This has been the case for at least 35 years. I remember the likes of Louis Oliver and Bryan Cox often thinking they had the AFC East wrapped up in September only for the Bills to take it from them when it mattered. Even when they won the Division in 1992, the Bills went down to Miami for the AFCCG and kicked their fins.

The Bills will refer to it as Week 22 (or 23, if you consider the bye after the AFCCG).

There's speculation he suffered a core injury against Jacksonville and has been compensating for it ever since. He does appear to be protecting it and his numbers have declined since that game. As has been mentioned throughout this thread, Diggs has been the same teammate (to the extent to which we can tell) as ever, constantly pumping up and supporting the other players, including Josh.

He's definitely not winning it but the case for him being included in the discussion is apparent. All the disassociated high minded posters on this board arguing disproportionately against even the discussion of Allen's candidacy are ridiculous. There's far too much credence paid to what amounts to overly conservative offense, MVP voters and analysts, as a whole, don't credit high risk playmaking as they once did. Allen attempts a lot of high risk plays because he's capable of making them, and he does so more often that not. We all watched as Tua needed to make game breaking throws the entire 2nd half on Sunday Night and he simply can't make them. Mike McDaniel acknowledged as much during the postgame on the ill fated throw to Claypool that was intercepted. It was a pathetic attempt. He's often compared to Brett Favre and John Elway, and the comparison is appropriate. Patrick Mahomes and Matthew Stafford are capable of making many of the types of throws Allen can but they can't run like Allen and they both have high level offensive strategists and talent surrounding them--- or in the case of Mahomes, he has historically had that talent around him, but not this year. Josh Allen isn't going to win 2023 MVP, but for god's sakes, he's one of the greatest football players to ever play the game and you're wasting your life trying to complain on the godamned internet with other fans of the team. Enjoy it while it lasts, soon enough we'll be right back to Kelly Holcomb. But maybe that's what some of you want, he's efficient and doesn't turn the ball over. Nor does he win games, score TDs or entertain.

I'm interested in our historical performance against opponents but I don't think the distant past is relevant as far as how the Bills will fare in the current day. Josh Allen's record against Miami gives at least some indication of how a game might go, but not 0 for the 70s.

Josh Allen is the Buffalo Bills across their history, personified: Relentless. Whether Jim Kelly compared to Bobby Layne, who never lost a game but only ran out of time---- or Marv Levy reciting the Scottish poem about Sir Andrew: "Fight on, my men, I am hurt, but I am not slain; I'll lay me down and bleed a while, And then I'll rise and fight again." When he's gone, we'll all wish we appreciated him more. He's a gift.

I was surprised to see Cowherd's take after the game. I'm not a fan, but if nothing else, he's smart to zig when so many are zagging.

Shakir profiled very similarly to Diggs coming out of college. I'm not saying he'll directly replace Stefon, but he's very talented and I expect him to contribute in a big way for years to come.

If he had even average turnover luck, he might have had a stronger case. Allen's had one of the lowest turnover worthy play rates in the League all year, despite the turnovers.

As far as I can tell, he was never officially ruled out like Gabe and Dodson.
