  1. I am not saying there is a Peyton Manning in this year's draft, but if Gabbert and a couple others are mediocre, that isn't saying much for Fitz. There were a few that have the chance or an upside of possibly being a franchise quarterback, nobody sober has ever said that about Fitzy.
  2. You missed the entire point of my post and the one I was replying to.
  3. Well said. There are select individuals on this board that are so clueless, if the Bills traded their entire draft to get J.P. Losman back they would say it was a brilliant move. Your point is 100% accurate, I never once read a post on this board pre draft that anyone thought they needed to address the defensive backfield, now that they have, people on here will say it was brilliant and they knew all along that the Bills were going in that direction.
  4. You must be a relatively new Bills fan, because it was buried before they got here. We are still recovering from the Donahue era, he dismantled a competitive team in no time at all.
  5. Replying to It's pretty embarrassing, reading this board sometimes... It is a board for opinions-and everyone is entitled to their own. Is there someone with a gun to your head making you read it? If I see something I don't want to read I go back to the main menu. It is a free country, thousands have died for the freedom in this country, and millions of others have served proudly to protect our freedom of opinion (20 years myself), so don't get so uptight.
  6. I have been saying the same thing basically on this board for a few years, and whenever I do I get mauled by all these dreamers that claim Ralph is not cheap, he is the greatest owner in the NFL, etc. They could have kept Lynch who was under contract for a few more years with his rookie contract, but instead they wasted the #9 pick last year on a part time scat back at best and another pick this year, instead of just keeping a running back under contract with multiple 1,000 yard seasons under his helmet. Bills fans don't take much to get them excited or hopeful, but the truth is until Ralph is gone, the Bills will never be contenders.
  7. Part desperation and even a bigger part that those teams realize you don't normally win without a franchise quarterback, and you especially don't win with a backup quarterback starting for you. The Bills just haven't figured that out yet.
  8. No I am not upset that they are trying to fix a terrible defense, and as far as the first two picks, Dareus is a great pick and Williams is was also borderline first round talent. The ridiculous reach with the third round pick when Mallet was sitting right there for taking is what makes no sense. And for you info, any pick in the NFL Draft is an assessment, as picks at any draft spot and any position can and have be major busts or major superstars. You are 100% correct in that Fitz is a Stop Gap, which means short term, and with absolutely nobody to step when his short tenure is over. What happens if Fitz has a good year (last year may have been his best, but for conversations sakes), and he goes elsewhere for more money than Cheap Ralphy will pay him? There is no guarantee there will be a franchise tag, and anyone who would pay Fitz that much anyway is crazy. If he leaves then what do we do? Nobody with a brain can say Fitz is the long term answer with a straight face. I like Fitz but lets be a realist, we aren't going to challenge the Pats or Jets in the AFC East with him at the helm. I guess my point is, when you are one of the 3 or 4 worst teams in the NFL, you can't throw away picks just like you can't ignore a hole at the most important position on the team. There is no guarantee on a quarterback in the draft turning into the QB you need, but if you don't take one, you will never know. Kinda like you can't win the lottery if you don't buy a lottery ticket.
  9. and now yours if fixed You should have let Buddy know that last year. Drafting a franchise QB isn't a luxury pick, it is a necessity. Quite simple. They should have taken a QB earlier in the second round, but what can you expect from Buddy Donahue. I wish Buddy and Co. would take notes from Belicheat on how to operate a draft, we might not be a non-contender every year with a draft class that is 80 percent busts like last year.
  10. After a really good day, day two of the draft for the Bills has been more of last years garbage. With Mallet still available in the 3rd round, how do you pass him up? Now when Brady retires we will get our butts kicked by Mallet for a decade plus. Buddy and Co. dropped the ball in day two of the draft. I had very little confidence in our front office going into yesterday, but the pick of Dareus was actually a good pick, but what they gained in my book yesterday, the lost today. I am convinced we will always be a also-ran in the NFL. What happened to Ralph saying they were going to get a franchise QB? Did Buddy give him a pill and send him to bed? So frustrating. Very tired of losing but it isn't going to end anytime soon.
  11. I might be wrong, but didn't they trade Bobby Chandler for Phil Villapiano? He should have had a little memory left back then.
  12. I don't think anyone listens to what Ralph says anymore, and they shouldn't. He doesn't even know what day it is or where he is anymore, all he knows is how much money he has in this bank accounts. Did Denver say they drafted Tebow because he went to dinner with Jim Kelly? I missed that. I seriously doubt a team reached for a quarterback because a retired wide receiver living on the west coast tweeted something about his old team on the east coast. Like they said on ESPN this morning, the Vikings got nervous because QBs were coming off the board earlier than expected with Locker going to the Titans and they reached for Ponder.
  13. It is posts like these that get ridiculed and bashed every day on here. The odds of the Bills ever finding someone who is another Bruce Smith are slim to none, but even that is much more likely than Spiller becoming another Thurman. Thurman was an every down back, Spiller will never, ever be that.
  14. Don't think they will take an ILB at #34 either, Poz will be back. The Bills have made it known they want him and he has made it known he wants to be in Buffalo, it is just a matter of a new CBA getting done.
  15. I agree, Holmgren's weakness in Seattle was as a personnel guy, in fact he removed himself from that position himself. But to get what he got from Atlanta, then move up and get the guy he wanted all along, so far he is the Star of the 2011 draft. I agree that draft grades only hours after the only the first round of the draft are meaningless, and also agree that probably 50% minium of the players taken in the first round will either be busts or marginal NFL players. I really don't think, no matter how great a player turns out that a #3 overall pick can be a "steal" whatsoever. A pick that high should be a superstar, regardless of the situation.
  16. They over reached in the draft for his clone last year with Spiller. Why do you need two specialty backs?
  17. Does that really matter since right now Florence technically isn't even on the Bills roster and is a free agent?
  18. Not a chance in the world I would take that deal. I would take Kaepernick for the Bills first. #34 is too high of a pick to trade for low picks like that and give up the chance to get an elite, first round level talent on a team with so many holes and weaknesses.
  19. I don't think they will, but I would like to see the Bills take Mallet with the #34 pick. You can add as many pieces as you want, but until you get a franchise QB you won't ever be more than just somewhat competitive.
  20. I don't really think they would have. I have felt over the past week or so, the Bills player rankings were the same way they were drafted. 1. Newton 2. Miller 3. Dareus. One of those three obviously were going to be available, so their pick would have been one of the three.
  21. Sounds like you just described Ocho Stinko. The biggest thing on his body is his mouth.
  22. I would love to say you are crazy, because after last season which resulted in promising seasons from a couple young receivers, you wouldn't think anyone with a clue would take a WR and not fill a glaring weakness. But when you consider who is running our draft, and last season our least area of need was RB and what did they do? We all know that disaster named Spiller, so it wouldn't surprise me one bit.
  23. The also have the same last two letters of their first names. Oh oh? I think there is only two situations where the Bills don't take Von Miller. 1. Cam Newton is available. 2. If Denver takes Miller, which is looking more and more possible and likely.
  24. I can see the close captioning on that video feed now - "Duh......."
