would you want carson palmer for a mid round pick?
billsfreak replied to tbonehawaii's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For your info, I "really do like Fitz" but I am not ready to put him on the Wall of Fame like some of you, and am quite confident he will never end up there either. He is an underdog who gives his all every game, plays his heart out and gets the most out of his physical abilities, which is where he is lacking in being a franchise quarterback. For every good play in a clutch situation that Fitz made me made an even worse bad play with a stupid decision on an interception, or just an interception because he over threw it or didn't have the arm to get it there. I have even talked to him at camp a couple years ago and he is a really down to earth guy, but that doesn't translate to winning on the field or me "not really liking him." If you are lucky someday they will make Fathead stickers of him for your bedroom wall then you will never have to leave the house. Big difference between Palmer and Merriman-Palmer has been able to get on the field the last few seasons, not spent three or four straight seasons mainly on the Injured Reserve List. Someone will trade for Palmer if the Bengals decide to trade him, but I am quite sure it won't be Buffalo and it shouldn't be. He is a good fit for a team that is a veteran QB away from being a serious contender, we are 70% of the roster away from being a serious contender. -

Alex Smith, Tim Couch, Vince Young, and several others were first round picks who were benched for lower drafted players, because of playing ability. In fact, Losman was a first round pick, and he was benched for a few different QBs drafted much lower than him, and at least one GM let that happen. I like Fitz, but even though Palmer is not anywhere the QB he was 5 years ago, even today he is better than Fitz, and draft position doesn't have a single thing to do with it. Some people on this board have a serious man crush on Fitz, maybe becuase he is the underdog or likeable, and he is both of those, but he isn't the answer at QB, and probably had his best career season last year. The man crush if blurring their vision of just how good Fitz is, he is a very good career backup at best. Now I am not saying I want Palmer here, what this team needs is a young (rookie) QB with the potential to be the franchise QB we have so lacked for a decade and a half now. You are kidding right? I really like Fitz, but he is nowhere near the QB that Flutie or Bledsoe were when they were here. Wow? -

Probably not. If we were even a decent team, that adding a veteran quarterback might propel us into contention it may be a good idea. We are nowhere close to contending yet, so all bringing someone like Carson in would do is delay grooming a young quarterback to be the future of this franchise (if we ever get one) by the time we are competitive. -
Until they show it on the field, there is nothing to base raising the rankings for the Bills. They won 4 games, may have had a good draft, may not have, only time will tell. All Bills fans are hoping that we got a couple impact players, we hoped that last year too, but how did that turn out. Besides, there can't be fans of too many teams that aren't hoping the same thing. You are going to raise them over a third of the league based on a draft? We still have the same backup quarterback starting for us (with nobody even signed to back him up should he get mauled by a defense running through our weak O-Line), a starting running back who is getting long in the tooth and a second year running back that so far has been a bust. Offensive tackles who would be right at the bottom of the league if one were to rank tackles. Let them prove it on the field, and then people around the country might belive what us Bills fans are hoping for.

Bills have 0 players in top 100 players of 2011
billsfreak replied to dancing_joker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That along with the Giants punter against the Eagles were the biggest blunders of the entire 2010 NFL Season. It actually changed the course of the league, if he catches that, the Steelers are a Wild Card team on the road with, instead they won the division and got a bye in week one. After the Pats got beat, they played at home for the entire playoffs, otherwise they probably aren't in the Super Bowl. You are right, great recievers, even really good receivers don't drop that pass, thrown perfectly, and single handedly cost his team a game. -

Don't get me wrong, I like Fred Jackson, but he has only been a starter for two years, and hasn't even started all the game in those two seasons? Long Time? I think the only one who could possible get any consideration is Kyle Williams, and he is I would think just barely on the outside of the top 100. I like Moorman, but after several really good seasons, he is coming off of an average at best season in 2010. Don't forget this team has sucked for so many seasons, if it were full of top 100 players they would have won more than 4 games. -
Top 10 reasons - What it mean to be a true Bills fan?!
billsfreak replied to Brock's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have to agree. Not saying I haven't had my share of beers, especially spending so much time in foreign ports with the Navy, but never been a fan of drunken idiots at a game or concerts for that matter, kinda takes the fun out what you paid a considerable amount of money to enjoy. There is no written rules for being a fan, in fact some would say that acting mature and representing your team and city in a decent manner would be part of being a fan. -
Rashard Mendenhall loses endorsement deal
billsfreak replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hopefully he loses his job and his source of income, then maybe he won't be able to afford a computer and internet to have a Twitter account. What are you a fan of terrorists or just anti-american. I bet you might have a different opinion if one of your family members were in the WTC or the Pentagon. What a loser. -
Rank the Bills first round picks

If I am not mistaken, Mularkey was in Miami as OC and got demoted before he ended up in Atlanta. -

I don't agree. If Mularkey knew Losman was a "complete waste" as you put it, why did he keep putting him back in, over and over and over? I didn't say Losman was the second coming of Joe Montana, but it there is a slight chance that it might have turned out different if he was handled different, confidence plays a real big part in a young, raw quarterback's success in the NFL. -

Not a bad list. I would have mine as follows: 1. Lee Evans-has been team's best receiver pretty much since he was drafted. 2. Marshawn Lynch-Two 1,000 yard seasons. The most exciting running back this team has had since Thurman retired. 3. Eric Wood-Has potential to be one of the best Guards in the NFL, but too early to put him at #1 on any list, since he has barely played more than one season. 4. Donte Whitner-Burned like toast often, but always on the field and a fierce hitter. 5. Willis McGahee-Couple good seasons. Drops down the list because as a pick, because he couldn't even suit up his rookie year. Also drops down because he is an idiot. 6. Leodis McKelvin-Has had highs and real lows. Good potential. Was a reach in the draft. Will always be remembered in Buffalo for losing the season opener in New England a couple years ago with one of the biggest bonehead plays in Bills history. 7. J. P. Losman-Had all the physical tools. My personel opionion is that Mularkey ruined this guy, yanking him in and out of the lineup after one bad series. 8. John McCargo-Only put him above Mike Williams because he lasted longer in Buffalo and was not drafted anywhere near as high as the #4 pick overall. 9. Mike Williams-No need to explain. 10. Aaron Maybin-A high first round pick and even gets beat out on special teams. Two years in the NFL and still does not have a sack? Total bust. I ranked these on their value as draft picks, since that is what the post is about. Just look at this list though, is it any wonder this team has sucked for so long? -
How in the name of God does Phil Hansen...
billsfreak replied to metzelaars_lives's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think alot of people are taking this too seriously, the order they go up isn't all that important, and everyone who has followed the Bills knows that Ralph holds grudges against alot of people, and it is my guess that the personality and professionalism of a player is just as important to him as what they did on the field. I mean, as great as Steve Tasker was, and he deserves to be on the Wall of Fame, he did go up before Bruce Smith did, so the order they go in, doesn't mean alot to old Ralphy. If it is up to Ralphy, expect some weird selections for the time he has left, as I would guess he has to put names in a hat, since his memory is long since disappeared. -
Losman is a better option than Brohm. Not a big fan of Thigpen, and seems like I read somewhere that Miami wanted to keep him. We can do much better than Brohm #2 (Thigpen).

I am a new fan of Champion products. As a true blooded American and a 20 year veteran of the Navy, if it were up to me, he would lose more than an endorsement deal and a few bucks. What a Moron! -

Are you serious? Telling me not to make it a race issue? Who is the one who started this thread as a race issue? Oh yeah, you were! I was disputing your opinion that it was a race issue, now you are telling me not to make it a race issue? They might not be racist (and they might be?), but you have some real issues without a doubt. -

No, YOU could bring up the race card on this one. Ralph is so old he doesn't even know the difference between races these days. Ralph might be the cheapest most worthless owner in the NFL, but racist? By my count, 4 of the last 5 and 5 of the last 7 players put on the Wall of Fame were African Americans. Anyone is entitled to their own opinions about anything, but you just sound stupid if anything else by bringing race into it. I am not saying Biscuit wasn't an awesome player, but Hanson might just be the second most underrated player the Bills have had (next to Talley)since the early 80's. He wasn't going to make a Pro Bowl with Bruce Smith on the other side getting all the media attention, how many times has a pair of defensive ends made the Pro Bowl, my guess is not often if ever. -
Toronto to make a pitch for a NFL team
billsfreak replied to Scrappy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not sure it will happen, they have trouble selling tickets for one regular season game a year. In addition to that, the owners of the teams in the CFL tried to fight the Bills playing one game a year there, so adding an NFL team full time might off the most popular team in that league. -
Any other owner would have fired him 4-5 years ago, at least, but not Ralphy. Another example of how poorly the entire franchise has been run.
-
Even if Schobel did come out of retirement, he most likely wouldn't play for the Bills. The Bills released him last season, so he is a free agent and has stressed that if he did play again he wanted to play closer to home-in other words if he plays, it will most likely be for the Texans.

Never happen. Hasselbeck isn't going anywhere to be a backup, especially when he is better than Fitz. Makes no sense. Anyone that brings in Hasselbeck has to consider themselves just a QB shy of being a contender (we are far from that).
