  1. Kevin Smith has basically released one disappointment after another for the past twenty years (I guess at some point expectations have been lowered enough to not be considered a disappointment.) Also, this movie appears to be about a mad scientist turning a dude into a walrus. Might be derivative of the Human Caterpillar (which I could not bring myself to watch.) Still, something in me is telling me to take Friday off and go see this movie. Has my wife been slipping me crazy pills?
  2. Jordan Palmer stopped by, he was wondering if he could include you as a reference on his resume.
  3. This explains it, I think. http://deadspin.com/the-dolphins-stadium-is-literally-built-on-an-indian-bu-1638547584
  4. How much of the trust not being there is based on his receivers not being where they're supposed to be. Hard for us to know, but there were at least three throws on Sunday that looked like EJ decisively placed a ball somewhere not near a receiver. Seemed like he was expecting them to be somewhere else. Maybe I'm seeing something that's not there, maybe it's a misread by EJ, or maybe it's a misread by the receiver. We can't tell unfortunately, but I think it's worth consideration, especially when discussing trust.
  5. 1. He has been throwing downfield. Maybe not every drive, but there have been multiple downfield throws in each game so far. It hasn't been very effective, for a variety of reasons. It certainly gets harder to throw downfield when there is pressure coming up the middle on just about every passing down. 2. The point is, if he doesn't feel his receiver is open, he's usually doing the right thing by throwing it where it can't be intercepted. Sometimes he's just been inaccurate (especially in the SD game), and he will need to do better, especially as defenses bring more pressure. I agree that he needs to play better. I don't think he played terrible, or fell apart, or that this game was an indication that he can't become a very good QB.
  6. Losman had a lot less talent around him than EJ's been given. I think 3 years for EJ is fair. Less than 2 is insane.
  7. I think it's also worth pointing out that most other rookie (and non-rookie) QBs have had much worse games than what EJ gave us last Sunday. I am not saying he played well, but I keep hearing that he fell apart, that he was terrible etc.... If that ends up being his worst game this year (I doubt it will be) we are likely to have a very successful year. A completion percentage in the high 50s with 1 TD, no interceptions and 3 sacks is not falling apart. Anyone who lives in NY / NJ and is regularly shown Giants games can tell you that falling apart is Eli throwing 5 picks with 3 sacks in the same game.
  8. So on the first one, there is pressure in his face. On the second, he overthrows Watkins. On the third and fourth, it seems impossible to tell if the receiver is where he is supposed to be.
  9. Yes, Eli is boom or bust or busted. He has won some games, he's also played some truly terrible games. EJ's performance doesn't put him in that conversation. He played a very conservative game, that's not the same as falling apart. Falling apart is getting sacked 7 times or throwing 4 interceptions, or throwing 5 interceptions with 3 sacks in the same game. http://www.nfl.com/player/elimanning/2505996/gamelogs?season=2013
  10. A few guys not being ready to play is too many. 1. Defensive pass coverage was bad, especially when (not) covering Green. 2. There were far too many plays where the SD defense had pressure on EJ from more than one angle, collapsing the pocket and giving him nowhere to escape to. 3. There were several routes where EJ obviously saw a blitz and tried to dump it to the hot receiver, only to have the hot receiver not looking. 4. E.J. also missed a few throws, and had a few missed opportunities to get first downs running.
  11. I'm not saying he played well yesterday, but "falls apart" seems like an overstatement. 23/39 for 238, 3 sacks, 1TD and no INTs is not playing very well, it is also not falling apart. Go watch Eli Manning have a bad game and talk to me about falling apart.
  12. Almost as dangerous as asking Flutie or Johnson. Siri, who was the last coach to take the Buffalo Bills to the playoffs? That or, Dang these Jitterbug buttons are still too durned small.
  13. I thought the sound was good, and the band was a lot of fun. It seemed like Paul was having trouble remembering some lyrics (seemed pretty sloshed.) Yeah, they were !@#$ing around, not sure what else would be expected. I didn't see Deer Tick, Hold Steady was not my cup of tea.
  14. Not sure which games that ranking is based on, but it seemed to me like the line played much worse this Sunday than in the first 2 games.
  15. What I'm seeing is the exact opposite of what you're saying we should expect. Our O-line has been extremely inconsistent, in run and pass blocking. I don't care about pancake blocks, I want the RB to not be getting hit behind the line of scrimmage. I want the pocket to hold for 3 seconds (or at least only have it collapse in 1 direction on any given play so the QB can adjust.) If there is an O line breakdown on 1 of every 4 plays (a rough estimate based on what I saw on Sunday) then it will be extremely hard for the offense to sustain drives, especially when you add in penalties and blown routes / inaccurate passes.
  16. I wonder how much of it is coaches insistence he not take any hits since our backup QB has been with the team for 3 weeks.
  17. In order to do so the O line needs to hold the pocket long enough for the receiver to get downfield. Our O line stunk today.
  18. I remember having this argument at a game about 10 years ago with a couple of Canadians. When I brought up the locker room bull **** about Flutie, the response was "Dougie wouldn't say that. No, Dougie wouldn't say that." Since that day, my dislike of Canadians has almost equalled my dislike of Doug Flutie.
  19. go charge an iphone you soft yellow footballers make way for Williams
