Buddy's first BIG mistakeS
John Cocktosten replied to John Cocktosten's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why leave the door open for so long if he didn't think he was coming back? Because he thought he could persuade him>>>>>FAIL! Please, you believe what you want to believe and believe what I want. Either way, you cannot say that the Bills didn't dropped the ball when it came to improving the OLB position in the draft or in free agency. Save the "they cannot build an entire team in one draft." Shouldn't you start with the most important positions? The spots where you don't have legit incumbents like Kyle Williams, Stroud, Freddy Jax? Well, Schobel ain't here anymore and there will be no position more evident of this mistake....other than Tackle and QB of course. -

You're right. The similarities between Bruce and Carrington are stunning. Let's name them...they're both big! -

So what you are saying is that you agree with my original post. Buddy thought and was counting on Schobel coming back. Schobel decided that he doesn't want to be here. Buddy did not plan for this and it's so freeking obvious. So what's the problem with my post other than the fact that you have the reading comprehension of a 5th grader? Are you happy with Kelsay, Maybin, Batten and Mitchell being your primary pass rushers? I know Brady, Sanchez and Henne have to be. -

Your reading comprehension, much like your spelling, is poor. Not once did I say they should have gotten anything for him. They should have planned for life without him and they didn't! Let me try to spell it out for you (pun intended for BillyMadison7). WHO THE HELL IS GOING TO RUSH THE PASSER NOW THAT SCHOBEL IS GONE??? Maybin looks good in the first week of camp blowing by D Bell and the rest of the practice squders that the Bills throw out there a tackle....OOHHH JOOOY!!!!!! Who is on the other side....Kelsay?? Now your stupid LMAO is appropriate here! Mitchell.......ummmm no! Batten...PLEASE!!! I'm not saying that Schobel is a great pass rusher but he's the only one the Bills have. And hoping that Maybin is going to go from Clark Kent to Superman because he's playing OLB in a 3-4 is well...pure fantasy. He's playing behind a career journeyman in Torbor and while I've read that he looks quick, I've also read that he's getting bent in half against the run. And last time I checked, quickness doesn't equate to anything without technique, strength or size. Carrington was a decent draft pick but to expect sacks out of a 3-4 end is more fantasy. Obviously he'll push the pocket and create better lanes for our OLB's... if the Bills had any... AlphaDouche7, why didn't Buddy pull the trigger on Schobel 4 months ago if he didn't think he was going to play? Why did he leave the door open for him? I agree with you, he has no value. So what was the advantage to keeping him around if they were going to cut him anyway? I would really like you to answer this, but back it up with something other than pure conjecture. -

You're forgetting the most important IMO, Kyle Williams! -

Look at it from Schobel's view though. What has this organiztion done to put a winner on the field during his career? Laughable drafts, terrible FA signings and bad coaching and FO choices. The dude is worn out. Apathetic beyond belief. So now he wants to be closer to home and play for a team that has a shot and not be part of another rebuild which would make it 3 for his career. I never thought he ws an elite player but he was pretty damn good for a long time here. He's not showing the Bills up, he's sick of the disfunction. To bad Buddy didn't feel the need to replace his production. -

Can I get a link supporting that? Talking about a stretch of the imagination? Nix wants Schobel to stay away but has a spot for Kelsay and Mitchell? Come on! -

NO SH*T SHIRLOCK! Just like Jason Taylor, Calvin Pace, Elvis Dumerville, Willie McGinest, Terelle Suggs and Mike Vrable all played with their hands on the ground to start their careers in the NFL. Morgan would've played OLB on this team too! Try slowing down when you read. -

Or those succesful teams know that having pass rushers is the most important thing after having a solid QB. And by your logic, isn't Spiller a luxury? I mean, FJ and Marshawn are good RB's. -

John Cocktosten replied to John Cocktosten's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Before we start an insult-fest, let's look at the facts. The Bills never said that they expected Schobel to retire. Not around the draft and not after. Even now, no one in the FO said that they thought he would retire up until a couple of days ago. There were many on this board that felt he was coming back as well for whatever that's worth. So it looks like hindsight is 20/20 for you guys, but the Bills look like they were caught with their pant down now that he's a gone. Finally, to say thet addressed the pass rush in the draft last year is ludicrous. Maybin may not be a bust YET(I think he will), but who else is there? Danny Batten!?!? Torbor!?!? You're joking right?!?! I'm hardly upset witht the Spiller pick. I watched him throughout college a million times and I think he is a GREAT talent. I'm not sure he'll be able to stay healthy on a consistant basis. But there WERE guys there who could've helped this team especially since they have two very good RB's already. They also passed on any legit OLB's until the 5th round when they drafted Batten...another small school project. Who leads the team in sacks and how many do you expect? -

John Cocktosten replied to John Cocktosten's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All you're doing is proving my point Doc. If he expected Schobel to retire, why didn't he replace him with anyone who can provide pass rush! Drafting Maybin did nothing to improve the pass rush. Even if he plays well this year, how well will he play? So you're fine with Kelsay and Mitchell at the other spot? The Colts drafted Jerry Hughes in the 1st round when they have Freeney/Mathis. The Steelers drafted Wordlis in the 2nd and Gibson in the 4th when they have Harrison/Woodley/Timmons. The Giants drafted Paul in the 1st when they have Osi/Kiwanuka/Tucker. Get it now? Next! -
The first BIG MISTAKE was assuming that Schobel was coming back. Buddy expected to get one more productive year out of Schobel as the teams primary pass rusher. Well that's not going to happen. The second BIG MISTAKE was not having a backup plan and drafting a legit pass rusher. In the 1st round he passed on legit pass rushers like Morgan, Graham, Pierre Paul. In the 2nd round he passed on Kindle. In the later rounds, he passed on Griffen, Norwood and Sapp. Am I saying that all of them will be All Pros, NO! But they would've all contributed this year and the majority of them are better than anyone the Bills have at OLB. When you look at the great 3-4's, it's all about the NT and the OLB's. Over the years, tandems like Woodley and Harrison and Timmons (Dominated the Cards Oline in the SB), Phillips and Merriman , Ware and Spencer, Porter and Taylor, Vrable and McGinest dominated opposing offensive lines and disrupted passing games. Even teams who run a 4-3 understand that the NFL is a passing league and you need great pass rushers to get anywhere. The last 3 Super Bowls were played by teams who have Freeney/Mathis, Will Smith, Harrison/Wodley, Tuck/Mathias K/Osi/Strahan (And they just drafted Pierre Paul). Look at what Allen and Edwards do in Minny!!!!! Or the difference guys like Mathews and Dumerville make on their teams. So what did Buddy do to improve what I think is the 2nd most important position (pass rusher wherever it comes from) in the NFL today? NOTHING! And now the Bills best pass rusher over the last decade is sick of the ineptitude that the Bills show year after year and says "no thanks" to 6 mill. Good job Buddy! The Bills may not have anyone to rush the QB but they do have 3 solid RB's!! (And a terrible O-line to boot!) Isn't the NFL a passing league!?!?! Wouldn't it make sense to load up on pass rushers the way the Steelers do every year? Way to count on the dynamic duo of Maybin and Kelsay. Brady, Henne and Sanchez thank you!
-
WOW!!! What's next, he predicts that he'll get a sack this year? The guy showed nothing last year. ZERO! Did you see something that everyone else missed? Maybin "haters" (hater is the gayest term ever) have no right to judge how he parties. They shouldn't care that pics of him slinging strippers around are showing up on the internet. What they should be critical of is his play and he flat out sucked last year. So save that he's looked good in practice against the worst OT's in the league, he's got to do it when it counts. Until then, he deserves all of the negativity and "hate" (gay) that he gets.

Hangartner fight with Maybin
John Cocktosten replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This post has reinforced my hatred for the word/phrase "hater". Maybin shoves a guy 10 yds downfield and thats worth 8 pages? He's just following the "leadrship" of Lil Donte. Hossage, maybe you should get drunk and post and Simone will leave you alone. -

Bills go 5-11 and finish last in the AFC East. Wins: Dolphins, Jags, Chiefs, Bears, Browns Brohm ends the season at QB by default. Fitz ends the season enrolled at Harvard. Trent end the season enrolled in patient study on concussions. Minny wins the Super Bowl...Favre finally retires -
I love what Joe P. said, "For what? missing tackles? unfulfilled guarantees? reckless twittering?" Twitner's biggest problem is that he doesn't have an honest friend or family member. "reckless twittering" is a hilarious phraze!!!

Seahawks Still Quite Interested In Lynch
John Cocktosten replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nix should've traded him for a 3. This isn't Madden and the longer the situation lingers his value will go down. Seahawks know that they are bidding against themselves at this point. -

The real reason Pete Carroll left USC
John Cocktosten replied to Fingon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I see what you're saying now. Let me un-bunch my panties! That game WAS the best football game that I've ever watched. That mighty USC team with 2 Heisman winners riding a 20+ game winning streak. The Longhorns led by one of the greatest college QB's of all time trying to duplicate the Rose Bowl performance from the previous year. So freeking exciting! I always felt like VY was in control of that game and that UT was going to pull it off. They did and it turns out, karma prevailed. That year USC played in 2 other great games, Fresno St. and Notre Dame. The ND game is still in my top 5 favorite football games. That season was so great and as it turns out, USC deserved to lose....to bad the 2010 version of the Trojans lost before the season even starts. -
No way, the Bills QB's suck?!?! Clausen will be the Panthers starting by week 5 and will be the eventual ROY and Trent will continue her lackluster play and get hurt by week 6. Fitz will spell him and remind us all that he sucks. He'll be cut by week 10 and replaced by Brohm who will throw for 130 0 td"s and 2 int's in his next start. Trent comes back from injury and reminds us all that he sucks again. Levi Brown starts the last game of the year and has a decent game leading the 4-11 Bills to a meaningless win against the Jets who are sitting 8 defensive starters sitting on an AFC East title. Chris Brown is a genius!
