Waived Injured means they are going to put him on IR after he clears waivers. If he clears waivers he will be put on IR and they can either negotiate an injury settlement or pay him the full season salary.

I haven't looked at it, but this thread is seriously bumming me out.

I think this is similar to the guy the Pats picked up off of Waived / Injured earlier this preseason. If that is the case, I think he would have to start the regular season 53 man roster, then we could move him to IR once the regular season starts. Does that make sense? In any case, if we had any interest I imagine we would have given him a look a few months ago.

The coaches won't hesitate to do it if they see him as an improvement. They want the best team on the field, it's not like they have high draft picks invested in Thad or Tuel.

Every player is different, so I don't think anyone here can tell you with any certainly if he can move over "seamlessly". I would guess that regardless of what he's done in the past, it will likely take at least a few weeks to get him up to speed playing on the other side.
