  1. It's actually kinda funny, Sunday through Thursday it was nothing but doom and gloom in Philadelphia. There were a lot of calls of "We suck" and "Tear it all down!" and now they are predicting themselves to win! I honestly think that we match up well as the better team against them. Desean Jackson had been the only way they could stretch the field, and Alshon Jeffrey and Agholor have really disappointed, while the Eagles have yet to really keep a strong running attack. Against a strong secondary, and without the receivers to really spread the field and YAC us to death like the Dolphins tried, I think our secondary can keep them contained. Meanwhile, their secondary has been pretty darn bad. Swartz does not like to blitz, in general, but his corners have been torched. They had little in the cabinet before they let Scandrick go, and I think that Brown. Beasley and Knox line up very, very line against their starters. Even more if Foster gets in the gameplan. I just seem the Bills moving the ball quickly, if in spurts like we've seen this year. For me, biggest risk is if Josh gives up a ton of bad turnovers...and the Eagles don't, while they consistently have.
  2. I use a similar one: An ugly win is prettier than the best moral victory. I've lived through too many "moral victories" in the 2000s to believe in those anymore.
  3. Ahh, the old "they can't see us if our uniforms make their eyes bleed" gambit
  4. Well, there's an easy way to tell. Throw it away. If it's a Peter-burger, it will be intercepted
  5. Maybe. Was the impossible burger invented at Harvard?
  6. Just dont bother with a Wagyu burger. That makes that beef special is the high fat content and you can just get that from grinding in fat cap so you are massively overpaying for something ordinary. Or, as I like to call it the Brock Osweiler.
  7. I am also going to come in for my big heaping helping of crow as someone who was upset at us taking "the wrong Josh"
  8. I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but I crunches the numbers on Allen's YPG, which so far includes two very, very stringent passing defenses and does not include the upcoming two matchups vs the Dolphins. Right now, Allen is averaging 224.5 yards per game. Now, forecast that over the rest of the season (never mind the poor defenses we are looking to play) and that forecasts over 3500 yards. Holy schnikes, I would have cut off a leg in previous seasons to have a QB throw for that many. I remember the calls for the Bills to trade for Cutler or Bradford to get numbers like that. Just to keep things in perspective.
  9. I might get roasted for this, but I think that the Bills should bring on a few scrub players to be DE's the next time they play the Patriots and have them go helmet to helmet on Brady and drive him into the turf but "roll the shoulder". If the cost for giving Tom Brady a concussion is just 15 yards, hell, I'll take that any day of the week. I would set up a Go Fund Me to pay for any fines incurred. Yes, it's scummy, but at this point, with the relationship with the Pats and Bills, player safety calls have been SO lopsided it's time to send a message. Like I mentioned before, a few years ago Hughes got hit with a personal foul for slapping his teammates helmet to celebrate. Last year, Gronk delivered that cheap shot and got barely anything. This year, the gave our QB a concussion. Even if it was just poor form, the Pats saw fewer consequences for spearing a QB than a player congratulating a teammate after the play was over. When it's that bad, lean into the skid.
  10. It was a winnable game and we lost it with a combination of rough officiating against us at crucial times and some really poor play calling.
  11. It means that Allen has played so few games for the team that he is still eligible for the team's practice squad. That's how few reps under fire he's had, and he's already improved this much.
  12. I have a strong gut feeling that Kroft is gone in 2020. The question is more whether Beane can get a pick for him, because it's still a reasonable contract for a vet. but Knox and Sweeney look like the future.
  13. But I really think that makes him the right person to deliver the message. Brady has a long history on whining for a call the moment that things don't go his way. His O-line gets banged up, and suddenly Brady is the one complaining about the refs not "lettin' 'em play". Meanwhile, Hughes has a long history of actually being f'd over by the refs. Does anyone else remember the personal foul for slapping his own teammate on the helmet in a celebration for getting a stop? If there is anyone better qualified to point out the double standard, it's him. Besides, weren't there people here talking about how Belicheck plays 4D chess like a genius by having Brady tweet that? How are we getting upset that the Bills finally start seeing the board?
  14. Wasn't the story going into training camp "how long will it take for the pieces on the O-line to gel?" Morse was out the whole camp At this point? Agreed. Tennessee and the Eagles are looking way less intimidating as expected. The Redskins look as bad as expected. Miami is looking like a division II college team. Even if you prematurely chalk up the Pat's game as a loss (which you shouldn't) there is no reason why it's crazy that Bill's aren't 7-1 or 6-2. At the half way point. Yes, it's harder after that, but that is a nice number of wins banked.
  15. Just bench him. Singletary needs to be healthy for the rest of the year. Gore and Yeldon can hold down the fort for one game. If Singletary is really day to day, make sure that he doesn't take a shot too early which takes him out for a month or longer.
  16. I don't blame him for deciding that he was done. Learning about some of the painkillers he had started, and the realization that he just couldn't hack it is understandable as to his decision to retire without waiting until the end of the season. He should have waited until the end of the game. At the very, very least, he should have told his coaches what he was thinking instead of just leaving, and finding out that he didn't even offer that courtesy really bothers me. I will forever consider that a classless move, but I could have forgiven it. But then, he went on and did a fantasy football ad that season, joking about it. That is unforgivable, especially with the article going on about how financially secure he is. He didn't need the money, he did it because it was easy and one last way to cash in on his reputation in the public eye.
  17. My username started off with a joke about how if the NFL was Game of Thrones, the Bills would be the Whitewalkers. I could stand some armies of the dead level raiding against pretty boy Tommy Lanny and his golden hand
  18. This was a delight to read, and it sounds like the mentality the Bills should embrace.
  19. Yeah, this is looking extremely likely now. I wouldn't have been surprised if Darnold was still the one throwing the ball, but pretty much any team that wasn't a juggernaut beforehand looks dire when you move into the third string QB. Like @eball said, I would not at all be surprised if the first Jets/Dolphins game is 0-7 for both sides going in.
  20. Rosen was honestly my choice over Allen for the pick at 7. Since then, I can happily admit that I was wrong about Allen, and I'm even starting to drink the Kool-Aid about him being a franchise QB. That said, a lot of the complaints that I heard about Rosen seemed unfair. That his Judaism was going to get in the way in a heavily Christian locker room. That his family being well off meant that he didn't "need football" and would be less driven to succeed. To me, it's now more telling that the Phins won't replace Fitz for him, but it's hard to deny that the Dolphins look incredibly dysfunctional right now. They are very clearly and purposefully shedding talent for the future, and while they aren't alone, they are doing it hardcore and looking dreadful in the process. Now, every player with the talent to be valuable elsewhere is desperately looking to leave. I doubt that Aaron Rodgers or Mahomes would look halfway decent in that situation.
  21. It's way, way, way too early to make a decision on that yet. However, it's really telling that certainly media personalities have narratives they are sticking too. Mike Tanier at Bleache Report (I know, I know), had a comment along the lines of "Allen can provide one rushing and one passing TD highlight per game, and then miss his receivers by 10 yards for the rest of the game". In their mind, Allen is "inaccurate", despite the fact that he within half a percentage point of Carson Wentz and has a higher completion % than Goff, Aaron Rodgers, Mayfield, Winston, Mayfield, Trubinsky and their new favorite "baller" Kyler Murray. And yet not a peep. If Allen was putting up numbers like what Mayfield has so far, we would be hearing about what a phenomenal bust and waste of a pick he was.
  22. No, I was thinking of the Poyer. While I am not a Greggo, headhunting advocate, I like that other teams have on film that if their QB has to throw late and behind, that their receivers are going to get hit hard in the middle of the field. Poyer wasn't going for a helmet to helmet, and it looked as if he was going for a clean, if hard hit. I would rather that he decks a guy aiming for a clean hit than he whiffs and the guy brushes it off and waltzes into the end zone.
  23. Wow. My buddy who is a Ravens fan is going to be thrilled. But in regards to us, it's early, but looking around, we have a nice start on the wild card race as a backup if we can't take the division from the Pats.
  24. Of course, the flip side to the youthful inexperience is that I can easily pull out the names of half a dozen impact starters or key contributors in years 1-3 on their contracts (Allen, Singletary, Dawkins, Oliver, Milano, Edmunds, White, Wallace, Neal) and the fact that we still have $25 million in cap space also speaks very well for the potential longevity of the team as a contender as well! Dang, optimism is fun.
