Bills training camp practice 8/11

Look, I'm hardly Cassel's biggest fan but he has bounced back these last two practices. -

I hope that holds. LT had a big resurgence after after a down year in SD. -

Oh god, all those quotes got me thinking about the opening of the show Castle : "Cassel!Cassel! Cassel! Cassel! I really am ruggedly handsome!" -

It's strange how one good day from Cassel wipes out four straight dreadful practices and one bad practice from EJ wipes out three straight good ones. Again, I'm going to say it: Tyrod has been the one with the fewest bad days. I want EJ to win, but let's not pretend that Cassel has been consistently good. -
46 Defense Implemented?
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to OCinBuffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know it's still unofficial, and we're going to be going through a lot of looks but it seems the unofficial depth chart has us looking like a 4-3 setup. They also switched SLB and WLB so take it with a grain of salt. But I'm excited to see what they come up with! -

Well, Cassel might be looking to have a better day than anyone has up until now. Now what do I do with this torch and pitchfork? Seriously though he legit looks good. -

It's especially funny seeing Miami fans of all people defending their secondary. -

But...but...Cassel is starting the first preseason game! -
Matt Flynn signs with Pats*, update - Cut
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What this tells is less about Flynn and more about what the Pats think of the Brady appeal. No way a team takes the risk of just Jimmy G behind center -
Matt Cassel to start Panthers Preseason game 1

Really? I had gotten the impression that he was badly regressing at that in the last few practices. -
Matt Cassel to start Panthers Preseason game 1

Guys, I have a crazy theory: Rex and Roman, after saying that the QB competition would be open, gave the first live hitting time under center to EJ. The first preseason game to Cassel. Shockingly he might give the second to Tyrod. Shocking! FWIW of the staff is favoring Cassel, they must be seeing something we arent. It's nice that he's going through progressions, but of he's inaccurate on short to intermediate routes and can't throw anything deep I don't see how that helps you. Not doing full progressions is a weakness, but you can counter it with bunch formations and half field reads like Roman did for Kaep and Marrone did (briefly) for EJ before scorching the wholeague idea. Eagles trade CB Brandon Boykin to Steelers
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, next man up in the Philly secondary: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000508089/article/eagles-cb-jacorey-shepherd-suffers-right-knee-injury But it was Chip's pick so it must be brilliant, right? -
Blue & White Scrimmage 8/8 6pm
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Right and Eli Manning, Joe Flacco, Colin Kaepernick and Russell Wilson are all consistent top 5 QBS who throw for 3500-4000 yards each year. No, wait. Eli and Joe are streaky as hell. Kaep and Wilson have decent mobility and the ability to extend plays. All of whom (all together now) *chant* used a strong run game and solid defense to get through December and January to the Superbowl. I know we need to upgrade at QB or get dramatically better play from one we have to be a powerhouse contender, but no rookie or guy we can trade for or pick up in free agency will be able to do jack squat without what we're building this year. -

No, because the rest of the team was still a godawful trainwreck. In the postseason, which is littered with injuries and bad weather, QB play is mitigated by strong D and a run game. We have those. -
Incognito Not a Fan of Goodell and Wells

Yeah...a lot of people don't like that Goodell has ultimate authority. Hell I don't. Doesn't mean Brady isn't guilty. -

Well, all I'll say is this: at the very least, on the wake of the scrimmage which was supposed to be important in picking a starter, can we admit that Cassel has sucked. Seriously sucked. I don't know if EJ or Tyrod are great but they sound leaps and bounds better than Cassel. -

Does anyone know why Tyrod was "dissapointing"? He got the team in position to score and his numbers looked ok. Either way I'm happy to see EJ step up when the moment waa big. -
Bills training camp practice 8/7
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Look, I've been a staunch EJ supporter. I think he might win it out. But at this point, going off of the reports of many of our own visitors, and Rex's comments and what all the biggest local beat writers have written (Fairburn, Sal and Joe) Tyrod has looked very good overall and has looked good the last three days. He's young, under contract after this year and has an upside as a mobile QB. If he is our best qb I will not be sad. But EJ also seems to be improving and coming along. At this point, just not Cassel. He's not even accurate at short range never mind medium or long and he has no mobility and he's not under contract so if he wins we likely sign another Fitz like contract. No thanks. -

That's not really a fair bet. If Cassel is the starter, given how bad he has looked, everybody you've made the bet with will have jumped off a bridge.
