You are Bill Cowher. You've had successful (very successful drafts in your past coaching career with the Steelers) without selling the farm to trade up. You've done a great job in the past with the picks you were given. You never before traded your farm for such a trade up as you are now proposing. You stayed put with the picks you had and went to the Super Bowl. Now you are trying to veer away from a proven way of building a solid team. You are throwing away your team building principles. Please Bill Cowher, remember what worked for you before. Multiple intelligent well thought out picks. Not one pick that may or may not work out. Even if Suh did turn out to be a beast like Bruce, he would line up at the LOS, he would look to his left, then to his right, and to his horror he would see a void, a black hole, several holes. All the picks that we had given up for Suh would be on other teams, and we would be missing all the picks we coulda, shoulda, woulda had of new blood to help our Bills. But yes, we still have our Suh. Our beloved Suh. He will sack qb's, stop the run, cover wide receivers, play special teams, throw the ball for td's, run for many tds in his career, and more. He will have so much to do to make up for all the lost picks we would have had. By the time we get a first or 2nd round pick again, his career will be half over. (i'm exaggerating of course) So, please Bill Cowher, remember with all your might how you built the Super Bowl Steelers. Please don't veer away from what works. (It's Friday, i've had several beers as i'm sure a lot of you all have. My post is half in counter and half as jest. But seriously. Do what works. Don't sell the farm for one guy. I was content, happy even, sitting on my couch with my beer watching the opening ceremony to the Winter Olympics. Then I see this post on my cell. I had to reply) I do not agree with you on your post Bill Cowher. But I am glad you are a fanatical Bills fan. For that I cannot be upset. Go Bills!!

Who is the GREATEST Bill of All-Time ??
Pilsner replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bob Knight. Nice. Jim Kelly does evoke the best of the Bills past. (well in my opinion, but that is up for debate still in my mind. Thurman, Andre, Tasker, Bruce...ect... Hull, Ritcher, Wolford, Beebe, Ballard, Bennet, Talley, ect...i could go on and on... I have to admit i'm quite a bit buzzed. I'm sure some people on here post buzzed too but i admit it. Your Bob Knight icon caught my attention tho cause i worked with his son (on his show) for quite a while. i'm still good friends with him. Please excuse me for my lack of puncuation and for proper spelling and such. a bit buzzed. anyhoo, In many ways i wish i had been a Bills fan longer than i have been (been a hard core Bills fan since 1988). I have read thru the posts from many of you long timers for quite some time. I haven't posted much. But i wish i had seen the games you had seen in their hayday previous to their 4 Superbowl appearances. I still think i am the ONLY hard core Bufallo Bills fan in San Luis Obispo, California. I've seen 3 others in this fine college town. But I think i'm the only one standing from what i've experienced. And I will continue to stand. This is such a buzzed post. Well take it for what it's worth. And if it's not worth your time then no need to reply. Hard Core Bills fans reside from all corners of this Earth. Go Bills!!!!! -
Who's the best choice for a new HC?
Pilsner replied to irishman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I second that. It's amazing what he's done with San Diego State and now with Stanford in such a short amount of time. -
Thurman Thomas disrespected by two current players

Wouldn't it be nice if during the press conference, someone asked Jauron "If after so many games, so many chances, you can't fix this, wouldn't it be the best course of action to find someone who can?" *hint hint, resign* Of course any question like this would ban the reporter for life. But wouldn't it be worth it. Very loyal, and Very Frustrated Bills fan! Go Bills!!!

How can an NLF lineman who gets paid so much money say this or even have this attitude in a game and then be able to look his qb in the eyes. (any qb in general) Absolutely awful attitude. I'd bench him for that. But then there might be more to this with the overall attitude of the team that i'm not totally aware of. *shakes my head* Go Bills!!!

Latest TO 'Tweet" i smell a controversy
Pilsner replied to The Poojer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think you started this thread cuz it's a slow day here. I can't give you a hard time. You got me to reply, along with a few others. Most of the regulars are probably in Miami right now. Go Bills!! -
Doesn't it seem like our tight ends are like mermaids?
Pilsner replied to realtruelove's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All Pete Metzelaars had to do was simply grin at the defense a certain way and they would be smart enough to let him have the first down. He was that tough. Maybe even Chuck Norris's equal. perhaps. it's debatable. but close. -

He's prolly only giving Josh Reed a hard time. It's no big deal. Just some fun between teammates/friends. No need for anyone to get all hot and bothered about it. ;p -
Pennington doubtful for week 4!!!
Pilsner replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Henne is less experienced but he's better with the long ball. We need to better watch Ted Ginn now. Henne is prolly their future. We should win this game tho. If we don't. I will drown myself in....well something... -
Johnson would be awesome to see on the field. How about we see Nelson split out and we see him and Johnson do some crossing patterns since Lee and TO seem to be stuck going deep. When we get Hardy back maybe we can see him and Nelson do their crossing patterns (you can't miss these giraffes) I'm just kidding around. But it can't be any worse than sending Roscoe out for a 4 yard gain each time. ughies.
-
True that could have happened. But Percentage-wise going for it gave us the higher probability of success. I don't have any links to back this up. I only have game watching experience to back it up. I've seen a lot of games, as i'm sure u have too. And i've been in games where i've seen this situation come up and punting has never ceased to give me nightmares cause of it.

who is rooting for TO to blow up?
Pilsner replied to drinkTHEkoolaid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I never thought i would ever say this...but....or express this.... *puts hand up in the air* (my only consideration for player breach of team etiquette at this time) -
Not plenty of time because the Saints were moving the ball on us. AND our offense was struggling. By the time we got the ball back (either by punt return or after NO scored, we would have much less time to come back). If NO had no offense, and our D was NOT tired, then we might have time. Consider all the factors besides just time left on the clock. There are many things to consider.
-
NO offense would have milked down the clock. Even if we got the ball back, we wouldn't have enough time to score enough points to win. It's a game of calculated risks and percentages. Our best bet percentage-wise was to go for it.
-
If 4th and 1 failed, it would still be the right call. Cause any other call would have been putting up the white flag. At least if we went for it we would know our HC had balls and our O would have rallied behind him if we made it or not. At least we would have tried.
-
I respectfully disagree. It was the wrong call. Punting is appropriate on some occasions. But due to the facts that we didn't have much time left on the clock And NO's Offense being able to move the ball, it was not an advisable call to punt. NO would have milked the clock while they moved down the field on our TIRED worn out defense. Our D showed their courage but they were well worn out by this point. If we had more time on the clock then yes, punting might have been ok. But considering all the factors, no, wrong choice in my opinion. I cannot express this point enough. I've seen it first hand...and i've seen it too many times in games.

Everyone always thrashes on the French. And yes they have folded their tent a lot in the past. But if it wasn't for them, we wouldn't have our independence from the British.
-
I totally agree with you on most of your points. He does come up with good game plans for the most part but he's definitely not able to make changes on the fly. He's too conservative. He's not able to adapt within the game. Well at least not able to adapt fast enough to the changing in game situations.
-
That's harsh. lol. Never heard that one before.
-
I think today's call might have been the final straw too. I hope he proves me wrong this season. But we'll see. I really do hope he proves me wrong.

Putting AVP in as OC is the biggest factor. And also intangibles shown by how the players have acted and played during the first two games. I'm not privy to what exactly he's done, but he did something right. Our players played quite well during the first two games. (with the exception of McKelvin's fumble). I never said he coached the team "great". I said he coached the team a lot better than in the past. Which i think he did. But today he showed his flaws in the most dramatic way. An obvious blunder in huge proportions. I hope you're not trying to be nit-picky. I'm just trying to be constructive in dialog. We can agree to disagree.
-
I think so too. This was a harder loss than at NE. At NE we tried our best. Here against NO, our HC just gave up. Very demoralizing.
-
He put AVP in position to be the OC.
