  1. I think the D line is going to be interesting. I think the Bills are going to be more versatile with their fronts than people think. If Merriman actually is healthy, Mark Anderson and Mario all have OLB experience. All of the DTs have 1,3,5 experience too. Versatility wins in the NFL now a days and teams are using way more 5 man fronts to beat the spread teams. It's going to be fun to watch the battle but I can't see Gilbert making it to the opening day roster. Troup and Carrington have been complete disappoints too. It's gonna be fun to watch, that's for sure.
  2. Wow, if Anderson can bring that effort to Buffalo this defense might be unreal to watch against the pass. A couple things jumped out to me about that video: 1. MA has an array of moves. Stutter than inside, spin, speed rush. 2. He is relentless with his counter moves and effort. He is going to get 5-7 sacks alone from the pocket being collapsed and his effort. 3. He will be standing up against the WC/Spread teams when the Bills move to a 5 man front. If Merriman is healthy the Bills will show this look a lot more than people think. 4.He knows how to use his wingspan and his hands. He creates nice separation from blockers with textbook extension. His hands never stop and rarely gets engulfed by the blocker. 5.He's a little light and gets pushed around a bit but he never stops. 6.He's everything Maybin wishes he could be. God, I am so pumped to watch this defense this year.
  3. LT is the most overrated position in football. Not saying that you can get by with a total slug but you don't need a perennial pro bowler either.
  4. That clip is one of the funniest quotes of all time. I've posted that before and I think you put it to good use here.
  5. If Fitz can fix his accuracy he could be a very good QB. But that's a big and hopeful "if".
  6. A healthy D line makes all of the Bills lbs a full grade better.
  7. Easly, along with the other WRs (not named Steve/Nelson) are an enormous question mark. Jones has shown next to nothing, Hagan is a career journeyman, Kamar is the one UDFA that everyone falls in love with every year but does nothing, Graham is a smallish rookie and Easly cannot get on the field. This group reminds me of what Buddy did with the OLBs the last couple of years. Throw a bunch of crap at the wall and hope one of them sticks. Well that was an absolute disaster and this 2nd WR problem looks the same. Even if one of them steps up, what happens when they get hurt for a couple of weeks? Back at square one. There are decent enough FAs out there still that he could bring in to compete at least.
  8. So are you a scout (you knew he was good) or is this an "I told you so" thread? Most coaches are going say what Gailey said when asked about a player on their current roster. Actually, I don't remember too many coaches in any sport saying that a guy on their current roster wasn't "good" in preseason/OTA's. Seriously, is Kelsay your neighbor or do you have some kind of Dog1487 obsession with him?
  9. Who laid down the internet tongue lashing? You started a post lecturing TBD about their opinions regarding Kelsay and ended with an "enough already". Kelsay deserves all the crap he gets. He was obviously playing out of position the last couple of years but he's also made a career out of getting engulfed by offensive tackles before that. Gailey's opinion shouldn't change anyone's opinion.
  10. What a ridiculously self righteous post. What's the matter eball? Now that everyoneis thrilled with the offseason the Bills put together you are finding it hard to play TBD policeman so you have to preemptively start a crusade? Can no one on this board criticize a player for being overpaid while playing at an extraordinarily average level because we aren't scouts? Or does your edict just apply to Kelsay? Eball, why don't you put together a list of players that can't be criticized... wait, are you qualified to put that list together? Do you have a scouting background? See how that works?
  11. This is nuts. No pun intended of course. http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-coliseum-porn-20120530,0,7705663.story
  12. Not really. Passing concepts haven't changed. Formations and personnel implementation have. Some spreads are variations of the west coast offense and some are variations of the old vertical passing games. Colt Mccoy had a 76% completion rate one year in college but threw the ball under 10 yards 90+% of the time. The offenses now are tailored to take advantage of match-ups, getting big guys running with small guys. Disregard Fitz's stats and just watch the games. The guys throws are rarely on target. This new coach is going to make Fitz a better QB which will give the Bills a great shot at the playoffs. Pitchers break down because of improper "scapular loading". Qbs don't injure their shoulders or elbows from throwing, they injure them from falling on them like Bradford and Brees did. Pitchers go down every other day. The mechanics of a pitcher and a QB are not even close. Read about scapular load. http://www.chrisoleary.com/projects/PitchingMechanics101/Essays/ScapularLoading.html http://www.crawfishboxes.com/2010/2/7/1299683/pitching-mechanics-terms-to-look
  13. Jim Kelly played in a vertical passing offense. Ftiz plays in a spread. Big difference.
  14. Golfing mechanics and throwing mechanics are not even close to the same things. Throwing is a much more natural motion and golfing goes against the natural kinetics of the body. I've never heard of a QB going David Duval one day. I'm sure that Lee had a nice long talk about Fitz's play-fakes as well. He just got straight up lazy at the end of the year and wasn't fooling anyone. I agree with CodeMonkey that this is as big as any off season move. It shows that the coaching staff is evolving and the players are accountable. This has truly been a dream off season.
  15. If Fitz can correct some of his bad habits the sky is the limit for this team. This quote from Fitz about his new coach shows that he's accountable and knows he needs to be better. “I’ve never really had a technician as a coach,” said Fitzpatrick. “I’ve kind of always just gone out there and thrown. And I don’t know why I go out and throw like I do. I just go out and do it. To have a coach like him that’s able to sit there and say, ‘Hey you missed this throw six times last year and you missed it low every time. Here’s why…’ That makes a lot of sense for me. That’s something that I can process and now I understand why I’m doing it and can correct it. http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-1/Fitz-already-improving-mechanics-under-Lee/b7a3494c-e52a-4e0e-88e8-9076dd90aefe
