafia. But now he, Stevie and Fred Jackson are ready to be hired as our hype department! If we can put a shirtless Fitz in the stands in January, let's make this a thing! -
Nate Clements hit on Tom Brady

After decades of "Is this the QB of the future" and "Will the coaching carousel end" and "will the Bills be able to sign their draft picks before camp" I am ready for the high point of drama to be a punter battle.

If ESPN is too woke for you, you are probably in a coma. You probably avoid mayonnaise because it's too spicy.

Wow. I remember less than a decade ago that our Primetime game was always a Thursday Night Football game and it was always a terrible match up. Now we have five in a season, starting with very first. Perceptions have changed.

Interesting choice of timing, but I means I should be able to watch. I'm ready for some payback against the Titans. -
Just as a note, does anyone refute that access to multiple forms of birth control, education on how to use it, and making it free would decrease abortion? Because if no cost is too great to stop abortion, then what the hell are you complaining about? If it's personal responsibility, then let people make that choice. Because right now you're a bunch of triggered snowflakes shouting THINK OF THE BABIES and then doing jack once you get your way.

To me the big news is Tre White able to start week 1. If we have someone who maybe isn't the best tackler but has amazing speed and tracking as a #2 CB in zone coverage then I am over the moon -
*blinks* Ok, if you think that we like to throw Donahoe under the bus, we have nothing on what a lot of Eagles fans think of Howie Roseman. It's going to be hard to fault him on this one

Tyreek seeking a trade [Now: Traded to the Dolphins]
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to Dablitzkrieg's topic in The Stadium Wall
Maybe I should be worried but I'm not. Flores was no schmuck, and got a lot out of his teams. I don't buy the idea that McDaniel comes in and turns a struggling Tua into a star in one year. Do I think they might challenge the Pats for #2 and a wild card? Maybe. But not the division. -

Star released. Pre-6/1 per Joe B, $1.5M cap savings.

Fair enough. But getting more for cheaper makes it an easy call.
