  1. It's getting harder and harder to focus on anything but football. I think I have a problem.
  2. I can't tell if you're a troll, or just stupider than stupid. At this point, it doesn't matter.
  3. I think people would prefer that he keep his mouth shut, until he can at least beat out Kerry Collins for the starting job. At least I would prefer that.
  4. I doubt he'll be able to make much of a difference in the first two months anyway, especially after missing all OTAs and at least the first week of camp. WRs typically aren't very productive in their first year, even high picks, although of course there are exceptions.
  5. Tim Graham has indicated that the cab driver was John Butler. http://myespn.go.com/blogs/nflnation/0-8-3...-in-Canton.html
  6. The other exception is that players can go to a DIvision III school or Junior College for just a year, and stay eligible for the draft the next year.
  7. How is this different than what I said?
  8. You have a problem with responding to posts without reading the previous conversation. The discussion was around the MLB draft, and how it differed from the NFL draft.
  9. After a quick search it looks like you're right. So a high school player who does not sign after being drafted would not be able to go to school for just one year as I stated, but must wait until either completing their Junior year of college, or turning 21.
  10. I think it's interesting that in the video I posted earlier some journalists were commenting that electing Tasker would be like spitting in the face of guys like Dick Butkus. I can see why they'd be hesitant to do something like that, but I also wonder what some of the old timers actually think, especially guys who had seen Tasker play. If Dick Butkus actually came out and said "Steve Tasker and other special teams players don't belong", I'd have to consider it. I'm pretty sure I've seen Kelly, and Marv both come out and say he deserves it. Has anybody seen anything from Thurman or Bruce about Steve being in there? It would be an interesting question to ask Bruce (for anyone with press credentials who is going to be in Canton this weekend.)
  11. That is a ridiculously good name.
  12. I can see your point here, in that he was dominant against guys who didn't have his talent and coaching. But the fact is, his dominance made people pay attention to special teams, which is one reason why you don't see that kind of imbalance anymore. I'll say it again. He changed the game.
  13. THE BILLS ARE SO CHEAP!!! WHY CAN'T THEY JUST PAY SAN FRAN TO SIGN CRABTREE SO WE CAN GET MAYBIN IN ON TIME!!!! THAT'S WHY THIS FRANCHISE SUCKS!!!! Note the sarcasm.
  14. The fact that the picks before and after hadn't signed mean that there still is a way to go. It has much more to do with the # taken than the position, other than for a few high value positions (e.g. QB.) Hopefully if Moreno signs soon, they can work off of that and not have to wait for Crabtree also.
  15. You're right that not every team has a Tasker. That speaks to his uniqueness in my opinion. But I do think that most teams are placing more emphasis on special teams because of him. And I think that most teams are on the lookout now for special teams standouts, whereas most were content before to just put whoever on the field that was expendable.
  16. That's a tough call to make. But I would say that without any one of those three players, I don't think they make 4 straight super bowls. And Reed and Hull were good, but the NFL didn't have to create a Pro Bowl position for them. Tasker really did change the game, pretty much on willpower alone, and that's hard to argue against.
  17. you're probably right there.
  18. Does anyone know of another player, special teams or not who went to the pro bowl seven times and is not in?
  19. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=straight+american+slave
  20. Just came across this. This dude needs to be in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VhfAMxg2XU
  21. If this thread was a John Reis song, what would it be? Pressure's On? Venom Venom?
  22. Here are some guys who have some pretty great careers with much longer holdouts than Maybin. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/trainingcamp...&id=2116504
  23. That is what would happen. It just (almost) never does in the NFL, because it would be so harmful to both parties. It happens more frequently in baseball because players are drafted while they still have college eligibility, so they can go back to school for another year to increase their draft stock. Also teams aren't as worried about signing every pick since the MLB draft is like 30 rounds, and even top prospects usually take years to make the majors.
