  1. This sounds eerily like the Jauron/Trent Edwards offense. Except our O-line and quarterback are better now. Playcalling is too but successful execution gets back to a better O-line and qb.
  2. Agree with you, if Kyle can't go this coming Sunday it'll be good to see how Dareus does against the Jets OL.
  3. Definitely an interesting article, particularly that the Bills seem so interested in tying up a long term lease deal quickly. Also that Mr. Wilson and the Bills are actively doing PR for it. Definitely a QTIP sounds like a great fit for this situation. It was also interesting that we just signed our franchise QB without appearance or comment from Mr. Wilson (though I do expect him to issue some kind of statement). I do believe plans are being made to keep the Bills here and assuming the new lease helps those plans I hope the state and county move quickly when the Bills are ready.
  4. Kind of makes you want to trust our coach's and GM's opinion doesn't it?
  5. Spewing what crap? Do not be so ignorant as to throw me in with the "Ralph is cheap" shills, that's just as bad as they are. Ralph spent the money to keep our superbowl teams together, he spent money on Dockery, Walker during the Marv return, he spent money on Kelsay, Evans as of recently so I know he's willing to spend money, even if it's ill advised. He also is very generous with his charitable contributions. You want to know one person they didn't spend money on? Jason Peters. What about Pat Williams? I think Ralph is an old-school conservative businessman and I respect him for it. He most certainly has bean counters trying to minimize costs (including contract costs) and maximize return on his investment and in this economy with the buffalo market I don't blame him one bit for doing it. To me he's willing to spend money, but he's less willing to do it if Littman or any other bean counter is adamantly telling Ralph the player isn't worth it, can't afford it, etc. Right now, I think we've got a good coach and a good core of young players coming together. Management/Ralph needed to send a message and commit some money to these guys. The first thing we hear is that they put off Stevie Johnson's talks for Fitz. Now today we see the first true sign that management is serious about keeping this team together moving forward. It's a big positive for me, and that's all my post was referring to.
  6. Congrats Fitz ('bout time FO!)and let's hope Stevie and Fred's new contracts are soon to follow. For the first time in a long time this team feels like it's finally building towards something positive with great leadership on offense and a good locker room. I was afraid our bean counters would screw it all up but this goes a long way to reassure me that this organization is serious about building a playoff quality team. Go Bills.
  7. that certainly sounds possible, I was wondering if he had a bad/slow responding case of plantar fasciitis? It can get pretty painful and they recommend immobilization in that event. Also seems like surgery is not that much an option and they thought he wouldn't be out too long, which makes me wonder about fasciitis.
  8. Good list, I'm guessing they have someone in mind with Merriman to IR, let's see if they made your list.
  9. Sucks, but now it's even more obvious we need an impact linebacker in the draft.
  10. I can't disagree with your opinion of George Edwards and our current defense but it is mostly irrelevant to Maybin's situation. Maybin was drafted and played under the previous coaching staff as well with similar results. The biggest part of the problem is that we drafted him way too high and payed him too much money to give him the role of a situational pass rusher. The other part of the problem, IMO, is that Maybin thought way too much of himself and wasn't very coachable. When referring to Maybin, Gailey generally acknowledged he was a hard worker but wasn't doing the things the coaches wanted him to do. Jets picked him up, cut him, then brought him back and made it real simple: situational pass rusher with a minimal paycheck. Maybin, to his credit, has responded well. To those who say the SD sack was just a coverage sack, I have to disagree. The outlet running back was wide open while Rivers was being sacked but Rivers didn't have the time to put the ball out there because of Maybin's speed. Long story short I have to agree that it's just one of those things.
  11. Excellent post and I think the fact the jets also cut him previously seems lost on the folks who are hinting/saying that we made a mistake cutting him. Jets limited his role and perhaps Maybin finally realized his NFL career was non-existent and that he needed to make some changes in his approach to the game. He definitely looks much more tenacious and "hungry" out there right now. I don't think he'll ever be more than a situational pass rusher but good for him trying to make something out of himself.
  12. Good news, let's hope this gets done soon and they get moving forward on Stevie and Fred. Unless the FO makes a commitment to some or all of these guys team chemistry will take a big hit.
  13. Yes, the playcalling does seem misguided most of the time. If we're talking about our defense. After so many years of watching crappy offenses, I am more than happy with Chan's playcalling. He can't be right all the time nor can he control execution.
  14. He's got some work still to do but he's coming along nicely. I think he was a big part of the reason they were willing to trade Lee.
  15. It would have helped if she stood up and turned around slowly while doing her "analysis" but no such luck.
  16. Honestly, there's a lot of things it could be. Could be ARVD, SVT actually refers to a host of different arrythmias originating above the ventricle such as PSVT, Afib, Aflutter, reentrant tachyarrhythmia (AV nodal), problems with SA node (pacemaker cells). There's also junctional blocks, or it could involve some form of ventricular hypertrophy, PVC's of questionable origin, or some other kind of VT. And there are more as I'm not a doctor but I do research in this field and elucidating the exact problem takes a lot of testing and expertise. It's probably pretty serious because he went from being "sick, back next week or so" to IR over the weekend. Best not to speculate what it is and give Easley his privacy. Eventually we'll find out where his career stands.
  17. My understanding from reading the turbotax link provided earlier in this discussion is that gifts to spouse are unlimited and non-taxable. But it is not the same as a will. I'm guessing your parents' estate was in both their names or your dad gifted the entire thing to her before he passed away. Ralph already stated his wife does not want the team, if Ralph sells he will have to pay taxes on the sale.
  18. Sure, but did they actually give him the opportunity to do just that? Keep in mind I'm not saying Maybin's going to be some fantastic NFL player. Due to injury, Ryan is simply giving Maybin an opportunity to do the only thing he might be able to do at this level. I have to disagree partially with you also. I don't think his work ethic is the problem, I suspect attitude was the real issue. I think Maybin didn't like listening to what the coaches were trying to teach/tell him.
  19. It wouldn't shock me either. Buffalo drafted this guy with the intention of him being a starter and an impact player. The jets seem to want to insert him sporadically solely to rush the quarterback. Big difference in responsibilities. Long term I don't think Maybin makes it but I can see it working for the short term.
  20. Articles I've read say ESPN informed him Thurs morning while Hank's rep says Hank decided Wednesday night to quit. That was the rationale behind my first post in this topic, people are going to believe who they want in this situation and Hank claims to have decided first. Possibly why people are siding with him.
  21. Higher ratings = more viewers = larger potential backlash/alienation if controversy gets associated with your product. Take a large risk, pull sponsorship, or jettison controversy/risk and continue getting what you paid for?
  22. It's not all about ratings, it's also about advertising $$. This is simply a football game, not a political controversy. Hank half-wittingly decided to tie his celebrity to some controversial political statements that overshadow the football game. ESPN is trying to show an simple, enjoyable football telecast, sponsors are trying to sell products to the viewers, not associate their brand with a political controversy. I realize the gut reaction is to call the sponsors "spineless" but they spend millions in advertising and if those $$ are turning off potential customers why should they do that? They also don't want to have to spend $$ in damage control from consumer groups. It's understandable why Hank is no longer associated with the program. They'll get some other mindless, catchy tune to replace it. Maybe Faith Hill will get promoted.
  23. Maybe, but it sure sounds like a "You can't fire me, I quit!" situation. Guess it was mutual. Can't say it's a surprise.
  24. It's because being a Bills fan is like having a permanent virus. Many are actively infected their entire lives while for others the virus enters it's lysogenic cycle; quietly hiding in your DNA and waiting for the right sequence of events to become active again. Oh, you move on with your life and think it's gone away then ...BAM! Welcome back to the land of the perpetually ill!
  25. This is key, IMO. The Cinci-Cleveland game was just plain ugly as both teams stunk it up. Kind of like when the Bills/Browns played under Jauron. Cleveland's offense is all over the place as they try and adjust to the new system under Shurmer. I still have no idea how Marvin Lewis keeps his job. Certainly "any given Sunday" is always possible but we should win this game easily. Maybe not 41-3, but still win handily.
