  1. Nice, nice. He still produced decently last year with the rest of the line falling down around him. With Star in the center with him, I am less worried about the D-line. We can hopefully spend our later picks in preparing his replacement.
  2. That's my guess. They just signed Michael Bennet, and drafted Derek Barnett in the first last year. Between Brandon Graham and Vinnie Curry, they have $12 million to gain in cap space.
  3. Keep an eye on the Eagles salary cap. Last I checked, they were still over by a good margin. If we want to replenish our D-line, them cutting a rotational player or two seems likely.
  4. I am taking some of the humor out of it, but I sort of agree. 2017 was the wrong year to tank. I was very outspoken against the Watkins and Darby trade at the time. I cited the fact that our dead cap situation would be terrible in 2018. Well, I can't say that I loved every move, but I agree that getting the playoffs resets the clock and gets rid of the Sword of Damocles hanging over our head. Where I differ from you is when we would really compete again. I think this year is too much of a rebuilding one. We've gotten rid of a lot of contracts, we don't have a franchise QB (or a bridge QB ATM) and I think there are so many new faces incoming that it will likely take a year to gel. However, in 2019 we will have gobs of cap space. Assuming we hit on a franchise QB in this draft and we see where our holes are, I can see us seriously compering in 2019
  5. Bucky Gleason Whoops! I had the wrong Bucky. For me Gleason is more annoying than Sully
  6. Brees took it down to the wire, but I don't think anyone seriously thought Brees would go somewhere else.
  7. It's really not that much, and we have q lot of dead cap from this, but I think this puts us top 10 in cap space. 2019 will be the year we get a ton of cap.
  8. Holy hell. If it's true that we are swapping firsts, then I am positive that we are moving up to a top 5 pick. This looks like almost exactly what the Eagles did to get Wentz.
  9. Indeed. The story that I had heard from pundits who loved the move was "yeah, it was only seven games, but you didn't see how he looked in those seven! He passes the eye test!" And he might but I have a hard time looking at such a small sample size. He stepped into a team that had been flailing and no one was taking seriously, but they hardly had the most impressive lineup: Giants (#2 overall pick), Seahawks (lost), Bears (floundering), Texans (No D. Watson), Titans (impressive), Jacksonville (Impressive, but Jax is overrated), Rams (starters were not playing) Now, teams have a full offseason to watch his film
  10. He certainly will look for someone who will convince him of that. The Vikings were happy to have him, and roll with him in 2016 and the start of 2017. Maybe the Jets or Broncos are willing to back up the Brinks truck. Personally, I think he shops around and finds what you say: that I personally can't think of anyone who would roll with him as the undisputed starter. Likely, he gets at best a "compete for the job" role.
  11. I'm actually alright with it if the money is alright. It means that we are almost certainly taking a 1st round QB, and that we won't force him in too soon. Let him beat out Moore, and have Moore help him be a professional.
  12. The only way I could see that happening is that Peterman goes Tanya Harding on every other QB, WR and TE on the roster, just to be safe.
  13. I am reasonably certain that if it is something important to him, he would ask before he signs. Of course, we could lie to him and then draft a guy, but that tend to sour you to a lot of agents and it's not a great long term move.
  14. I would actually be ok with Bradford starting for a year, with the expectation that he would be gone the next year and if he gets injured our rookie steps up. I think the biggest problem is that he really doesn't want to be a backup. He really resented Wentz being drafted, and sources said that he wanted to be a starter, and that he felt like he was a starter. If it is obvious that he is just going to be benched the moment a rookie is ready, I doubt that he bites.
  15. This is unfortunately accurate. I am the other friend in that conversation.
  16. Oh, I know. I just posted something to the end in another thread. EVERYTHING I have seen indicates that they fell in love with a guy, and have a deal in principle where they are rather sure that they are going to get him. It still doesn't take away the sting that Peterman, even before the league year begins, is our current starter. The pain is just too great. Yes, I think he is THAT bad.
  17. *projectile vomits* Man, that was a fun Friday night out, what did I miss? Oh, Peterman is our starter Oh god, just kill me now... On another note, I see B-man is in favor of this. If PPP didn't convince me, this certainly does.
  18. Dude, I find myself agreeing with you a whole lot, so extra belated welcome for coming here. I have to think that the Bills have an in-principle deal in place. I really don't see anything else to explain it. Like you mentioned, they keep making deals by signing cut FA before free agency. They have, at this point, six draft picks in the first 3 rounds. They just got rid of their bridge QB. In my mind, nothing about this suggests that the Bills are content with waiting until 21 to take a QB. I think they like someone, and are willing to spend to take a chance on him. There was a report out (unconfirmed of course) that the Giants were willing to deal for our two firsts in 2018, our first in 2019 and Glenn. If so, this makes perfect sense: we get a rookie QB without too many dire holes. We have enough cap space to pick up a few solid mid-level FAs on days 2 and 3 of the the FA carnival to reinforce the WR and LB group. 2nd and 3rd round is a great time to shore DTs, LBs and RT and C. We turn over a decently prepared work in progress to a rookie, and see where your weaknesses are. Then, in 2019, a LOT of dead money comes free and the Bills are in the position to spend bigger to fill in the gaps. It's a structure pretty damn close to what the Eagles did in 2016 and 2017.
  19. I can work with this. There is a lot of speculation that the Browns will take Barkley at #1 overall, and it looks like the Giants looks like they want to run with Eli for one more year. #3, to take our pick of a QB? I can work with that.
  20. Excellent work by the Eagles. They are heavily cap strapped, and were likely going to cut him anyway. Getting anything for him would have been nice. The curious thing is that the Eagles secondary was already looking stacked between Darby, Mills, and Sidney Jones working back from his Achilles.
  21. Yeah, I had forgotten about that too. He's the kind of player that you hate when he's on another team, and loves on yours. That said, I don't know if he's the right fit. We traded Darby because we allegedly didn't need a great man corner. I honestly don't know the money he is looking for. I'm not ranking him coming here is a high likelihood, but I said that same thing about Vontae. If we get him, our secondary would be legit.
  22. Don't get me wrong, I would absolutely take Watkins back but I really don't see him doing it. He made some comments that he was unhappy here, and he wants to get PAID. I don't see Beane cracking open the piggy bank for him.
  23. I agree with most people that we are probably going to pick up a late rounded to go in. It sounds like Ivory's contract is front loaded and contract driven.
  24. He's a pretty good complement to Shady. My only worry is that's a decent amount of money for an older RB
