The Steelers aren't putting up any kind of fight on either side of the ball and it's only 14-0 at the half. What I'm trying to say is: Go Bills.

It sounds like a very realistic outcome, despite all the bluster from the talking heads.

Only Lamar Jackson can run off tackle uncovered as half the defense follows Derrick Henry.

I think if the 2023 MVP was awarded to CMC (or anyone else really), I would not be so annoyed by the 2024 race. I still believe in the case for Josh (and think its still in possible), but 2023 created a mess for how its discussed in the media and ultimately awarded.

In my opinion, this is the crux of the consternation as a Bills fan: moreso that Lamar was awarded the 2023 MVP at all and not so much that Allen didn't get it, although a case could be made he was deserving as Aaron Schatz established.

This is so true. So many talking heads have emphasized the difference between this year's Allen vs. prior seasons is how he's cut down on turnovers which in the past prevented the Bills from being successful. Nevermind the fact the Bills are the 2nd most successful franchise in wins, points, yards, et al since 2020. It's all based on selective bias, an unwillingness to acknowledge their priors were incorrect.

None of the books listed at this link have live odds listed for NFL MVP futures, fwiw. The odds listed at vegasinsider appear to be from before the shift, but we'll see.

I definitely remember the outright CONTEMPT old school NFL analysts had for the run and shoot--- there was utter shock the Oilers didn't even roster a single Tight End.

Isn't it true he chose the CFL out of college because the NFL wanted him to play CB instead of QB? I dont know about him being hated, but he was definitely underestimated due to the (then very prevalent) stigma against black QBs. Lamar faced this to a degree (most infamously Bill Polian), but not to the extent Moon did.

I think a big part of the backlash is a reaction to how many media members loudly declared Josh MVP during the stretch against KC, San Fran, LA and Detroit. Lamar's numbers were good enough that it was interpreted as disrespectful, especially considering how sensitive Lamar backers have been over the course of his career (in some cases, for good reason). It also smacks somewhat of entitlement, though. Praise of one player isn't intended as disrespect toward another and Lamar sure as hell isnt the greatest QB to ever play the game as Harbaugh said last week. This MVP result is going to leave a stink in its wake regardless of who wins. The NFL has reached a media saturation point where there are simply too many voices mouthing off baiting for clicks and views.
