It's hard to move on from a guy when he did enough to get us in the playoffs. There are mitigating factors too with not a lot of WR talent for most of the year. With Benjamin, the offense really looked better. I would like to see him with another year, with better recievers.

With all of the focusing (at least dollars wise in FA) cornerbacks, it's somehow a surprise that quality safety play elevates the whole secondary. These were two huge pickups, and Poyer in particular has surprised me. I agree that if we sign Gaines back and draft another CB our secondary looks set for years.

Look, I'll admit to Tyrod having limitations, but I remember something really key yesterday. On one of the deep throws to Holmes, he looked off the safety to leave Holmes in single coverage. This has been one of his biggest criticisms. I will give credit where it is due. The excellent play on defense and special teams often gave him a short field, but when it mattered he drove the team down the field, chewed up clock, kept the chains moving, got us the encroachment call and dove in to get us 7 points where normally we would settle for 3.
