  1. On a more serious note, the only reason I can conceive that Rasul Douglass has not been starting is familiarity. I know PFF is not the end all be all, but his track record has been better than Dane Jacksons, never mind the the splash plays from last night.
  2. Unless you all expect three players to clear concussion protocol in a week, I think you better warm to the idea of Douglas as a starter.
  3. Not to get too far ahead, but the Eagles are legit good. I was ready to call them a hype machine last year and while I am not a huge Hurts fan, they have an elite stable of WRs, run the ball enough to be effective, and they are great at short down conversion.
  4. It's ok, it's the part of Camden that is riiiiiight before it touches one of the wealthier districts. Actually right by one the best rated sushi joints in Philly.
  5. I am not going to blame anyone for holding off on the Joe Brady parade until he can show it for a stretch. I am not going to slam anyone for skepticism when my own is running quite high. Now, if we keep this up vs Philly, KC, Dallas, then I will gripe like to the peak condition being a Bills fan has trained me to.
  6. I work in Camden now, so I'm already there. It's either that or I go to the aquarium for my kid and decide to get lunch.
  7. How Brady does in the next 6 games is the real question for me. The defense has had some key breakdowns, but a lot of that was after keeping the offense afloat for an unsustainable amount of time. If the Bills get into the playoffs and show life, I am curious to see what Joe Brady can do with a full offseason. If the Bills flame out, offense looks awful, then it's an easy reset and a 2024 of burning every bad FA contract to start fresh in '25. To me the real question is this: what happens if the team looks much improved, wins games (plural) against Philly/KC/Dallas but misses the playoffs due to a bad loss and tiebreakers. Does the potential turnaround warrant one more year after four years of results we were thrilled about?
  8. I think this is a must do. The Bills are in a cap crunch next year. Unless the plan is to burn it all down, I think it should be very reasonable to extend him a few years. His Packers deal was $7 M a year, and heavily frontloaded. Beane can easily knock the $9M for 2024 down with a signing bonus and set it to match the rising salary cap for another few years.
  9. It looks like some of the gameplan was to target short passes to harp on the Jets defense deficiency at the LB level. Diggs also didn't have a great game. But overall I agree. I think we have seen the top end of Gabe Davis, and he is clearly not built for the #2 role. Can Shakir surpass him once he's the focus? Who knows, but he's playing with a spark that Gabe isn't and will 99% guarantee that Davis will not be back next season. GMs get silly with #2 WR money, and I am convinced someone will flash a price tag that we would be fools to match. So, let's see what the hot guy can do.
  10. Exactly what I think. As much as we are collectively dancing on Dorsey's grave today, he did have stretches of greatness. The issue is, as you pointed out, what happens when DC's take away what has been working and you need a second punch. That said, there are reasons for optimism 1) that 3-4 "easy" games could not come at a better time, right when we need it. 2) the folks at Cover 1 pointed out something useful: that the Jets defense had done an excellent job shutting down receivers on the outside this season, but their weakness had been giving up passes to RBs. Not only was the James Cook TD using motion to identify the defense and running play action from under center (two things we've been screaming for) it attacked a defense deficiency and I do not remember the last time we did that. The result speaks for itself: a wide open, easy throw and catch, red zone TD.
  11. That is what the locals eat. I would get good wings in Philly buuuuuut then I would have to find them you say that, but it's freaking delicious
  12. Best cheese steak is in New Jersey. Break all the rules: put it on a Kaiser. Chop ribeye ends. American cheese. Load with caramelized onions.
  13. We are a bit hard on Beane for his missed, but Kincaid looks like an absolute steal now that we are using him. The lack of use in the 1st third of the season was criminal
  14. I will reserve judgement. The Bills have a massive test coming up. The way I see it, the Bills need to take at minimum 1 game (preferably 2) out of the upcoming vs the Eagles, Chiefs, Cowboys to have any chance of making the playoffs. Those are two of the best teams in the league and one good team. Dorsey always started strong and could never find a second punch. But dang was it nice to see Cook, Shakir and Kincaid see the kind of use that fans have been clambering that they could. If you keep scheming them open, Diggs will start getting single matchups again.
  15. I will find a way to be miserable darn it!
  16. This is not a glowing review of support for McDermott, but Dorsey definitely was not working. During the offseason people on here were bubbling with the acquisition of Dalton Kincaid. Of particular note was going to be how the Bills could dictate coverage and manufacture mismatches by starting in a base 12, but could then put Kincaid into motion as effective 11 personnel, or could overload coverage as run plays. I saw none of that. I saw too much running QB draws out of shotgun that worked one time. Allen is going to need to be coached back up. I don't know if it's easy, but Dorsey was not doing it. He had no second punch.
  17. Badly needed IMHO. I don't know if Brady is any better but something has to change
  18. I was going to do this last night after the game, but the site crashed from our collective misery. So, while it's still mostly fresh in my head, he's the overwhelming reaction: I consider myself an optimist when it comes to the Bills: I weathered the drought, and I remember going through every permutation in which they might get into the playoffs. I generally had high hopes for this year, and there are definitely bright spots still. I am not a "style points" guy who thinks that we need to be winning by 20 point margins every week. But something is perfectly clear: this team isn't Super Bowl caliber. Yes, I know that any team go on fire at the right time, but at this point the hurtles are too many, and actually making the playoffs looks chancy. This team has gone backwards. The saying goes that success has many fathers while failure is an orphan, but there isn't one point of failure. It's in multiple spots. There isn't a quick plug and play fix where slotting in one more guy is going to dramatically change the teams fortunes. It needs to be gutted. Our roster is old and expensive, and it's time to get younger and cheaper. All of that spells a rough 2024. ____ I wanted Ken Dorsey to step into the OC job when Daboll left. It made sense, the man who knew Josh Allen best in the building and who had been groomed for the job. It ain't working. It feels like the man is oversmarting himself at every turn. Yes, I know fans accused Daboll of that, but it has taken him a criminally long time to utilize some of the talents he has. I don't even mind the Allen turnovers so much as he very clearly is forcing it. Something is wrong with the coaching and scheme. I am not saying we roll out Chip Kelly. I have been skeptical of the "hire the guy who shook the hand of Sean McVeigh" approach. But Josh is best when he is gaming, and I feel there has to be something to utilize motion in a way we are not doing and setting things up for Allen to play off script. I doubt something happens midseason, but SOMETHING has to change. - We should not bid on Gabe Davis. That is all. I would have been against it to begin with, but that tip drill reminded me of his limitations. Shakir can be a #4 receiver, Davis can't be a #2. Someone will wildly overbid for him and good luck to them. It shouldn't be us. - I am giving James Cook a pass. I am sorry, but at least he had heart. He came to play when it looked like others are sleepwalking. - I would like to apologize to Leslie Frazier. It seems McDermott can't stop end of game drives either. And seriously, how many times are we going to get burned by "shovel pass to the RB while the QB is being tackled"
  19. No. This was the easy part of the schedule and we are 5-5. Are you going to tell me that the Bills are going to go out and win five out of: NY Jets (who haven't died and Allen has historically struggled against) @Phildelphia (9-1) @KC (8-2) Dallas Chargers Pats @Miami with Miami having something to play for And even if we manage to squeak in with 9 wins, this team isn't going on a run. Burn it down.
  20. Agreed. Those three players are my bright spots. I'm currently on a "burn it all down" mood for everything else.
  21. I'm just furious because of the sheer number of times the Bills get calls like that overturned
  22. Sweet Jesus, did someone smear Vaseline on our WRs gloves?
