I personally think on most teams Gabbert would be the better quarterback fit, and is most ready to be an NFL quarterback. With that said, the Bills are not "most teams" and with Gailey's history with mobile quarterbacks and the Bills decade plus of porous lines, I think in our case, Newton would be the better fit, because of his size and mobility.

I think if they believed in Fitz as much as they say they wouldn't be taking all these QBs out to dinner and attending their Pro Days. I think they are trying to grease the skids in case they totally screw up the first pick like they did last season, in case they determine we need another running back this year. Fitz was a pleasant surprise last year, but anyone who knows even a slight little bit about football knows he isn't the answer. Actually he did, as he had a career threatening shoulder injury in the Pro Bowl that year, which with that combined with his contract expiring (I believe), was the reason they gave up on him and drafted Rivers.

Forget About a QB this draft and STACK the D
billsfreak replied to LoveTheBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only problem with your theory is a team, regardless of what around him, is not to go succeed without a good quarterback. It is like buying a sweet body of a vintage Ford Mustang but putting a Kia Spectra engine in it, it looks good but won't win any races. -
Not a chance, we need a quarterback every bit as badly as they do.

It doesn't take much to get your trust does it? I am not trusting anyone that took a 6 win team and turned it into a 4 win team. Seems like maybe he is going in the wrong direction.

What is the obsession with taking a QB in the draft?
billsfreak replied to billsfan89's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills have gone so long without a franchise quarterback and a winning team that it is looking like alot of Bills fans have forgotten or never knew what either of the two looked like. -
I am quite sure that Evans caught a few more passes than Nelson or Roosevelt did, and dropped many less than Stone Hands Johnson did. Also, getting open is only half of the reception equation-the quarterback has to throw it to you and half way accurate too. If Chan and Buddy pick anyone at #3 other than a future franchise quarterback, they both will deserve to be working in the UFL with Marty.

UFL lovers...Schottenheimer is back...
billsfreak replied to Buftex's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Living down here in Virginia I will believe it when I see it. This team is now on it's third head coach and they haven't even identified any players much less ever had a game or practice. It wouldn't surprise me if this upcoming season in the UFL doesn't even happen, it appears they owe a bunch of people (including the player's salaries from last season), millions of dollars. Amen! You are not in that boat alone. He still is more proven and would probably do a much better job than quite a few coaches in the NFL right now, including our own Gan Chailey. -
We won't until we get a complete quarterback!

Merriman tweets desire to join WWE

That friggin idiot got hurt 10 minutes into his first practice, he might not survive the WWE. He might break an arm dialing a telephone. -
It doesn't matter what the Bengals want unless they trade up with Carolina or Denver, and as long as our Buddy uses his head and gets us a quarterback, we have our choice before them. I also read that they might be pretty high on Ponder the FSU QB, which most likely would still be available to them in with the second pick in the second round.

Jim Kelly and Dan Marino both scored a 15. Just sayin'.

STEVIE MOTHERF^&*$@#G JOHNSON
billsfreak replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With the way this franchise has drafted for the past dozen seasons, that late season win is looking pretty good right about now. So we could have beaten the team that represented the AFC in the Super Bowl in overtime or had another Aaron Maybin? All depends on how you look at it I guess. -

billsfreak replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That theory is pretty moronic, in that dropping a game winning catch when the team is on some sort of a winning streak after starting 0-8, is a good thing? That catch would have kept building on the momentum and confidence this young team has, and after that drop (easily the worst drop in the NFL this past season), pretty much all of the momentum they were building disappeared. So if that is the best thing, then I guess when he caught those touchdowns and they came back against the Bengals-that was the worst thing that happened to them. Or was it beating the Lions, or the Dolphins? I guess the missed field goal against the Chiefs and the overtime fumble against the Ravens would have to be right up there in your season highlights too? At any level from Pee Wees to the NFL, dropping a game winning touchdown can never be a good thing, no matter what. I can say one thing I like about your post though-your avatar is pretty smoking. -
STEVIE MOTHERF^&*$@#G JOHNSON
billsfreak replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When I met Steve Johnson in training camp his rookie year with his colored dreds, I thought he was a really down to earth guy. Now, the more I see of him and the jerk wad thugs that he assocates himself with, he is destined eventually for some sort of suspension after several fines. It is a shame, he has a load of talent and potential, but he isn't yet as good as he thinks he is. He needs to dip his hands in some glue so he doesn't drop as many passes (he led the AFC tied with Brandon Marshall and one or two others), but his head is getting so big, they might not be able to find a helmet big enough for him. He had one exceptionally great game against the Bengals and his head got so big doing talk shows, interviews, etc., that he forgot how to catch the ball the following week against the Steelers which costs his teammates and the fans a victory. As far as that video, you would have to be at least a few weeks past your own funeral to be able to sit through the whole thing. -
I think his point was that if the Bills want any success defensively in the near future, they should remain with the 4-3, which in my opinion is 100% accurate. They barely have any personnel fitting the 3-4, and are so much closer to having a decent defense with the personnel they have playing in a 4-3. Last season it was more than obvious, not only to John Clayton or myself, but anyone watching, even Bills staff that the 3-4 wasn't working, which was why as the season went on they actually played more schemes resembling the 4-3 than the 3-4. Switching to the 3-4 only delays any success this team might have by a couple more years, and it has been too long since any success has been had here already. Plus, with Dave Wannsted (or however you spell it) here, he has been a 4-3 coach his whole career, so why bring him in and not use his most successful and experienced knowledge area, which is the 4-3.

Steve Johnson says he`s with Fitz 100%
billsfreak replied to PeteBills4ever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
cut and pasted: Brandon Marshall - WR - Dolphins Brandon Marshall tied with Wes Welker, Steve Johnson, and Pierre Garcon for the most drops in the NFL (13) last season -
If he really did foot the bill I bet he used coupons and his senior citizen discount.

I am not dissing Wood, as I like him and hope they keep him at center, but didn't he just play the last couple games there? Where the offense scored a grand total of 10 points?

News Flash Mr. Now It All! There is a big difference between a negative fan and a die hard fan who is tired of the losing, penny pinching, piss poor management, coaching carousel and being part of the longest playoff drought in the NFL. And hey, us unhappy Bills fans still Root for the Bills, as much as you fans with horse blinders on that are satisfied with your team if it is still within 3 touchdowns in the 3rd quarter, so your theory about dividing people up is lame.

Steve Johnson says he`s with Fitz 100%
billsfreak replied to PeteBills4ever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe Stone Hands needs to be out catching a million balls to get his skills better instead of trying to get attention. Didn't he learn anything from last year or is he going to develop into another T.O. and be all about himself? Who do you want him to back? Levi? Brohm is history, and even if they used the #3 pick on a QB, unless something really strange happens, Fitz is going to start the season at #1, so of course he backs him.
