  1. He also tends to undervalue quality writing and journalism standards but hey, what are you going to do.
  2. Ehh. I've heard good things about this defensive draft, and we've seen Leo really slow down last year and Darby has taken over the #2 corner role. Bye Leo.
  3. Does anyone know the numbers yet? I figured that we'd likely save between 1-2 M.
  4. I don't see this. Their starting QB, entire backfield and two or three of their defensive starters are free agents. They just lost a starting CB in Cro. Their QB situation could be dire. Fitz put up Bradford numbers last year. Average quarterbacking got Cousins and Bradford 18 and 20 million a year. Even with the Eagles shifting most of the hit to next year, Bradford is still going to hit at 12 million. The Jets have 7 before rookies. Unless they want to try their luck again at the free agent marketplace, and the likes of Hoyer their options are to try drafting a QB at 20, or going back to Geno. So yeah, an overrated team, who we beat twice BTW, is likely to lose a good chunk of their veterans, have a tougher schedule and you think they're going to be bettet?
  5. I think people are forgetting how screwed we got on scheduling and untimely injuries: A London game where we had to rely on EJ, our post bye opponent getting a mini-bye to mitigate the advantage, a three straight week road trip, our mini-bye coming up on the Patriots and then a short week road game in one of the loudest stadiums. And that's not counting our starting QB, RB and WR all missing multiple games, Kyle and Aaron Williams out for much of the season, Woods playing hurt the whole season. And then there's that we didn't know who our starting QB was going to be. We are quite realistically looking at only 2 starters leaving in free agency, one of whom we desperately needed to upgrade anyway (Bradham). We are looking at one of the deepest defensive drafts in recent memory. We've identified our starting QB and have continuity on our offense for the first time in years. The Jets have a free agent starting QB. With the current market, Fitz is likely to command at least $15 M, which the Jets can't afford unless they make serious veteran cuts. The Dolphins are a hot mess who have an even worse cap situation and severe holes to fix. If I can't be optimistic in March, when will I ever?
  6. It's a good thing Sam Bradford doesn't have much of an injury history.
  7. I think that, after last year, and Brady trying his "revenge tour", and all the problems and questions that came with enforcing those PSI rules if Goddell could get his power back without kicking up a storm, he would.
  8. I think it's about more than trying to get Brady suspended. Berman pretty much said "Hey, you know that binding arbitration you negotiated for? And the ability to act as a disciplinarian? You don't have that, thanks 'k bye." As it stands, it seriously limits the league's power, and is going to be the rallying cry for every player who ever gets suspended. So of course they are going to try.
  9. I am hearing that this is one of the deepest D line draft years. It would be nice to get a few replacements lined up.
  10. Except his system has been more of a 4-3 under with the Ravens and Jets. I can see Dareus as a Ngnata like 1 tech NT, and Kyle as the 3 tech. I can see Hughes as Suggs like player, but we really need a cover LB and 5 technique tackle.
  11. I'm also intrigued at the admission that Rex wants to do more of a 3-4, because it makes me look at who we have. Maybe a 3-4 under front? I still think that even with Dareus shading as a 1 technique NT, we'd at least need a 5 technique player. I'm also happy to hear about Henderson. Crohns can make it tough to keep body mass, but it can be treated with the right meds sometimes.
  12. Yeah. The replay shows McCoy getting at least one in.
  13. I know some people will tell you otherwise, but I've been at ground zero on the other side of that trade. People in Philly hate McCoy right now, but man, they hate Kiko even more.
  14. I am honestly feeling bad for the Browns. With us, you see some measured hope before things come plummeting back to Earth. Let's go at their last two years: The have two picks in the first round, in one of the most heavy and deep QB classes of recent memory. They have a new, defensive minded coach They trade back with the Bills to pick at 9 and get a 1st round pick next year. The Bills take Sammy Watkins. The Browns take Justin Gilbert and Johnny Manziel. Gilbert busts out horribly, Manziel becomes the stuff TMZ is made of. Josh Gordon gets suspended and is still not back in the league. They start Brian Hoyer. Hoyer leaves. Hoyer goes to the Texans. The Texans go to the playoffs. I've heard the term "factory of sadness" used. I don't know if it's wrong.
  15. I'd give Boldin a sniff.
  16. I'll say this: the NFC East was a close competitor with the AFC South for Worst Division in Football. They got to pad their schedule again against the NFC South which, outside of Carolina, was pretty bad. Cousins had a good year. I won't deny that. But he did it against teams worse than ours, and with more starting experience than Tyrod had, where they had a full offseason to build around his strengths and weaknesses.
  17. I was reading a BR article (yes, I know) and a scout went on record about how this year is looking like the worst overall offensive draft in four or five years. I was hard on the Sammy pick, but Whaley (apart from the O line) has looked pretty smart on his drafts.
  18. I think all guarantees were hit this season and I think we are free and clear.
  19. I don't think this year. There's already a big hole with Mario leaving. I'd rather see them draft a replacement in the mid rounds this year (Whaley seems to think it's a deep draft there) and give him a year. Agreed. We are in far better shape than Miami.
  20. Nice rundown. I'd even be ok with a little more for Incognito. I think Spotrac is looking at something like $5 million a year, and I'd rather see the Bills front load any guarantees.
  21. You know, now that the contract details are out, I can't fault the Eagles FO too much. It's a lot of money, but most of the cap hit is next year, and he has very little guaranteed after this year. The word from Whaley is that none if the QBs look like day 1 starters, and that they need at least a year on the bench. If the Eagles see a guy they like but needs a year, they don't need to worry about throwing him into the fire like we did EJ.
  22. That's like saying "I leased a classic cadillac, and it ran ****ty for 6 months, and then I had to leave it in the shop for a month, but it's run fine these last two weeks. I better make this a rent to own, because how often do you see one of these on the open market?". Bradford might run ok for a while, but his statistical best season, honestly his best season ever, in terms of yards, completion percentage and yards per attempt was last year. He was pretty close to his touchdown total. And this was in the "Chip Kelly, QB friendly, let's have eyepopping QB stats" system. He was 7-7, threw for 19 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. I hate to see what happens when he breaks down.
  23. They're already looking at shelling out $18 million for Sam Bradford. So who knows.
