Thanks for posting an entirely reasonable topic and wanting to discuss it respectfully. That is key to trying to heal this country. This video, does not appear to be any reputable news organization. It looks like something was staged and pasted together. Every video they cut to has Trump campaign people in it. Are there any in there you consider truly neutral? A CIA operation around Joe"Chinese" Biden? Does that sound like a professional assessment? It sounds hokey to me. As far as news sources, what about many of Trump's legal challenges being shot down and light on evidence? What do you think about Georgia certifying and Michigan moving to do so Monday? I've heard a lot of big words and theories from the Trump campaign about massive fraud but no one there has any evidence other than trivial problems, ie nothing significantly impacting election results. As a 2016 Trump voter I ask you, do you really feel the Trump campaign has something concrete or this is all just smoke and mirrors and why?

I agree with you about the wings. People who enjoy the thought of "authentic" wings plays in to this a bit. Beef on weck is pretty damn good, I think it's not more widespread because the kummelweck roll is not. Also, cooking that sliced beef just right is a subtlety that Buffalo places seem to excel at, even if it's not on the weck sandwich.

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
GaryPinC replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
From your article: Travel from other American cities also sparked infections across the country, including from an early outbreak centered in the Seattle area that seeded infections in more than a dozen states, researchers say. Even if New York had managed to slow the virus, it probably would have continued to spread from elsewhere, they say. -

Yea, no. The first confirmed case of COVID was in Washington State January 20th. First NYC case February 29th. Detroit and Chicago airports were two of the last to close to European travel and it's suspected that's why they've had so many problems. Pretending everything hinged on NYC is blindingly stupid. -

No one he knows of was shot. I've heard no reports of shootings over Covid, have you? Despite the Chinese government, the people themselves also understood the gravity of the situation and were willing to make those sacrifices. My wife (who HATES the Chinese government) was completly mystified about US resistance to masking and lockdowns. Do people here really not care about helping each other through this? I had to explain US history and that individual freedom attitude is part of what makes us great but in this case it's absolutely killing us. -
The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19

Well, my friend lives in Shanghai. He is an honest friend (who loves the US) and when he tells me life has been back to normal since April I believe him. Given the population density of that area, no way does the government allow that if the virus is still raging but being covered up. -

Wrong. It's been stopped in China. The most populous country in the world. Here's a great article about it: https://www.thelancet.com/journals/laninf/article/PIIS1473-3099(20)30800-8/fulltext My wife is Chinese and one of my friends is back home there now. They've been almost entirely mask free since April. April. The only times they must wear masks is subways and busses. They did real lockdowns, if one person in a building had it the entire building was locked down, one person per family was designated to go pick up supplies every 2 days. Testing checkpoints, sacrifices of personal freedoms that people in the US would violently rebel against. The infected were at times grouped in converted theaters, gyms, etc with medical staff. But, April. What the rest of the world needs to realize is that a swift, painful but concerted effort is needed at the beginning to cut off spread to enable contact tracing. People have to realize they're sacrificing a month or two of freedoms to prevent what the we are experiencing now. "Virus is gonna virus?" You succeed contact tracing, you succeed in isolating all infected people and all potential sources of transmission and virus is gonna die. But that's incredibly difficult to do if you don't catch it at the beginning. The US and most of the world has been all about slowing the infectivity rate of the virus, nothing else. We were never going to be able to replicate China and stamp it out because from a health logistics standpoint we weren't set up for it and our citizens are unwilling to sacrifice so much freedom. That's still our plan until the vaccine(s) are given. Normal doesn't happen until mass vaccination. Don't like it? That's what we chose because of an inability to do better. We need to learn our lessons and do better next time. I am against drugs unless absolutely necessary but I will be getting a vaccine ASAP. Why? Because my kids will have to get it, it's what's necessary to get back to normal, and I'd rather step up and contribute in a positive way then simply complain about it. Pretending the virus doesn't exist, that being exposed means you are immune thereafter, and that the US plans of masking and social distancing would stop it are just myths. What are we going to do about it and what sacrifices will we make to do better next time? -
11 seconds, no timeouts and Murray is scrambling for his life. Needing a touchdown, I have a hard time believing that a 20 yd sideline pass was the primary play there. I realize they're claiming it is but I felt like they were just trying to get across the 50 to set up that bomb.

I don't understand why they didn't drop Edmunds back there. He's 6'5" and athletic. Hopkins is a master at doing that. I get that Hopkins was the only deep guy on that play, but I'd like to see it where they coach him up a bit and swap him with a safety in these cases.

I don't know if Biden will be a good leader. I appreciate the fact he's at least talking about bringing the country back together as that's what's most important to me right now. I expect government will continue as is which is hugely disappointing, but hopefully 2024 will offer a better hope. For me, he deserves a chance. Just like Trump did 4 years ago. Unfortunately, I cannot support Trump. His active support and use of conspiracy theories, denigrating and generalizing people he doesn't agree with, and general obnoxiousness has been too divisive and polarizing. Plus, his seemingly constant hiring and firing of people in his administration. That is not the mark of a successful business. That is a working situation to be avoided at all costs.
-
And people like Soros, Murdoch, and Koch's know it.
-
Much like the blind deification of Trump is what gets you right wingers through the day. For someone like me mostly in the middle, and voted Trump in 2016, I am happy to see him gone as no matter what your opinion of him, he was a willing lightning rod stoking divisiveness and controversy.

I found it mostly to be a blatant hit piece, and yes alternatives to monopolies like Google, Twitter, Amazon, etc are always welcome. Cutthroat business practices haven't changed, just the businesses have. Thanks to technology, controlling information is now of massive importance and it's easier than ever to manipulate that information.

Interesting points about a possible Russian connection but huge, unprofessional bias by the author. Far below the intelligence of articles you normally post. Just sayin'.

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
GaryPinC replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Science is a lot of gray. It takes time, sometimes a very long time, before the numbers can reasonably capture the reality of the science. This is a very unique virus. Now from March we've learned a hell of a lot, but there's a lot to still be learned before we can say we've got control of it. Kudos to you for stepping up and admitting you were wrong. Not a big deal, but in these polarized times much needed.👍 People like Magox operate best in a numbers only bubble, failing to analyze or weigh how much the numbers fail to capture. In fact, in trying to explain that to him, he chooses to ignore it. Always hate willfully closed minds but he feels it works well for him. -
The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19

Thanks for the updated sources. I hadn't looked at the CDC in a bit and realized they feel it's the larger droplets. The thing about anti-maskers that cracks me up is I could teach a 6 year old the usefulness of masks but you can't teach them: 1. Put your hand 12 to 16 inches in front of your mouth and blow hard into it. 2. Put your mask on and repeat step 1. And that's air you're affecting, let alone a thousands of times larger viral particle. -
Absolutely will I accept those results. The real question is after all the swing states are recounted and Biden is announced the legal winner of the presidency will you accept the results?

Great stuff and contributions on this, thanks! One point you hit on I really like is discussing the non-racial unconscious bias. IMO, this is not emphasized enough as a segue to then discuss racial-based bias. Certainly the diversity trainers I have had focus on white/black racial bias which immediately polarizes the listeners. Humorous irony while they preach inclusion. WRT NFL minority coaching development, definitely agree some kind of fellowship and/or minority scholarship program would be best if the NFL is serious about this. It seems any future NFL coach had to start at the bottom for little to no money and work their way up. Part of this I see as being akin to med school rotations and residency hours where they're testing your passion and commitment along with your ability. NFL should reach out to minorities/minority college programs and educate candidates what's expected of them. The "unwritten" rules. Mentors is a great idea also.

I'm seeing the situation as this. Poyer telling Thad Brown "I thought we were on the same team" implies there was a connection and relationship behind the scenes as most good sports reporters try to cultivate. Poyer feeling he is the best safety in the league is just to motivate himself and control what he can control, he has no desire to put himself above anyone else or mince statistics. The best safety takes on that punishing block, sacrifices his body to make the tackle, etc. I'm sure he realizes it could appear disrespectful to his peers and seeks to avoid that individual comparison perspective. I think he's miffed at Brown because he felt behind the scenes Brown understood this but clearly it was not the case.

That's a joke at best used in a small group of close friends, not on a general BB of fans discussing a highly respected player.

Tua Tagovailoa - Future of Miami?
GaryPinC replied to BillsM@fia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If they know he's their guy then it could go either way (sit, learn or play now) depending on the opinion of the front office. I just wanted to mention that what goes on in the meeting rooms and practices has a large impact. All you have to do is look at Nate Peterman and Josh Rosen to figure that out. But in the end, no matter how confident you are in your young QB, there's no substitute for performing under live fire. Flores says this isn't an audition, I believe him in the sense that Tua will be the starter to the end of the season barring catastrophe. But, given the potential for a high draft pick, they definitely need to see what he's got . Give Tua credit, he's shown enough ability behind the scenes to earn the look where Rosen never did. -
Well, he seemed to be making bigger hits again against the Pats so hopefully his injury is mostly resolved. On the other hand, this entire season he seems out of position on many plays because he is peeking in the backfield all the time ball watching and biting on play fakes. Then he figures out where he's supposed to be and uses his quicks to try and get there but often the ball has beaten him and he's hopelessly behind or actually gets there with too much momentum and overruns the ball. Can someone explain to me what this behavior has to do with his injury?

Funny story OP, and so true. I'll add this:. I don't give a crap about buying any female product, just tell me exactly what you want and I'll pick it up. And therein lies the true problems: getting clear communication about the exact item and being able to discern the subtle packaging cues to land the correct one. Brand, color, number, shape, day/night, heavy/normal/light. And I'm sure there's more. It's like cracking into the safe in "Die Hard", many layers of security. Taking the old packaging and devout prayer are the best approach. For newlyweds, it's more about trying to knock you off your game and have a funny story to tell their friends, so don't fret too much.
