Thanks for the Link SJ, reading it now.

I envy the fact that u got such a good close look at practice. Thank u for the update. I'm hoping Bell does well because he might be our number 3 depending on what goes on with Marshawn. Also let's hope Easley keeps up the good work at catching everything thrown his way.

Awesome Nader. Great to get some insight like this

I Really hope Coleman pans out as well. It's just my wild guess but I'm thinking Torbor was signed because the Bills have a slight hint that maybe Schoebel might not return. Only time will tell.

Back in the early 90's my brother was a QA tester at EA for Madden. It was made for the Sega Genesis in those days. One or two of the programmers back then were huge Giants fans and they adjusted some of the Giants' players ratings a bit high due to them being biased. Things were so lax back then that my bro actually was able to "fix" that and make those particular ratings a bit unbiased. Who knows if they really had a good way of accurately rating players back then. I doubt it. Who knows if they have an accurate way of rating players right now. I'm sure a bit of bias still sneaks into the rating system. We just don't have enough Bill's fans as programmers at EA. That's my take on it

LT Wang carted off after hurting left leg

LOL! Just maybe. It's worth a try. Can't possibly hurt. -
Haha, ya it'll be close but u might be right about this.

RIP Mr. Jones.

ok I take my last statement back. I suppose it depends on what your definition is of a "franchise qb"
-
Drew Brees was not a first round draft pick. He was a 2nd if i recall. And Joe Montana... a 3rd. i could be wrong. If i'm correct tho, then they were not drafted as initial franchise qb's in the first round.
-
I want us to get our franchise qb. As always, there's never a guarantee with any new draftee. I don't want us mortgaging the future for a potential one tho. Perhaps a 1st and 2nd. Hopefully not too much more. Then we pray our investment pans out and doesn't make us look stupid. If we can get our next Jim Kelly only with a 1st round pick and no more, i will run up and down my street screaming my head off. I don't care what my neighbors will think. Who knows tho, we might hit the jackpot with a lower round qb. It's been done before. Well by other teams.
-
I'm down for us doing what it takes to get our franchise qb in the draft next year. But only if our FO (and i mean Nix, Whaley and Gailey) thinks there is one available to go after who they think can excel with their offensive scheme. Only if there is one available next year. Otherwise, have another solid (in my opinion) draft like we just had. Gailey should be able to make at least one of our current qb's overachieve. I HOPE. Go Bills!!

This is seriously the best thread I've seen on in weeks

CJ Spiller to get about 12 carries per game
Pilsner replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's fast, quick, agile, can turn on a dime, reads blocks well, can line up wide and makes catches that remind me of Thurman. He's also a very hard worker. He lacks experience with blocking, but that xp will come in time. With his worth ethic i'm sure he'll be willing to learn it. So you're not too worried about his size. If not that, then what are your concerns about his skill set? -

There's a lot more to a good football player than just physical ability. At least there should be. So many people are into height, weight, speed, number of tackles made, yards, catches made ect... That is all fine and dandy. I want players on our team that are good at accumulating all that too. Who doesn't? But we also need people who are team players, who collectively know their roles and are "interchangeable" in some ways as you pointed out, as the need arises. We can gather all the talent in the world as other teams have in the past (Snyder's spending spree's on the Redskins) but if we don't gather the right personality types that know how to work together then it is for naught. We Need men of character, drive, perseverance, team players who will not make a big fuss over playing time. We need players who want to be on the field no matter what, but who also know when to not throw a hissy fit if they don't get their time on the field. Team players with the will to succeed and who will fight for their fellow players. And who give a frickin F*@k for the fans. I'm so so glad we drafted players with character this year. I don't think we short changed ourselves in physical talent either. Only time will tell. This is the kind of real long term foundation that a successful team is built upon. I hope we continue to draft in this mold. Talent and Character. In the end, true character never loses. Go Bills!! -

I'm really excited about Spiller too. In a year or two after our O-line improves thru experience and players added i'm really curious what kind of damage Spiller can produce. Hopefully mind-numbing scary type stuff. Wow it's very impressive he got a 6.4 yards per carry average in the SEC against such good competition. That opened my eyes for sure. I really thought Best would get drafted in the 2nd. He might show flashes in some games but as another poster said, he's only "another concussion" away from being a bad draft pick. I could be wrong, but i'de be very concerned about that. I didn't know anything about Ryan Mathews, and Fresno State is only 2 hours drive away. The one year i decide to not watch a Fresno State game and I don't notice they have an NFL caliber running back. So obviously that pick came out of nowhere in my mind. Hopefully for SD he pans out cause he idolizes LT. So i'm sure he's happy going there. -

Good thoughtful balanced post. It was nice to look at and compare the stats between Spiller, Best and McCluster. Personally i'm glad we didn't pick up Best due to his concussion issue. I don't know much about McCluster but he might actually be lighter than Roscoe. We have a fly-weight already so i'de pass on McCluster. My opinion here doesn't really matter though. What matters in this thread are the reasons the Bills picked Spiller and why they didn't pick Best or McCluster. We have their stats that you provided, but what we don't know is how the interviews went with Best and McCluster and what their personalities are like. What is their work ethic like? Are they leaders in the locker room? Do they have the drive to motivate themselves and to motivate others? What kind of role model will they provide to the next crop of draftees in future drafts? Their stats show they have been able to consistently produce on the college level. But what else can they provide that is essential to building a solid cohesive team? Only the Bills management knows their perception on this. Also, this may not mean much, but Marshawn was the previous starter at Cal before Best. Maybe it's unfair to Best, but perhaps Marshawn's awesome attitude tainted Best's draft value. Best got drafted in the first round, so maybe not. Good post tho San Jose. Gives us something to debate in a civil thoughtful way. Go Bills!! -
Lonnie Harvey...surprise anchor!??????
Pilsner replied to loyalbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
wow this dude can really move for a 347 lbs man. Now if he has the drive and awareness for the game then i'm glad he's getting a chance. I'm wondering why he didn't get drafted. Slipped under the radar? played for a smaller school and therefore other teams didn't scout him well enough or maybe thought he didn't go against big enough competition? If this behemoth pans out it would be a nice addition. -
I like his athleticism and especially "he finishes blocks." I want all our OL to finish blocks every single time. I want them to be road graders and open holes wide enough for a Jill cheerleader to run thru without being touched. I want our OL to scare the living daylights out of any front 7 we go up against. I want the Bills to only get players with never die attitudes. No softies.

Chris Berman's vote thru me thru a loop for sure. I'de like to know his reasoning for his vote. I'm curious how he would state it.
-
Seems to be a good point.
-
Geez, everyone just get off of JW's case will you?? John and the AP weren't responsible for the outcome of the vote. How much clearer can this be? The sun and the moon must be aligned just right today because too many people seem to be in an arguementative mood. We and Byrd all know he deserved more votes than he got. He got stiffed and it sucks. What's more important for the Bills is that he makes an even bigger impact this coming season. Award or no award, we seem to have a really good player in him. Go Bills!!
