  1. Tell me how Whitner broke up passes or helped stop the pass that game. The only guys who did anything in the passing game were Greer and Mitchell at the end with one INT. Rivers passed at will most of the game. Did you even watch it? Whitner didn't have one PD or one INT, and didn't stop any receiver from catching the ball once. I know facts suck on this board, but those are facts. Against a fact there is no argument. Whitner has done NOTHING in the passing game that merits a discussion. I could play all 11 positions but if I don't do anything why should I get credit for being so great? Tell me how Whitner did in the passing game in the Cardinals game. Get back to me (hint: it's the same prognosis 2 lines above)
  2. So Whitner has helped in the passing game? Where? Sanders would typically have a minimum of 2 INTs and PDs as well. Sanders is an exception and if you want to compare Sanders to Whitner be my guest, they are in different echelons, proving once again you don't have to draft a good SS in the 1st, as Sanders was in the 2nd. Your "3" is more of a comment you've already made and I've answered. Your "4" makes no sense because it exposes teams that have gone more to smaller DEs who get pushed around, and the 3-4 D. I've yet to see the Wildcat work against a good line with excellent DTs in a 4-3. It's a gimmick play that won't be around when LBs start smashing the QB. With the exception of INT Rivers passed at will on us, same with the Cardinals. Both teams couldn't run the ball and Whitner was not part of that effort of stopping the run on either game. The teams that are the biggest threat to us are teams that take it to us with their passing game. Would you care to make your argument how Whitner has helped stopped the pass, because as you well know, teams pass 65% of the time. Last time I checked 1 INT and 1 PD is so below average I don't know where to start, and with over 1/3rd of the season gone he has 0 INTs and 1 PD. That's WAY below average. Do you know what a good strong safety looks like in coverage? Maybe we've forgotten, but watch Sean Taylor clips before he died who played a similar role to Whitner, or look up guys like Polamalu, Dawkins, Sanders, or f'ing Harrison when he had wheels in his 20's.
  3. The first 7 are off the table, end of discussion unless you want to compare the value of Williams to Whitner, which again is a non-discussion. So Ngata was not as a good of value as Whitner in the 8th? Most people wanted Ngata, and to this day will tell you (myself included) that a team is built from the lines and a great safety will never equal a pretty good DT. A pretty good DT will make the safeties look better, but a really good safety doesn't change games unless you are a once in a decade player, and it's never worth the investment to do so and gamble to see if they are. DTs change every game they are in, even extremely good safeties don't do that unless they are exceptional in pass coverage. Whitner is below average in pass coverage with his bend but don't break philosophy of giving up the pass with a cushion and try crushing the guy after they catch. Whitner is WAY above average on the run, but a good DT would do more for the run.
  4. Congrats man for showing you won't admit how blatantly hypocritical this is. And you think you are making a point somehow by people repeating truths as inconvenienced fabrications in a way that is supposed to take us away from the topic at hand.
  5. General welfare doesn't mean welfare checks. There is no interpretation, that's socialism. Are you going to tell me that general welfare for common use means welfare checks? There is nothing general when the general public doesn't have use. Are you stupid enough to tell me that the framers intended taxes for welfare checks and "spreading wealth"?
  6. Giving outstanding effort and having superior vision are 2 different things. The man plays possessed, but he's not smart (running out of bound in the last 5 minutes of the game) and he lacks vision. I've watched every game he's started and he needs holes to create yardage, which isn't always available in the NFL. If getting a big hole was easy you wouldn't need talent, just a fast guy. Lynch has huge flaws in field vision, and side-steps when he should be trying to get 3-5 yards instead of 15. That's what you learn from WATCHING the game, instead of screaming for a 1st rounder who has great effort, not so great production. Jackson got 3.7 yards with no run over 7 yards. Jackson had no run under a yard except for the 3rd and 1 on which he got 7 yards on first down (something we normally never see). Lynch had 3.7 with a 9 yard run that Jackson blocked for, and a 22 yarder. Take those off his high # he's running closer to 2 yards per carry, which is what I watch all the time. When Lynch gets 4 yards on 1st or 2nd down let me know. He can't do it consistently. That's a huge issue.
  7. Actually his average is better per carry. Lynch was something like 7 carries for 19 yards at the half. That is unacceptable and something has to change. I'd prefer it was Jackson until off-season.
  8. Not really since it's part of the game. Good rushers average 4.3-5+ per carry with 15 TDs so it's part of the stat.
  9. Passing yards? Are you f'ing kidding me? How about running yards? Edwards did pretty freaking good considering he got no support on the ground. If you want 30+ scores you need 100+ yards running and 200+ passing and the rest will take care of itself. When you lack 100+ games on the ground your team will suffer, especially later in the year. Do you honestly think Edwards first half would have so few points if we had a running game? Replace your emphasis from passing (which is doing great) and rushing and you figured it out.
  10. Of course it's not about race. Powell has endorsed scores of other people with no experience. Of course liberals will always not talk about the facts and term this racist. The same people that will scream for nation and individual savings, common-sense, and freedom when both major parties take it away from us.
  11. This coming from a guy who said he was making his last thread and can't follow his own logic? Yeah, you're a genius.
  12. What's even crazier is the fact it's not satire either.
  13. None of those sources of media get as much exposure as CBS, NBC, Fox (I know Hannity is there, but he has Colmes), etc.. Most people think from the main-stream sources. I agree with Kelly on this to a large degree, but I disagree that Bush is bright who sticks his foot in his mouth. I think the guy is a complete dumbass who would barely pass high-school without help. I think part of his dumbassness is, and I honestly believe this, his memory going bye-bye and he might be suffering from memory and recollection loss. He was more articulate as a governor. I still say Palin wouldn't get as much attention if she was a Dem, and there would be more "women's rights" calling this sexist behavior. I don't think she suffers from memory loss or problems with general recollection, but is a genuine dumbass who scares me to think she could be the head of state. Even though that is true, Obama and Biden scare me more with their policies that are as dumbass as they come.
  14. One poster recommended we lose to the Rams so that our chances increase to the difficulty of the NFC. Some on here lauded it as brilliant. When it's all said and done you want your players to think and believe they are winners. This season is what we need to bring back the environment of winning that's been missing in a decade.
  15. Guys remember Michael Turner? That's how teams are going to look at Jackson, except Turner is a better pure runner and stronger, while Jackson is much better receiving.
  16. Did you watch him play against the Redskins when Marshawn was hurt? He had a game Marshawn never had with more overall yardage and better between the stat numbers than Marshawn. Jackson is more Thurman-like with better YAC skills and better north-south running for positive yards. You have to understand the 1st rounder will play no matter how much better their back-ups are for fans and to make the front-office look better. Watch how many touches Benson had with Chicago over Thomas who was better. The same thing happens year after year. If we lose Jackson to FA and watch him succeed, which I believe will happen, it will be exhausting trying to replace a guy who can average 4.5 ypc, and 9 yards per catch. I don't know if Jackson is durable enough, but he's worth trying as he is the only back on this team that is capable. The Buffalo coaches saw Anthony Thomas as a better back too. Want to bet it had more with how much they pay over who is better? Happens on every team, every year.
  17. At some point, for the offense to hit the next level, we are going to need a running game. People make mention that we need the O-line to block better, and that may be true. What we need to find out if there is a plausible solution rather than sign free-agents mid-season, and that's start Jackson who looks like a real RB who can gain 4-6 yards on 1st down with some regularity. We aren't getting that with Lynch who either gets 0-2 yards, or gets 12 yards. I've yet to see Lynch get a series of carries for a first down when there isn't a big hole for him to gash the D for 10+ yards. That's reality, and right now Jackson seems to be the consistent 4-6 yard back. I've yet to see him consistently get less than 2 yards a carry, and that is the point of the running game which is maximize short-distance yardage to create mismatches on 2nd and 3rd downs. You can't expect Trent to be 25/30 in the winter. This has to be addressed now. I know Marshawn deserves our respect as he plays so damn hard every snap, but that does not mean he has to be the starter either. He could be the bruising 8 carry back for the moment. If this continues we are screwed deeper in the season. Love Marshawn, but as someone objectively watching the offense Jackson is better for the present. I hope he gets to start and see if it is the ignition to a better running game. Watching Lynch get 1-2 yards side-stepping and dancing is not what the O needs long term.
  18. The biggest difference is what he gives to the D when he gives them time to rest. That's the big difference that the team needed. Last year we saw the same thing, and this year we are seeing it amplified. It's not so much what he brings to the O, but how he enhances our D too. I hope he stays healthy and continues to improve his red-zone play. The guy will be unstoppable.
  19. Why? He's played since he was a boy, done it all his life, loves the game, and it's the only thing he knows. He had a 103 passer rating before this game, 2nd in TDs, and he's still good. Why not let the game push him out than the fans? Jets fans love him and he brings people to watch the game. Seriously, what's he going to do the next 2 years that he couldn't do now? If I, or any of you, were in his shoes and played that well I don't think I would want to quit until the game passed me by. He's not playing good today but he's playing good overall. He's the #1 jersey in league sales and I say good for him. Be a fan of the sport and enjoy what he does. Maybe he should watch you work and critique you. I love the vets playing well in their last years and it's a testament to their talent they are still playing, starting and kicking ass. Go Farve and Warner, you guys deserve it.
  20. I don't know if it was 2 INTs, but it was definitely one and the sack. The guy was unleashed.
  21. His point was that Jackson starts. He wasn't denying Lynch playing. I agree with him, Jackson should start at this point. Jackson is just a better player at this point in their careers. Wearing people down with 2 yard gains is not getting it done. Tell me we wouldn't have done better if Jackson didn't get more touches and I'll say you haven't watched the same game. I do see the good thing by changing it. We got by on D not offense. We need a 100 yard rusher and a 30 yard bruiser, not vice-versa.
  22. The only time that stat deserves some credence is the end of the year, and that stat bothers me as well.
  23. No the clock stopped, and Marshawn hasn't proven himself to be a back that moves the ball CONSISTENTLY. The play happened around the 4:40 mark and he ran out of bounds. Watch the play again, it really happened. Looking to break home-runs is not the same thing. Jackson has looked better running and catching the ball. Are you trying to run Jackson out of town? You know it works both ways. You can't score so few points in the first half with your QB on fire unless the running game is going no where. First-rounders are given way too much forgiveness by fans, this is one more example. Oh, one more thing, congrats to Lee Evans for playing a great overall game today. The guy was fantastic and deserves a lot of credit for the win.
  24. Jackson does look and play better than Lynch. It's nice to look forward to 3-5 yard gains on first down instead of Lynch going for home-runs with his side-stepping. Lynch leads the NFL (before this game) with the most 10+ yard plays, but that also means he is stuffed trying to side-step his way for a home-run when a single or double works. Love Lynch's spirit, but I don't think he is going to be the back we need long-term unless he stops side-stepping and just go for yards up the field instead of thinking long-ball. Ryan Howard type runners look great, but cause huge problems. There is no way in Hell that we only score 13 pts in the first half with Trent's performance with Jackson starting. Not saying Lynch isn't fixable, but he has to stop that side-step crap. This isn't college and it doesn't work anymore unless you are in open-field.
  25. Funny enough... they do. They don't want freedom, liberty, small gov't, and God (unless their God permits baby murder and homosexuality).
