What did Obama know, and when did he know it?
StupidNation replied to stuckincincy's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Ok, I agree with you on this 100%, but your next statement puzzles me. You contradict yourself from the previous statement. If the government is so wonderful at screwing things up what makes you think that privatization is bad? Privatization is only bad when the gov't makes laws to benefit the corporation over the individual and gives them rights over others to stop competition and unfair advantages. Think of the Post Office when a company wanted to compete against it saying they would be cheaper, faster, and just wanted the opportunity to compete. The gov't wouldn't let them and took out all clocks out of Post Offices so people wouldn't complain about the inefficiency. Ask yourself what got us in this mess to begin with and you'll realize quickly it was the gov't backing these ridiculous loans and decreasing risk to the investor to pawn them off. The gov't artificially lowered rates to fix the recession in 2001, now they are trying to reflate the bubble with more "liquidity" on bad loans and bad businesses. Gov't and business and gov't and socialism are birds of the same feather. Yes, you are right. -
Ummmm....Nevermind

Did it ever occur to you he was making a comment in general and not always about you, or are you so egocentric that you cannot fathom a post that doesn't apply to you? -

Just like your mom. -
You might think it's fumbles or interceptions, or pocket-presence. Nope... Demarcus Ware And everytime I watch him play I think about how much different our D would look and we wouldn't have over-payed for Kelsay or re-signed Schobel. Discuss... and this isn't to bash JP, but to see other people's views on how he would've changed our D.

I would say he's well above average against the run, but well below average in pass coverage. That makes him an overall liability as he is not a LB. Safeties should have at least 2 INTs and 6-8 PDs a year. If not they suck. As one poster pointed out, Scott makes more plays that stop the opposing O. That's scary.

Watched Smith today. He came back to the ball and ran off pattern to bail out his QB on several plays. He makes himself a player and fought for a first down right through the CB.

The "R" word
StupidNation replied to Cheeseburger_in_paradise's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The article is too well written for an adequate response. What makes a racist? What makes a racist bad? Who doesn't discriminate to some degree on all matters when dealing with others? Conservatives discriminate against liberals, and vice versa. White families don't drive and play in parks in black neighborhoods. What makes this wrong to discuss or bring up social truths is beyond me. People don't want to believe they discriminate, only those who they discriminate against. The question is whether or not that discrimination is justified which makes for a rational discussion, not going to happen on PPP. -
You hate facts and think I'm an idiot because you won't accept facts. Insanity is your mind not in reality. Case closed.

Dean, you are insane. I called Whitner out and you said I was wrong. Teams know what I see every week he plays, namely, he can't cover in the NFL secondary. It's so bad they have Scott playing the SS position because he was getting burned badly by TEs. I pointed out the Whitner on Gates vs. Scott on Gates. Scott actually makes a play on the ball, not on the receiver after he catches the ball. You are insane and your limited knowledge of football is standing out more than ever before. When you first argued me you said it was because Whitner played so many positions, now it's because he plays different areas of the field he sucks? Give me a break. He isn't very good except on the run. He's EXTREMELY below par otherwise. Not 1 INT, not one PD in 2008. Only 1 INT on an overthrow (he didn't make a play on it) and 1 PD in 2007 He isn't very good.

But Al Gore said it was settled science....
StupidNation replied to erynthered's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
You are still blatantly ignoring that a scientist said that he can talk freely because he wasn't under the funding perils of speaking against the Great Heresy. It makes your quoting of links more silly because these groups live and breath off the incomplete knowledge that we don't know the cause, and more than likely it's not by us, but they have to pretend to be resolved in their stand otherwise the money goes bye-bye. Irrespective of that I expect you to look more critically and objectively and recognize there is no way of knowing yet. On the one hand it may be true, and on the other it's a money-grab. I say if the science was so conclusive why don't they allow open dissent or why fear losing their grant money? If they were so sure they would allow the discussion, but as my friend from the University of Michigan, whose a professor there, told me they won't allow it or they lose the money and that he knows full well that they must repeat the party line. Sounds very scientific right? -
Something tells me he sat down with Jauron and Co and told him to feature him more and he would take more responsibility. It's part of the reason you aren't seeing Fred Jackson play. Fred always gets carries, so why was he absent? My guess again is Lynch or his agent laid down some laws for the team or he would protest. I might be wrong, but something seems awfully weird that Jackson didn't play while he was healthy.

And I can bet all of them take gov't money to fund themselves nicely. That link provided gave this gem: “Since I am no longer affiliated with any organization nor receiving any funding, I can speak quite frankly….As a scientist I remain skeptical.” - Atmospheric Scientist Dr. Joanne Simpson, the first woman in the world to receive a PhD in meteorology and formerly of NASA who has authored more than 190 studies and has been called “among the most preeminent scientists of the last 100 years.” I made it easy for you to read what really happens, just like lawyers who are ambulance chasers. When they are getting paid from destroying lives the laws are good, but privately they know they suck and destroy careers. Bottom line, when you are getting paid for saying what helps you get paid why stop? -
In the beginning Trent threw some WR screens, and I haven't seen Trent on one WR screen since the Raiders game. JP was allowed to throw a few. Also, in the KC game we did roll-outs with Trent, haven't seen it since. Maybe they are trying to be creative so the next game they are conventional and beat the other team mentally. LOL The reality is, you want to dictate to the opposing D the looks they see and CREATE mis-matches. For that reason alone Turk and the coaching crew has to go. Other than the KC game I haven't seen it. They even threw in a double play-out out of the shot-gun.

No you didn't. Test, Moore, and Carr, nuff said. It shows you don't know what a flip-flop is. Never said his numbers were bad. I never said that so you don't know what you are talking about. You haven't answered any direct challenge with proof. Your words are GARBAGE without proof. You have no proof, so what are your words? You guessed it... Show me where Evans EVER averaged 6.8 catches in 7 games EVER. AZ? HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Boldin and Fitz would be #1 here, maybe even Breaston. Dallas? Williams and Owens would be #1 here. Philly? That rook has played better. NE? Welker and Moss would be #1. Indy? Wayne, Harrison, would be #1. You have no idea what you are talking about. Evans would be a #1 on probably 10 teams in the league, teams like Miami (maybe), Saints, Raiders, and Vikings. Since you won't accept 6.8 is rounded up to 7 in math schools worldwide, show me where he averaged 6.8. That was my statement and 6 doesn't equal = 6.8 which is seen as 7. Evans has NEVER DONE IT. Stop trying to lie. I'll tell you what, you show me where Evans goes over the middle and makes himself available to be smashed to give the QB more options and I'll concede. I'll wait, because he doesn't. Evans doesn't play the middle and is not tough. I've never seen anyone consider a WR to be a #1 who won't play over the middle. If Evans was willing to do the things Smith does I'm sure he would be targeted more. Also, when Andre Goodman, CB on the Dolphins, a pick-up out of FA who has been nothing, blankets your #1 and has 2 PDs because there is no separation you can't possibly tell me that would happen with Smith would you? I watched that game and Evans was getting so separation from a no-name CB Goodman.

Lose out and draft a franchise QB
StupidNation replied to jms62's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Trent's close to top 10 now. He around #12. That's not bad. I don't know what more we expect. If you want a top 5 QB you have to get lucky or invest numerous years and 1st rounders before it happens. Look at Carson Palmer who was good before the injury. Trent is good enough if he can stay on the field and we get a legit threat at the #2 position with a decent TE. -
Let me tell you this, when Matt Freaking Moore is involved with your games you have no shot. Matt Moore played in 8 games, Matt Moore that was undrafted. So your next argument is that Moore wasn't in all those games, but Vinny Testeverde? Did you know he was 44 years old last year? How about the great David Carr? You see you are making excuses, and yes if you average 6.8 catches you average 7 catches a game. They taught you rounding up in school didn't they? Let's give you the benefit of the doubt, tell me the last time Evans averaged 6.8 catches a game with a 44 yr old who no one signed, a bust, and the 3rd QB who was undrafted. Tell me how Evans would do. Exactly. My point is Smith is not in the same league as Evans, he is so far superior in every way. Evans is not physical, and he plays that way. You never see him go over the middle and one time I saw him run a slant towards the middle with JP and and he stopped and JP threw a pick. He's soft. Put Evans in Car and he becomes #2 to Mohammed. Put Smith here and he's #1 and makes Trent a much better QB who has options up the middle. Evans is not as great as you think, but he is pretty good. He wouldn't be #1 if TJ Housh was here if that give you any indication as he's not tough enough. Let me ask you this, if you ran a slant for 1st down how many other players would you put over Evans to make that play slanting to the middle? I would say at least 20. He's a 1b receiver, that's about it. He doesn't take over a game. He's a better version of Devery Henderson.
-
Think about what you said... if Evans had those #s we would be saying he's the 2nd coming. Can you tell me the last time Evans averaged 7 catches in 7 games? Please, I would love to know. Next throw in Matt Freaking Moore as QB. Case closed as Matt Moore would be lucky if Evans averaged 3-4 catches a game. Evans does not get nearly the separation as Smith, he doesn't run the middle of field. Matt Moore, nuff said...
-
Actually, he did just fine without Delhomme. If Delhomme was on this team he would've been run out of town by the way. Smith averaged 7 catches per game in the last 7 games without Delhomme with no less than 5 receptions, so again, you should learn what you are talking about. I watched a great segment on NFL Network on how great Smith is with lesser QBs, and while I don't piss in my Cheerios with fantasy crap, I watch a lot of games. The NFL Network showed how Smith was getting open for lesser QBs. Who was the QB who he had 10 receptions with? 40 yr old Testaverde. Who did he have those averages of 7 catches in the last 7 games? Matt Freaking Moore. You lose, you don't know what you are talking about, you should go study the game, you should learn how unbelievable Steve Smith is. You are pissing that Smith didn't do more for FF, instead of realizing how good he played. Did you know that Evans has never had 87 receptions in his career? Smith did it in 15 games last year with Carr, Testaverde, Moore, and Delhomme. I guess your point was he didn't have monster yards per game, but he moved the chains, got open and was a safety valve for bad QBs. Tell me the last time you've seen that from a WR and you'll realize how special he is.
-
I guess you don't read well. Here are his numbers from last year with Carr, and other lousy QBs: Steve Smith: Year Age Tm Pos G GS Rec Yds Y/R TD Lng R/G Y/G Att Yds TD Lng Y/A Y/G A/G YScm RRTD Fmb 2007 28 CAR WR 15 15 87 1002 11.5 7 74 5.8 66.8 9 66 0 22 7.3 4.4 0.6 1068 7 1 He caught 87 passes for 1000 yards in 15, not 16, games. What does that tell you? The great ones make it easy on QBs, the ok ones need great QBs.
-
There is no way to compare Evans and Smith. Smith gets #s with any QB. Evans can't. The great WRs get receptions and make plays. Evans doesn't and just can't. He was blanketed in the first game with the Fins for crying out loud. That was the first time I studied Evans and he wasn't getting open.

I guess the KC game doesn't count? 2 TDs thrown, 2 run in.

Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan Look like All Pro QB's
StupidNation replied to taterhill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's the problem with "fans", they only remember the worst. Go look up Flacco's GAMES and not one game. Tell me how he played last night. I watched the game. You guys are a joke. Flacco has looked worst than Edwards this season, which is your comparison not mine. BTW, Flacco threw for about 130 yards 1 TD and 1 INT last night. -
Do you have any confidence in J.P. Losman?
StupidNation replied to DIE HARD 1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Murra, ok fess up, you are not a good judge at football. Trent has shown 10x what Losman has. -

Flacco has locked worse than Edwards. Look at their teams as well, not just wins/losses. I know it's a novel idea.
