Failure to adjust to playoff officiating
Captain Caveman replied to Captain Caveman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My biggest concern is that this coaching staff has a ton of these championship games under their belt, and this wasn't a lesson we should have needed to learn last night. It makes me wonder why we didn't proactively adjust, expecting the officiating to be a bit looser in the playoffs. -
Failure to adjust to playoff officiating
Captain Caveman posted a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As the game played out last night, and also thinking about the Ravens game, I think one of our biggest challenges on both sides of the ball was failing to adjust to how officials call holding and pass interference. In both of the last two games our WRs have had a very hard time getting open and you can see defenders literally draped all over them, with very few penalties called. I noticed the same in most of the other playoff games this year as well. There are ways for an offense to combat this but it didn't really happen last night. On the other side of the ball, our defenders are still playing a soft zone, and getting beat accordingly. With all of the playoff experience our coaches have I'm surprised they haven't prepared / adjusted for this - hopefully they'll have a better handle on it next year.- 16 replies

Josh McCown for HC possibly in Houston

If coverage of your head coach search contains the phrase "not as crazy as it seems" and "and if anybody can do it" you might be the Houston Texans -

I don't know they were likely about to tie the game -
If we bring Ingram in I expect it's just for the next few weeks, he's on the wrong side of 30.

Moss is done for the year.

yeah, profootballtalk got this wrong the first time around, at least they clarified. I'd absolutley look at him as an option / backup for the SB.

What would be a bigger letdown - If he doesn't do the bet, or being a Qanon guy at 12:01 today? -

Pats fans jumping on Bills Wagon!

I remember rooting for the Patriots during their first year with Brady (after we were out of the picture), thinking it's nice they can have some success after so many lousy years. -

I think it's important to call out this stuff, even if there's no getting through to them. -

How is it culturally cancelling? The guy's an A-hole and someone decided not to work with him. -
I wonder if he'd be interested in joining the practice squad for a SB run, and hopefully be ready to go in 2.5 weeks pretty sure the answer is yes If we'd pick him up most likely it would be on the practice squad, no real cap ramifications It didn't stop them from picking up Freeman - I'd say they value building the best roster over everything, if they think he's a better option they'll take a look.

No, otherwise teams would do this all the time. The cap hit comes from the annual salary plus signing bonus which is spread over the length of the contract. A lot of these bonuses are huge and spread over long periods (to minimize the impact over any single year) but then when the contract is terminated early the remainder gets added to the cap all in a year or two .

I believe Coach of the Year and MVP votes both were due the Wednesday following the regular season.
