  1. Anyone dumb enough to point a laser at a person to "help their team" will be stupid enough to brag about it on social media. Idiot should be arrested and prosecuted. Despite the lasers and terrible officiating by the zebra's, the good guys still walk away with a win. GO BILLS!
  2. I agree that EJ missed several opportunities to make a play to an open receiver today, but please stop the comparisons to JK. Kelly had an o-line that could block and an o-coordinator that had vision and creativity, which is something that our present QB lacks. Back to the topic brought up by the OP, Watt appeared to me to be going for EJ's knees and I was hoping that at least one of our o-linemen would take exception to this and show a bit of a "nasty streak" in defense of their teammate. I can't stand Watt, yet if he played for the Bills, he would be my favorite player.
  3. I was definitely getting worried! People were salivating and closing in on the stromboli station like zombies from the Walking Dead by 8:05. Thought I was going to be put on a spit and grilled with the fresh fish fan that I brought to the game.....the moonshine was outstanding!
  4. It was great to see everyone and to also meet some new folks as well! I had a great time and many thanks to the organizers for putting this all together. Good thing Mead makes one hell of a stromboli, because there was talk of the stromboli cook being put on the grill with the fish fan. Country - that butter contraption for the corn was killer! All - the food was over the top! Anyone that walked away from the pre and post tailgate hungry has got a serious problem. I hope to catch some of you this weekend back at Hammers. Bringing my youngest son who is my "minnie me" when it comes to football and the Bills!
  5. How do you guys like your fish? I do not believe he is sushi grade, so we should err towards a little extra done on par with his football team on Sunday! I believe Hammer's grill is big enough....
  6. I have Mead's stromboli and tailgate oven and plan to arrive when the lot opens at 6:45. I will have the breakfast stromboli ready to go by 8. I am bringing ropes of sweet and spicy homemade Italian sausage. I'll make up some peppers and onions to go with it. I am looking forward to meeting all of you as I missed last year's festivities. I'll have a fish fan with me, but he is good people and knows football as well as anyone that I know. I have been trying to get him to come over from the dark side, but he is true to his team and I can certainly respect that.
  7. "Anything I can do to help - lemme know." Thanks jboyst for the offer! Should be good to go, but I will certainly take you up on your offer if I get in the weeds. Looking forward to meeting you and picking your brain about your home state. The wife and I are thinking of moving that way a few years down the road.
  8. I got a crash course in the use of the tailgate oven from the Stromboli King yesterday. I will have the breakfast stromboli ready to go at first light!
  9. If I can get a bushel of clams, I will make drunken' clams (clams steamed in Budweiser). If the clams don't pan out, I will bring some homemade Italian sausage, munchies and some assorted dips.
  10. 2 prime for myself and Paul & Lisa (Batavia Party Zone). I am the back up for the Stromboli Man if he cannot make it.
  11. Not quite. Everyone in the military receives a FITREP (fitness report) based upon his/her performance annually and if the Gunny is not successful in turning individuals into team members through BOTH negative and positive reinforcement, this will be reflected on his/her FITREP and he/she will be as you put it "shipped out". My point is that I do not believe that a few windsprints or f-bombs directed at players by a head coach will cause players to "quit on them". Maybe some of Coach Tomlin rubbed off on Marrone while he was in Latrobe. Also, having a GM who comes from an organization that doesn't tolerate BS and expects players to play hard disciplined football certainly factors in. Coach Marrone is passionate about turning this team around and I believe that the majority of the players have bought into this. He leads by example and sets the bar high for his coaches and players alike. Only time will tell if he is successful in this endeavor and speculation to the contrary either way is premature. GO BILLS!
  12. Discipline is the instant, willingness, obedience to orders and RESPECT FOR AUTHORITY....something drilled into my head by a USMC Gunnery Sergeant in AOCS many, many years ago and I still remember it like it was yesterday. NO DISCIPLINE = PAIN (whether it was pushups or mountain climbers in the sandpits or windsprints at football camp). One or two guys f-up and EVERYONE pays. IMHO, whether it's raw recruits or professional football players, a little negative reinforcement never hurt anyone and will have a positive effect on these guys going forward.
  13. So billionaires don't diversify their portfolios in more vanilla investments like government treasuries and bonds or bank related investments. Any sound financial advisor will build a "safety net" around these types of instruments. Your missing the point, which is that the income earned on the investment is only a small part of the equation. You have an intangible asset that provides you a tax shelter. 5% earnings pale in comparison to the writeoff's you gain not only for this asset, but for any other business assets that you own as well.
  14. Good point. The only true appreciable asset is real estate and even then, ask property owners in Florida and California that purchased on the bubble and got stuck with an asset that was worth a fraction of the value when the floor dropped out.
  15. I would take a 5% return all day every day. You will not get anything close to that in government bonds or treasuries and ask your local bank or credit union for a CD that pays 5% and they'll laugh at you. The real beauty with this type of an investment is that even if it loses money, you can write the losses off and thus reduce your taxable exposure. This is huge, especially for the very wealthy.
  16. I think the article is a fair assessment of where we stand. D is solid with question marks on O at QB, RT and TE. As far as EJ is concerned, we need to give him more time to develop. Give him a solid RT and second level TE and let's see what he does.
  17. The Buffalo Bills IN FACT were not the employer as of 1986. The cheerleaders were employed by a sub-contractor for the Bills, Stejon Productions Corp and prior to that, Citadel Communications Co. All parties including the Bills are named in the suit because they contracted Stejon and appeared to have failed to provide the proper due diligence in overseeing the Jills operation (they also have deeper pockets). The Bills lack of direct management and proper due diligence is what I found so hard to believe and was the point I was trying to make in my prior post that you must have missed. Bills were included because of the added publicity garnered by naming an NFL team and the fact that this team is currently in the process of being sold and there can be no outstanding legal entanglements when ownership is transferred. A judge would more than likely dismiss the case against the Bills, but I doubt they would want to take a stand on this in court based on the negative attention and the fact that this would hold up the sale of the team. They will work out a monetary resolution and move on.
  18. Amen! I think this is going to be the year that we get in as a wildcard team and then make a real run the following year. Got my tickets and will be making my hotel reservations next week. Fish fries for the opener!!!!!
  19. Bills did not underpay, it was the contractor they hired that underpaid and I know it's the internet but don't you think your line about "stupid hags" is a little over the top? The contractor responsible for the Jills is shady to say the very least. What I cannot understand is how an organization like the Bills could permit some of the sordid BS described in the article from occurring. There is something in business called "reputation risk" and if you don't always have an even strain not only on your business, but also the subcontractors that represent you directly or indirectly, your setting yourself up for potential $$$ losses or PR headaches. Agree with other posters that they should do away with the cheerleaders and keep their focus on football.
  20. I am definitely in. We normally get together at a hole in the wall in Scotia to watch including Mead, but their food is not very good. Ravenswood has a good menu and their wings aside from 20 North Broadway in Schenectady are some of the best you will find in the CD. I will rally the Scotia Bills Tribe and plan to meet at Ravenswood. Johnny - were you the guy from the Burlington area at the TBD opener a couple years ago?
  21. Thanks for posting and giving us "out of towners" some more insight on the event. Wish I could have attended. Mr. Wilson was class personified and no celebration of his life could have been more appropriate than a tailgate at "The Ralph".
  22. Thinking about Jim Kelly today as he begins his chemo and radiation treatments. Thoughts and prayers to an amazing guy both on and off the football field.
  23. EJ had a terrible game in Pittsburgh, but his receivers didn't do him any favors either. There were several throws that he made that should have been caught. Plenty of blame to go around in that game.
  24. BILLS 45 NE** 31 EJ era begins tomorrow. CJ runs 100+ and scores twice. Our defense goes off on Marcia Brady who throw 3 picks, one for six for the good guys. All this plus home field spells DOOM for Patsies**. I only wish I was going to be there. GO BILLS! The number of beers that I drink is in direct correlation with the number of bloody mary's that I have during the pre-game. The over under on beer would be 5.
