Fitz calls his shot -Update Signed w/Jets
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know how they afford Fitz even at a cap hit of $12 M. Even of they balance some of that with a signing bonus, I don't see it less than $8 M and they have $3.1 now. With the guaranteed money they have, they either restructure Wilkerson to almost no salary this year and just a signing bonus or you cut your starting center, RT or Decker. -
Wow, the media got but hurt on this extraordinarly fast. Look, I get it from the team's perspective. We've just hit OTA's and everything since has been screaming about how they've overpaid Glenn, how how they are doomed because Sammy might miss some preseason, and they aren't respecting Taylor, and Whaley and the entire medical staff should be fired because Shaq will miss 5 games with a veteran backup in position. So the new rules are the "this is why we can't nice things" response and the live tweeters are throwing a hissy fit.

Browns release Brian Hartline
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've heard of him. But seriously, I remember him having some decent years. I would take a look -
Well, the good news is this: I checked out recovery times for the surgery: according to John's Hopkins orthopedics, even the more conservative estimates for a labrum recovery is 12 weeks. That would put Lawson back around the start of pre season. Maybe he doesn't start week 1, but we have Manny to fill the gap in the meanwhile.

You are a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. As usual. I will be keeping Emoulds previous success in mind, and also not forget that Leroi was the hot inside scoop for a while. Lawson has gone on record that he's been playing through his injury since freshman year. Whaley said the Bills were aware of the issue and med staff cleared it. I don't see them taking Shaq in the 1st if they thought it was a serious issue.

I agree with continuity. I can't remember the last time the entire group of starters was back on the O-line. I'm not expecting magic. But we did start to see progress near the end of last year. I know from family experience that Crohns can kick your ass when not treated, and then cab have no effect when it is.

5-13: Tyrod Taylor on Buffalo Radio
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Any highlights for those who can't listen? -
According to HC Doug Piederson, when both Bradford and Daniel were signed they were told that they would be drafting a guy for the future. The difference being, at the time the Eagles were picking at 13. No one had any way of knowing that they could trade Kiko and Maxwell for 8, and then that they could move to 2. An expected "oh, they'll pick up someone in rounds 2-4. I can beat him oUT easy" became an expected franchise player
-
Philly has stated repeatedly that Bradford is the starter this season. They have no intention of rushing Wentz onto the field, and without a 1st round pick next year they have little reason to not try to win the division. Aaron Rodgers is arguably the best QB I'm the league right now, and he sat for 2 years behind Farve.

Salary Cap Thread (post-Cordy's Glenn extension)
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes. And his hit of $3.4M this year won't be there next year. -
Salary Cap Thread (post-Cordy's Glenn extension)
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've had that thought too, especially if we can get the Gilmore deal done. I posted in another thread that I'm not worried about tagging Taylor if necessary. We roll over 13.5M in dead money next year. Shaq makes Manny a backup and EJ is out the door so we save 6m there. Tack on the 3 M from Tyrod's deal and you're at $21.5 million. That should be enough, or close to it. -
Cordy's Glenn extended
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to Smiley Dear's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For people clamoring to sign Tyrod now, relax. There's plenty of space to use the franchise tag if necessary next year not even counting the $6.5M saved with Glenn. They have $13.5M dead cap rolling over. And then you have the salaries of players who are backups in the last year's of their deals and are unlikely to get signed back, such as Manny Lawson and EJ, who come to about $6m. And then there is the $3 M that is Tyrod's contract this year. We're at $21.5 M without cuts or restructure (though I think Gilmore might help if they sign) from just that. We will have no problem using the tag. -
Bills' Rookie Minicamp Starts on Friday

There needs to be a word for "I laughed at first, but as I thought about it, it's kind of horriying" I'm sure the Germans have it. -

I laughed pretty hard, and then I felt sad for Cardale. But seriously, though there are certainly knocks on Rex as a coach, one thing that can't be ignored is that he knows how to fire up players. The people who play for him will run through walls for him. -
Jets Tried To trade For Tunsil
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can see why. They have a lot of cash tied up in tackles right now, and I can see trying to groom a rookie replacement. From what I hear. Miami's problem last year wasn't it's OTs. Of course, like we've been over a million times regarding Glenn, slotting a great tackle in the guard spot does not equal great success: Great tackles have to rely on long arms and side movement to edge rushers. Guards have to worry about interior penetration. I think Miami saw value they couldn't ignore and didn't think about how to slot him in. -
Vietnamese fish sauce wings
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to Dragonborn10's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Yeah, you really need to go light on fish sauce. It's one of those things like Worcestershire sauce and parmesan and anchovy where a little bit mixed in with other stuff really amps up the flavor, but too much makes stuff inedible. -

Are you kidding? Look, I love the classic Franks wings. They are my favorite. But I really like Thai seasonings. I want to try these now. What I want to see is the skin and corn starch coating on Korean style double fry wings with butter and Franks. But I have lived in the heretic lands too long.
