Are we sold on either Ron Brooks, Aaron Williams or Leodis McKelvin to solidify the spot opposite of Gilmore? We just hired the Jets D-Coordinator, I say lets recruit their secondary. What are your thoughts on signing Cromartie if we can get the right price for him? Anyone else in FA or through the draft you would rather have? Or are we going to settle with what we have in the secondary at this time? Also unrelated completely to this topic, does Marrone keep Fitz in the competition for next year's QB role? Announcement for his departure, anyone have any ideas when they would make that decision?

Ryan Nassib - QB - Syracuse

RYAN NASSIB IS HORRIBLE. Let's hope he isn't our selection as the future. He's not going to amount to jack squat in the pros. -
Gailey- Fitz is the guy for us- full quote in first post

I actually agree that we should stick with fitz. I think he needs more time in this offense to develope some continuity. I think the deep ball will be something he'll develope in his later years of his contract. Deep ball is something you can teach with some help from our mechanics QB coach and the fact he doesn't have it right now and everyone is on his throat about it, let's not keep changing everything just as we're getting comfortable with the scheme. I think we should focus on changing the routine so that he isn't always forced to make throws at crucial points in the game, it's not the QB's job to win the game everytime or make crucial throws when we're losing. He's smart so he's going to be able to really get the x's and o's as his carreer develops. he's had only 2 years of this system as a starter. The 3rd year is going to be his breakout year not the second. Unless he just completely bombs out this year or coaching changes happen I am behind him for next year and until his contract runs out and we've paid him the full amount. I think we should give Gailey and Wanny an extension as they are actually better than anything we've had in the last 3 years. Everyone forgets about what we had for offense before Gailey. We had 0 screen , the most readable offense imaginable and no run game. For defense even though the numbers look the same as to where we are in the league they're making stops. I do think the team is out of sync right now and not playing to their ability and that we do need to blitz on third down more than we are but I have a belief that we can still make the playoffs. They need to win out but this is a team that can do it. I still BILLIEVE. -
What do you gain from hiring a new Coach/GM mid-season? Do we wait one more game to let the heads roll? Seeing that Sunday's game against the Colts pretty much had the season on the line and Gailey showed his "No Stones" approach to the game by punting with 3 minutes left and horrendous play calling when it was most important I say he's first to go. I'm all for keeping Buddy around as he has tried to pull together some decent talent and did okay this past draft with Glenn, Gilmore combo. Fitz IMO is a victim of horrible play calling. I do think he's smart enough to run this offense himself and for the remainder of the season should be given the reins to make the calls in the huddle, this pass first approach is part of the many reasons we haven't been winning. I truly believe that offensive and defensive coaching are to blame for 90% of our losses. Yes our LB squad is laughable but this defense has stopped drives. I noticed only ONE time on 3rd and long we threw a LB in on a blitz,,,, ONE TIME! Wanny was relying as always on the front for to get pressure by themselves. QB had all day back there on 3rd and they in turn got first downs on every crucial 3rd down. That's coaching not talent. If I were Ralph I would let the heads roll starting with Gailey and Wanny, Keep Fitzy and Nix.

I loved watching Byrd play his position tonight. He was never caught out of position and closes so fast it's ridiculous. What a home run we got with him. I just hope the win is infectious and whatever that last 5 game stretch funk was is hopefully gone. I did not think we finished our drives well and again there were a few questionable play calls especially that 3rd and one on their side of the field... Don't get cute, use the guy that averages 7 yards a carry...

I say we use our top 3 picks all on QB's since this administration sucks at drafting, maybe and i say maybe, with 3 picks they could get 1 half decent one. Just as always we will win just enough to be out between 7th and 11th. They're unfortunately going to have a strong second half of the season since after New England the schedule gets weaker. I'm convinced that this losing season is 60% Chan's play calling and 40% fitzgeralds arm. I think if we give fitzgerald a more rounded run first game plan we'd be atleast at 500 at this point. Chan is crazy to not be handing the ball to spiller every other play IMO, he's in his prime right now and they're still trying to get freddy his share. I think that train has run it's track. We should be shopping freddy IMO. He's at least got some value since he's still got some time left on his clock. Maybe we could get a quality LB in a trade with him and a late draft pick. GM will not do anything though so why talk about it.

I just watched an old school video of Merriman when he was terrorizing QB's in San Diego and he was playing OLB on every one of the plays getting to the QB. Why do we have him at DE when he's obviously a situational pass Rusher at OLB? Why do Wanny and Chan feel he is a DE? Isn't it crazy to think that part of his problem of getting back to his old form is due to us making him put a hand to the ground on every play he's in? This past game i had the opporunity to rewatch all 7 snaps he was in and on the first snap he took in particular he had come off the ball so fast and got a hurry on the QB that the tackle gaurding him looked stupid. On the other seven plays he had trouble winning the hand battles with the tackle and I'm no DC but it makes sense to me that his role in SD was to get around the tackle not hand battle with him. I would love to see him switch him to a 3rd down LB not an every down DE. I think we'd get much more out of him this way.

Dude the fat guy doing beyonce is out of control funny and disturbing all at the same time. Nice post. If it were a racist topic we would put a photo of Wang next to Margaret Cho but we didn't so chill out. Where is Wang now adays?

The brady video was the best thing that went viral since chocolate rain. I do have to say though that if Fitzy would win us as many rings as Brady has, he could be caught on film dancing on a stripper pole buck naked and i wouldn't think twice about backing the guy up. He may dance like a complete pansy but the guy can ball. And yes I do hate his guts. Chocolate Rain. Bringing it back for the heck of it.

This is fun anyone have anymore? Found another one and it's awesome. For that last one, i tried to think of the biggest douche bag i could.

Strip away the bling and add some facial hair and CJ looks exactly like P-Diddy. Not that this has anything to do with football but just thought it was crazy how two people could look so alike.

All the Fitz bashing is driving me nuts. Yes he missed long balls in the last two games, yes he has thrown ducks but more can be said on the defensive side of the ball to where the problems really lie. Let's not fool ourselves here, our #1 reciever would be a #2 on about 80% of all other NFL team rosters. We have no depth on WR and our line hasn't exactly proven to be a steel wall the last two losses as well. Fitz has won, he can win and replacing him is the first knee jerk reaction to everyone looking to blame someone. We have to cause 3 and outs, give him more chances. Anytime that the defense gives up that many yards and is on the field that long we are going to lose. Our lack of WR depth and our underperforming secondary (young corners) as well as the non existent LB crew are the issue. The Stash has to be more inventive with blitz schemes that's obvious. Sending 4 guys isn't working. Put Matt Ryan on this team and you still have the losses we have suffered so lets stop asking for Fitz head on a platter. 3 losses are 3 losses no matter if you lose like we did or by a field goal. I still say we have a decent shot of turning things around. Call me sentimental but i'm not ready to throw them under the bus.

We need a score on the first possesion. Too many times last year we were playing from behind because our offense took forever to warm up. It's going to be a tough fight but I've said this to my friends at the office that are Bills fans... The season outlook really will be told by how we handle this first game. If we come out looking rejuvinated and just crush the Jets then it will be a definite confidence booster for the locker room and a statement to the AFC East competition. If we get burned and hang our heads then it will get us off to a bad start where we haven't been able to win in our division will continue to be an issue. Our Defense should keep us in games especially this one but we have to be able run the ball on offense and not leave so much on Fitz shoulders. I hope to see a 70/30 run to pass ratio in this game. Two back backfields and some screens to the open side would be nice also. Keep it simple. runs and screens. The Bills ended on a good note in preseason on first team offense. Let's hope that we can trust Chan to put the ball in freddy and CJ's hands more than Fitz until he builds up his confidence with short throws before they start to air it out. If this game ends up an air battle I don't think we can win.

Dolphins (2011 season record - (6-10) AFC East Record (3-3) "The Dolphins have worked rookie right tackle and second-round pick Jonathan Martin exclusively with the first team in training camp. He's a virtual lock to start in Week 1. Martin played in a pro-style offense at Stanford and was Andrew Luck's left tackle. Martin is switching to the right side this year to pair with Dolphins left tackle Jake Long." - ESPN A rookie lineman protecting a rookie QB is recipe for disaster in what used to be our biggest Rival in the AFC east. This just goes to show how well the Bills went through their due dilligence to pick the right guy. The draftneks were throwing Martin at the top of some boards for LT's when he's not even going to be an LT in the NFL. Part of me wishes that we played them earlier on in the season so we get give him a nice warm welcome against the elite players we have now on the D-Line. I have faith that Cordy Glenn will play above the level of Demetrius Bell. Week 10 - Headline "Buffalo's D-Line makes sushi out of the Dolphins" or... "Bills D Breaks the NFL Single game Sack record with 13 sacks in one game" Dolphins 2012 Draft Ryan Tannehill, QB, Texas A&M Jonathan Martin, OT, Stanford Olivier Vernon, DE, Miami Michael Egnew, TE, Missouri Lamar Miller, RB, Miami Josh Kaddu, OLB, Oregon B.J. Cunningham, WR, Michigan State Jonte Green, DB, New Mexico State Kheeston Randall, DT, Texas Rishard Matthews, WR, Nevada Patriots 2011 season record - (13-3) AFC East Record (5-1) Pats went ALL defense except for a WR in the 7th. No denying which side of the ball Belicheat is looking to improve. Brady is the golden boy on this team, take him out of the equasion and this team is the last years Colts. Their recieving corps is top notch with the addition of Brandon Lloyd. Welker is aging but still a nightmare in coverage schemes with a dangerous 2 TE set with Hernandez & Gronk. This is obviously the team to beat and has been for years. Is Brady on the decline of his career? If he goes down early (against the Bills) can they rely on Brian Hoyer(?) or Ryan Mallet to run them to the playoffs? Patriots 2012 Draft Chandler Jones, DE, Syracuse Dont'a Hightower, LB, Alabama Tavon Wilson, FS, Illinois Jake Bequette, DE, Arkansas Nate Ebner, DB, Ohio State Alfonzo Dennard, CB, Nebraska Jeremy Ebert, WR, Northwestern Jets 2011 season record - (8-8) AFC East Record (3-3) A close friend keeping an eye on the Jets camp reported Stephen Hill is the real deal. Speed, size and hands and torched even Revis on a few routes on the first team 11 on 11's a few times. Big question on Sanchez if he can perform consitently after a 2010 11-5 record to a disappointing 2011 campaign to go .500 for the season. Bringing in Tebow for a media Circus will be a move that no one can understand and will only cause more conflict on an already conflicted lockerroom. I love watching them suffer and in my opinion they will spiral further into the lower third of the NFL teams this season after we crush their psyche in week 1. Jets 2012 Draft Quinton Coples, DE, North Carolina Stephen Hill, WR, Georgia Tech Demario Davis, OLB, Arkansas State Josh Bush, FS, Wake Forest Terrance Ganaway, RB, Baylor Robert T. Griffin, OG, Baylor Antonio Allen, SS, South Carolina Jordan White, WR, Western Michigan

Cordy Glenn on list of Top 10 Impact rookies
MClem06 replied to buffaloboyinATL's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When i watched the OTA's highlights for the first time and saw a few second glimpses of a mamouth Tackle with 77 on his chest, I thought WOW, that's a big dude. And how he protected just on that one play against a pretty quick D-line (think it was Anderson or Johnson) he shut them down. I just remember thinking to myself that this guy is shades better than Bell just from a size/technique look at one play. I think he's going to be a probowler in 2 maybe 3 years under our O-Line coach. On the note of Glenn not being drafted till the 2nd round, we did put that rumor out there that he was a Gaurd not a Tackle when the reporters asked buddy why he didn't take the next best tackle available. He did say that in an interview he insinuated that Glenn was not a prototypical LT but more of a Guard. Smokescreen to try to get him to fall and it worked. It was in an article after the draft (i don't have the link but promise that was said). -
Sorry guys, did a search and nothing came up. I did get the Yahoo Fantasy league logged in for this year and Buffalo's Defense is 13th Ranked on there. I may be a home town overexpecting mofo but I'm taking them this year for fantasy, just so i have even more of a reason to stand up and yell when our D-Line torments the opposing QB's. A couple more Yahoo rankings: Fitzy 20th out of 32 Qb's (ranked below Luck ???) Stevie 26th on the WR list Freddie 14th (marshawn 11th??) Chandler 32nd? TE What players you taking on the Fantasy squad this year?
-
My link It's the offseason and this doesn't mean crap but... I think this is the farthest up on the rankings preseason for as long as i can recall. When we were 5-1 with Trentative before he got the crap knocked out of him during the season we were ranked like 6 but then after that they pooped the bed. Just thought I'd bring it up even though it is meaningless. Like the Buffalo weather, you've got to soak up the sun while it's out! After next years draft watch out! We can shore up the WR and LB situation with the top two picks next time around (that's if we aren't looking at a new QB then.

Can the Bills Stop the Run? Obviously the success of the season for the Bills floats around a mixture of questions on improving different aspects of the game from last year. The #1 talked about topic is pressuring the QB with the new D-Line. That's great on 3rd Down passing situations but if we can't get past giving up 5-8 yards on 1st down plays against the run then what good is a pass rush? Teams last year crushed our D just by running it every direction they could against us. What improvements have we made to compensate for how horrendous our run D was?

Everyone has their own stance on this lawsuit. I'm sure this discussion will be back and forth with the NFL and the players until the point of us all watching flag football on Monday night football BUT... Why hasn't there been a "play at your own risk" clause in the contract of every player??? I can't believe this hasn't been addressed prior to this! Now the players are suing the NFL because they can't dream at night or are depressed along with a list of other related side effects of concussions. The arguement is that the NFL didn't do enough to protect the players at that time in football but you know you are going to go in there, get paid a ridiculous amount of money for a short 5-10 year stint and take your bruises with the game when you sign up. Last time i checked it's never been a tag football league. I did a poll above to see where people's opinions stand on this subject so it should be interesting to see!
