Just read that he hyperextended the same knee that caused him to miss his entire rookie season. I sure hope not, but starting to look like this kid might be one of the many that come into the league with so much promise but can't stay healthy enough to accomplish much.

From what I have read, signing Moore doesn't preclude Miami from still getting Orton as the starter. I mean they gave Moore $2.5 million a year, for two years, that is pretty low for backup money much less the starter. They didn't give him any starting guarantee either. They will but what even sucks more is that they will STILL be much better than we are. At least they are doing things to improve other than undrafted rookies like we are.

Bills sitting on their hands in Free Agency!!!!
billsfreak replied to Rob T from OP's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't have much faith in this front office, and even if I did, Ralphy has a tight fist around his wallet anyway. After so many years of losing, and being known as one of the tightest and worst franchises in the NFL, alot of top level talent doesn't want to come here. Sure most of them want the money first, but they do want a chance to win along with the money, which almost any other team in the league gives them a better chance to win than Buffalo does. For the FO to come out and say they are going to build pretty much entirely by the draft, that is a way of saying things around here aren't going to change, because you can't build entirely by the draft and undrafted free agents. Afterall, look how great last years draft turned out-Spiller was the entire drafts biggest disappointment. Most likely the most productive pick last year was Arthur Moats, who at this point of his career is more of a Trivia Question answer than a promising star. The only people they bring in for the most part that arent rookies or players that nobody else wants are people who have a connection to Buddy or Chan. Gonna be another long string of seasons, until this group is fired just like that last 3 or 4 and the "rebuilding" starts all over again. Until Ralph is gone as owner, he will never hire a real front office again (he got lucky with Polian who was a no-name at the time), or top level coaching staff, so things won't change. You know I have read in a few places and whole heartedly agree, that Smith is a very nice player, a good weapon and gives a team alot of flexibility. But-he is better suited to be a luxury player on a good team not a building block on a bad team like the Bills. Not surprising though, just look at the first round pick last year, a running back, when we had two 1,000 yard rushers on the roster and more holes on the team then swiss cheese. -
Bills fan response chart to free agency

So are you done with this team? -
I think he is like 36 years old, by the time we get a decent offense around him he will be 45. A stopgap is a great idea for a contending team, as bad as we are, you might as well try to develop someone young that will be there when you are ready to contend (fingers crossed it happens in our lifetimes). O.J.

So you want us to have to watch Fitzy for 3 or 4 more years? By then a young rookies contract would be at the point where the Bills need to decide if they are going to pick up the fifth year of the contract (have to do it after the 3rd season) and if so pay him in something like the top 10% of the league at that position. Don't think that would work, but the rest of your post is pretty sensible.

Unlike some people on here, I wouldn't instruct someone on here to do anything, get over yourself. -
Good, that should leave one pick left unsigned if I am correct. At least that is one thing that is much better with the new CBA, there is no reason for these rookies to hold out, their contracts are pretty much already established.

Can he play RT or Linebacker? I think the poster you were replying to was speaking Ralph English, Wilson is "Much Better" then Whitner because he is "Much Cheaper."

You will have half a dozen or more people on this board criticize you for this post, but those are just the people who are so brainwashed by Ralph and his losing ways to see the truth. Your post is 100% accurate, and you could cut and paste it for the past 10 years and probably the next 10 years, just change the year and the names of the players and it will still be accurate. You always have some clueless idiots who say "Go cheer for a different team" or "don't watch then", etc., but if you really care about something (like the Bills) and aren't just some wide eyed moron who falls for "at least he kept them in Buffalo" year after year, you do get frustrated. Kinda like if you have a kid in school who fails year after year, are you supposed to quit caring about him or her? Or should you be frustrated and B word until the situation is corrected. Any intelligent person would pick the later, if not I hope you never have kids. -
You are correct, What's Done is Done-the problem with the Bills is they never get the guy they want, always get used as leverage against another team to raise the price of a contract, and us Bills fans always have to say "What's Done is Done." Please don't take it personal, but fans like yourself, who are satisfied with what is on a good day mediocrity, give Ralph no sense of urgency to improve the product on the field or in the front office. On gameday, we are all Bills fans and cheer for what we have, but to be giddy and happy about what the Bills "don't" do during the off season and try to make every move they make (like signing a QB with a career 1-11 record) seem like they just landed Joe Montana in his prime, along with the poor management, poor drafting, lack of free agent signings, etc., sends Ralph a message that what he is putting out there for the NFL's most loyal fanbase is good enough.
-
That can be said for any really good free agent, they are going to have to wow him to get him to come to Buffalo. So why didn't they wow him? They certainly have the cap space, or are they going to spend it on another part time player, instead of one of the most vital positions on the team.

Bills interested in OT Tyson Clabo

Does there have to be a link for everything? What the heck did people like you do before internet? If you have been a Bills for more than 20 minutes or haven't been in a coma for the past decade you would know what I was talking about. You would sooner see them sign Ralph himself to a 1 year $39 million contract to meet the minimum then put him and his oxygen on the bench. -
I agree in both statements. Ocho is another disgruntled Bengal who Belicheat brings in, just like Corey Dillon and will get some really good years and probably another Lombardi Trophy. As far as the Bills, they have signed a backup quarterback with a 1-11 career record and a part time wide receiver/special teams player, who should be more of a luxury for a good team, not a key piece of a bad team like Buffalo. They are slipping farther and farther into last place in the AFC East, with the other teams getting better (not like NE and NYJ had to get better to be way ahead of us).

Sometimes I wonder if the Bills don't make these lowball offers just to appease the Bills fanbase, so they can say we tried to sign this player or that player but they didn't want to come here. Maybe all along they don't want to sign/pay most of these "real" talents, but they want it to look like they do. -

Just another in the long line of free agents who use the Bills like a step brother just to drive the price up for the team that signs him. He along with many others over the past decade had no thought on actually playing in Buffalo. Until this franchise is no longer a joke it will never stop either. -
Brad Smith...Update...signs with Buffalo
billsfreak replied to Mike In Illinois's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He is an exciting player no doubt, but with all the other holes, does this make sense. We already have Spiller and Parrish. -
The Jets have quite a few FA's they were in the last couple AFC Championship games. The Saints had alot of FA's when they won the Super Bowl. You could name successful teams all day that signed FA's, but the truth is, a team has to use all avenues of signing key players to be a winning team. You can't build with just the draft like Buddy said they are going to-that is just an excuse to not spend money.

What has the switch to the 3-4 gotten us?
billsfreak replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with every point of yours. It seems like they aren't sure what they want to do, or if they know what they are doing. They claim this big move to the 3-4, it sucked last year, now they bring in Wanstadt who has coached the 4-3 his whole career? Alot of moves this current regime makes really are head scratchers and on the surface at least, don't make much sense. -
I doubt he will be here either, at best on the practice squad. I don't even think the Steelers had Bettis then, wasn't Barry Foster or Bam (the Jailbird) Morris the running back when they had "Slash"?
-
More than likely a body for camp, with the hope of finding a needle in a haystack. They need to sign something like 28 players in just a couple days to reach 90 for camp, so there will be some players brought in like this with little or no chance of sticking around.
-
And one with a career record of 1-11 as a starter to boot! Go Bills! Hey Buddy clear off your shelf for that Executive of the Year trophy this year! I would feel more secure if Fitz was the backup.
