Another board says Coles signed by Bills
billsfreak replied to DIE HARD 1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is the Buffalo way, remember DJs extension? It was a secret almost all season. Plus, if it is actually true that he is going to sign, maybe the FO can't believe he wants to come here either, so they want him to actually sign the contract prior to saying anything. Besides, if they put it out and he changed his mind before signing, this board would go beserk and blame the Bills for putting it out. -

Before anyone gets violent, I messed up, it is actually Profootballtalk.com that has this article. I thought they were more reliable than that. Sorry !@#$? -

Did you notice that that website also has an article posted on 2 March that Marquis Cooper was found alive? As of the news last night, they called off the search for him and two other men. Can't be too reliable of a source. -
J.P. did not play well for the majority of his 5 years here for sure, but he did at times when he was comfortably the #1 QB a few years ago. I believe he wasn't handled well by this organization from the get-go. He has all the physical talent in the world, and could and probably will become at least a serviceable NFL QB somewhere. The Mularkey regime may have ruined him as far as Buffalo is concerned, yanking him in and out of the starting lineup based on on quarter or half of a game. Anyone who thought that Kelly Holcomb was the answer for the team then is as clueless as the Bills Front Office trying to trade Dockery to Detroit. That is not how you prep a young QB for your team, and can do nothing positive for his confidence. There was no way for him or the organization that he could stay here, too many bridges were burned. He was the first QB the Bills have had since Kelly that actually took to the city of Buffalo and didn't want to leave as soon as the final whistle blew. I know that doesn't help on the field, but as least it showed that he wanted to be here and to be successful here. I am glad he is gone because it wasn't ever going to work here, but I will be watching and hoping he does well somewhere else. The first time he plays against the Bills, don't be surprised if the outcome is positive for the Buffalo faithful.

If they sign Coles and June and that is a huge "IF", it will be a very good start to the offseason. If fills a few of the holes on a team that has more holes than Swiss Cheese. I think June would be an upgrade to Crowell/Ellison by far and Coles would be an upgrade to anyone we have had as a #2 WR since Peerless Price's first tour here opposite Moulds.

The odds are that Hardy is not going to contribute this year much if at all with the serious knee injury he had. Even if he does, he didn't progress much last year, and at WR it is one of if not the toughest position to adjust to the NFL from college. That is a big factor in why the Bills have been struggling over that last decade or so, they have been relying on too many players with potential and promise and not enough of experience and proven ability. I think this team really needs a Coles or a similar receiver, and if and when they get him, Evans numbers will drastically increase, and if all stays healthy, Evans will probably be a Pro Bowler.

For all of you who want Jason Peters RESIGNED

Hold your breath on that one, you might look like Barney by the time he gets to the HOF. -

billsfreak replied to Poeticlaw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually yea it does. Alot of people think he held out of the pro bowl for the same reasons he hasn't finished seasons lately, so an injury doesn't affect his hold out or new contract that he is whining for. -
I am glad they are doing something, but why do they end of always signing the bottom of the barrel players, i.e. Fitzpatrick, and now Florence. I pasted this from rotoworld: Profootballtalk.com reports that the Bills have signed free agent CB Drayton Florence to a two-year contract. This will throw a wrench into San Diego's Antonio Cromartie trade plan. Florence was a huge bust in Jacksonville last year, losing his starting job to Brian Williams. The Bills, if they're smart, will not be starting Florence.

He has all the talent in the world, but can't stay healthy. That isn't even the problem in drafting him. He is a problem child, much like Lynch. I followed his career from High School here in Virginia Beach (where he was suspended during high school for pushing a referee and almost cost his team a chance to play in the playoffs), and his injury riddled career at Florida state, however short it has been. It looks good on paper, but be careful what you wish for.

My guess is alot of the same people who are screaming for the Bills to sign free agents are the same people who want to give Peters $12 million per year-folks, we will be lucky if either happens much less both. -

I think you need to check your figures, I don't think Jason Peters played in 2 Pro Bowls, in fact he didn't even go to Hawaii last month. -

If this is in fact true, no it can't be true. C'mon is this April 1st already? How do you even ask that the Left Tackle that led the entire NFL in sacks allowed be paid the highest? That is like Losman telling the Jets or someone he wants to be paid as the highest QB in the league. I say F-Him and leave his contract the way it is. Either he shows up or he doesn't play for a couple more years. His contract now is what, only 2 years old? He is starting to sound like a fat Chad Johnson. -
How about T.J. Houshmandzadeh or Coles?

If you can't laugh at life's most pathetic things (the state of the Bills) than you aren't enjoying life. Be realistic, and have a sense of humor, after all I am finding a good sense of humor is a necessity of being a life long Bills fan, and the way they are being ran is nothing short of a joke. -
According to ESPN radio this morning...

Why? Marshall is a couple more strikes into being banished than Lynch is. Lynch is probably going to be suspended 2-4 games this year, Marshall probably 8-16 games. -

WHY ARE THE BILLS SO DAMN CHEAP!!!
billsfreak replied to mmassett228's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Those teams did not build entirely on the draft. How about Larry Izzo, David Patten, A. Vinatieri, Joe Andruzzi, Christian Fauria, Je'rod Cherry, Randall Gay, Roman Phifer, Mike Vrabel, Antwain Smith, Corey Dillon, Rodney Harrion are just a few of the players that contributed on Super Bowl winning teams for the Pats. You also have Randy Moss, Wes Welker, Junior Seau, Jabar Gaffney, Lamont Jordan, Sam Aiken and several other who they didn't draft and played for them in 2008 when they won 11 games. How about Plaxico Burress, Kavika Mitchell, Eli Manning, Derrick Ward, Antonio Pierce, Ruben Droughns, Sam Madison, R.W. McQuarters, Jeff Feagles, Shaun O'Hara were a few of the players that the Giants did not draft but started for them in 2007 when they won the Super Bowl. Not going to get into the Colts and Steelers, as the result will be the same. My point is no team can win just using draft picks. This issue should be dead, as these are facts not opinions as is yours. -
I am glad he doesn't post on these boards. Around here if you post the obvious and it is negative, you get criticism from a bunch of dreamers that want to believe all is rosey at OBD. Real fans don't talk negative about their team, well apparently real fans are blind too.

Ralph is Cheap! He cares more about money than winning. It is a true shame, because he wasn't always like this, just the last decade or so. It is getting pathetic. -
You are exactly right.

The Jets game didn't help either. I do think he will get a job though, and something tells me he still might end up with the Jets.

Word is here in "Redskin Territory" is they had to get rid of him to fit Deangelo Hall's contract under the cap. Me personally would rather have Taylor than Hall, but Daniel Snyder runs that team, and as long as he does, he will be a big spending, big dreaming, small results team owner. I would like to see Taylor in Buffalo, but we already have way too much money invested in average DE's, and with the exception of a healthy Schobel, below average.

I think we do need another reciever, just not another rookie receiver, we have enough receivers who may develop, have potential, etc. We need someone to come in who has experience and can produce immediately. Receiver is one of the, if not the toughest (along with CB) to adjust to the NFL from college, so drafting a WR is never close to a guarantee.
