I expect he'll get a call up unless some team snatched him

"Oh no, I collect a full base salary, get a full year of offseason conditioning and working with coaches to have a better shot next year!, where I can make even more money if I just hold even." It's not a bad deal for a rookie.

Did you get the Sunday Ticket this year?
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall
Now it's like $700 so hell no. Even if it was the same price as last year it wasn't worth it. If it was every game? Maybe $400 would be worth it. I'd watch more. But with Primetime games and exclusive streaming games and local broadcast blackouts? I'd maybe get half of them. I'm also expecting a newborn imminently so NFL rewind is looking like a far more likely option. -
This Andrewwson kid is good!!

That's the biggest difference: this wasn't playing 2s and 3s in garage time. I know it's due to injury that he started but Joe made the most of his time. This was against starters and whatever McDermott and Babich saw in practice made him first among equals on depth players -

I know, as fans on the board, tend to overhype preseason wonders. We see an undiscovered underdog and we jump to support them, even if the talent doesn't match up. But, in this case, I really don't see the harm in rostering the guy. Milano will start the season on PUP or IR. Last year, the team rostered 6 LBs (Milano, Bernard, Dorian Williams, Dodson, Spector Manaketitch) Dodson and Manny are gone. Right now our depth chart is Bernard, Williams, Spector, Nicolas Morrow (who Eagles fans are cheering the departure of) and then... Edefuan Ulofoshio (5th round rookie, likely practice squad fit)? Shayne Simon? Deion Jones? You're telling me that even if one spot is held for a guaranteed special teams players that Andreessen can't beat one of those guys for spot #6? UPDATE: And he's a special teams player! When was the last time we saw Manakevitch come off the bench and tackle like that? At this point I'll be shocked if he's not on the roster -
Bills @ Steelers - Preseason Game 2 - Sat 8/17 7PM

Sorry I was at family dinner and I have the game recording. I kind of turned out when Josh wasn't playing. But considering that Milano's return date is "indeterminate" he's almost sure to be on PUP to start the season if not IR. I know it's one preseason game but Bernard and Dorian Williams have looked solid so far and having a young guy on the team working up? There are worse things to find. -

Massare posted something about Andresson at LB. Is there something noteworthy? -

I mean it's hard to fault the logic when they have another one next week but it's disappointing as hell to miss watching the gear up -

Is there a reason why Josh isn't playing? -
We could have made that work.

Claypool - The Dream is Over...
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to ScottishBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's a shame because I think he is legitimately talented, but his list of screwups meant that he was going to need a near perfect camp to get through to the roster. With Coleman effectively doing what we'd hope Claypool would be ahead of schedule, Shakir and Samuel set in stone, Hollins and MVS seemingly having an inside track and Shavers getting rave reviews it was looking like long odds. -
I agree that with McDermott's track record rookie defenders really have to earn their spot. The thing is, drafting guys and forcing them to beat out journeymen/putting them in the role has kind of been working. Milano started behind Humber, Epenesa was rotated in, Bernard had to earn his spot and so has Elam. Some have washed out, but they were never forced to be the sole point of failure

I will say that after being pretty doom and Gloom about our receiving prospects in April and May I am pleasantly surprised to be having discussions of how deep we are. Chase Claypool had what, two 800+ yard seasons and right now he's on the outside looking in with a rookie who looks like he can do what Claypool does better.

I would not be shocked if it's 7 WR. 6 is more likely, but Brady has been preaching position less football. If it comes down to Hamler and Shavers I think they try to sneak Shavers onto the practice squad

It's getting extremely difficult for me to not hype Coleman. My pre-training camp standard was cleaning up enough to be used situationally in the red zone and gradually spool out for a greater role but he has been consistent in holding his own vs the teams best outside corners. I think Kincaid starts as the primary downfield threat but if Coleman keeps it up it might be forcing teams to pick their poison.

They are pretty close to. Before this they were 44 million over the cap and Hill was one of the few players they could release. I assume this brings them down and if they leverage the Waddle and Tue to maximum they can probably squeak under but only just. They brought on a bunch of FA defenders this year and one year into a contract does not give you a lot. They are likely going to break even and have the draft so they really are putting all their eggs in few baskets Beane took some bitter medicine this offseason but the result is that they look the be under the cap with a few very easy moves to make space: Allen restructure or new contract, likely a Von Miller cut and if our 2024 rookies work out DaQuan, Edwards and Rapp are expendable.

I know I'm a broken record on this, but my growing hype on Coleman is not the circus catches and physicality. We knew he had that. It's that he's refined his route running and that can be used with the other two to get that extra bit of separation. And once the ball is in his hands he has the field vision of a kick returner and is a physical runner. Look out. I mean not quite. I don't think anyone will have that level of play calling at the line. But what I see is personnel that has enough crossover that you could put Samuel in the backfield with Cook and run 12. Or bring Coleman into the slot to act as TE in to run 21 or 22. And even then staying at 11 personnel they are heavy enough with condensed formations to run efficiently. Brady can really pull out tools vs an opponents weaknesses

This has been what I've been envisioning as our base this off-season. It can attack teams so many ways. I've wanted to give him some more lead last year. Now, the Bills had some great depth in front of him but it's heartening to see the leap. I don't have any hard numbers, but seriously guys, what's our odds that we go a full season without Douglas or Benford missing a game?
