Andy Benoit on Bills and draft
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
OK, I can definitely agree with that. You can never have too many quality DBs on the roster. How many cornerbacks do you need to cover the Patriots? Three. One to cover the receiver Brady is throwing to, one to nudge the one he's not at the 5.1 yard mark for a holding call, and one to draw a Personal Foul by giving the first guy a high five. -
Andy Benoit on Bills and draft
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is it? I mean, I know we need bodies and depth, but Darby was pretty darn good in 2015 when not dumped on an island. And I haven't given up on Seymour. In the deepest DB draft maybe ever I'm a little confused at what Benoit is coming out with. -
Andy Benoit on Bills and draft

The failed drug test is a red flag, for one. I had to laugh at that. That sounds like a horrible idea. I do think he's undervaluing Lawson. Hughes is likely going to be the big sack generator, but there is immense value to being able to seal off the run, especially when you have Dareus and Kyle as interior penetrators. -
NFL networks final mock draft
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to Buffaloed in Pa's topic in College Football
I do take a lot of what he says with a grain of salt (there have been some things which haven't come to pass) but he was right on about McDermott and has made a number of leaks in advance that turned out to be true. -
NFL networks final mock draft
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to Buffaloed in Pa's topic in College Football
Ugh, I like Reddick, but not at ten. Yes, I know it's a silly argument at times. If he's an All-Pro, no one will quibble about 10 or 20th pick. But at 10 there's going to be some serious flashy names up there. I have to think that someone jumps to try to beat Cleveland to a QB, or really likes a player. -
NFL networks final mock draft
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to Buffaloed in Pa's topic in College Football
Could you kindly link to that and the confirmation. I mean, smokescreen season and everything, but I would like to hear. I would prefer Williams to Davis, but I've heard that a lot of scouts think Davis is better. I like the idea of Davis or Howard. If Solomon Thomas by some miracle drops to 10 I don't see how you don't take him. Similar thoughts on Lattimore. Ew on Ross. -

Official schedule released
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have to laugh about the number of people who are freaking out about the schedule before the draft even happens. Did anyone expect Cincinnati or Carolina or Arizona to be as bad as they were last year? Or the Cowboys and Raiders to suddenly look like a renewed dynasty? There are a few quibbles: what looks like a rough start. The alternating Phins/Pats to end the season. The Bills and Jets in TNF...again. I actually wanted more prime time games. It's hard to catch them out of market where I currently live. But there are no 3 game road trips. We don't play anyone coming off a bye. FWIW, I think the Phins are overrated, and are going to come crashing back to Earth, so I don't hate finishing up the season against them. -
McDermott Coaching Style - Good or Bad
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to PolishDave's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not too worried yet. For one, McDermott already made changes when he went from the Eagles to the Panthers mostly in that he moved from exotic blitz packages to more of the pure single gap pressure system in the linemen. Considering how much we see Brady rip up blitzes, I can't fault him too much. As for the cornerbacks, let's be honest: we do need more. We have Darby and Seymour and not much else. We're looking at more of zone corners, so that will probably help. Actually, Jeff Ratcliffe did a breakdown of a lot of the different run concept that teams ran. Nearly half of the run plays last year were inside or outside zones, compared to something like 13% power. Yes, Roman installed a hybrid system but Lynn called a lot more zone runs once he took over. -
Kevon Seymour's potential in McDermott scheme
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I liked all of Seymour's measurables when we took him last year. Unfortunately, it seems like Rex's scheme constantly throws the boundary corners to the wolves. I have a feeling that Darby and Seymour have a bounce back year, but I would really like to see some added depth. That said, this is apparently the year to do it, especially if we have 3 5th round picks. -
Peppers making his case
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the concern is about the fact that he seems to be a "tweener" between a WLB and a box safety, and that he might struggle in zone coverage. That said, if that's the way that McD wants to build the defense I am ok with it. We keep hearing about being a "passing league", so running with 3 safeties all the time doesn't bother me. -
Pats sign Gillislee to offer sheet
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to johnwalter's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hey, I like Gilly and I'm not happy to see him go to the Pats. But a 5th round pick helps us a lot with depth. This is a year that I keep hearing is deep at A) defensive backs B) running back and C) wide receiver. Which just so happens to be the three positions the Bills need the most depth in. Here a 5th rounder can give us fresher legs for 4 more years. I would be more worried if we are looking for a starter, but I'm not freaking out. -
Prospect Watch: Mitch Trubisky QB, UNC
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to Maury Ballstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Look, if Taylor gets hurt, of course give him a shot. But I'm not freaking out at the hypothetical of taking a guy at 10 and not freaking out if he doesn't win the starting job. You're reaching master level freak-out if you are freaking out about a hypothetical of a hypothetical #10 QB who hypothetically doesn't win the starting job hypothetically doesn't get played in case of a hypothetical Tyrod Taylor injury. Hypothetically. Sorry, I couldn't resist on the last one. -
If WR at 10, which one?
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would say Williams. The scouting reports I've seen project him as a good fit for a WCO and he supposedly has a great catch radius. I wouldn't mind Davis, but Williams is my first choice. -
Prospect Watch: Mitch Trubisky QB, UNC
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to Maury Ballstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Look, I am not banging down the door for a QB at 10. So I have no problem sitting him behind Taylor for a year. Give him time to get uses to the speed. Let's not throw him to the wolves like, say, Tannehill/EJ/Geno/Bortles. -
The McDermott Era begins - Voluntary OTAs

It's good to give that to kids early in life, so they are prepared for a lifetime of it. -
Is it okay to have a second team to root for?
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm marrying an Eagles fan, so that makes me one by proxy. It's actually not that hard a leap. Despite their reps Philly fans have been perfectly nice to me, and they also know the lament of never winning a championship. That they loath the Cowboys and the Patriots helps. -
Prospect Watch: Mitch Trubisky QB, UNC
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to Maury Ballstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm getting increasingly convinced that the Bills are taking a QB early. Ideally it would be with a trade back or second round. But after this year Tyrod's cap hit skyrockets, but not a lot is guaranteed. He seems very dealable. I like Tyrod, but if want to draft for the future, I want to give the guy the year in the bench which EJ never got. -
NFL Draft outside this year(Philly)
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm more worried about the fact that it looks like they are setting it up in a way that will seriously block one of the busier, traffic heavy parts of the city. When the Pope visited in the same spot traffic way multi-day clustercuss -
Jets may trade Sheldon Richardson!
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to KGun12TD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only way I see doing this is if we are willing to move on from Kyle. Richardson is in his last year and has the 5th year option salary. We would need a major cap cut to afford his guaranteed salary. -
most mocks have bills taking williams
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to buffuct's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have no idea why so many people hate the idea of Williams. For one, we need a #2 receiver. Desperately. We saw a year of "making do" last year and I didn't like it. Say what you will about TT, but with Sammy hurt we might have had the single worst WR corps in the league. Pretty much every evaluation I've seen of Williams has him as a top 15 prospect (at worst). He has the bigger build to be the contrast to Sammy and has a great catch radius. I get trading down since this is a deep draft but the quality of WR looks like it falls off a cliff after Williams and Davis. Maybe some decent pieces, but not some who is going to replace Sammy of he goes down again. -
Bills hosting FA CB B.W. Webb

I've never heard of him, but I'm hardly against getting some depth. -
Bruce Arians: "Only 1 draftable QB ready to start".
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He doesn't need one to start right away. He has Palmer to bring along the new guy.
