so i guess you guys will be lining up to kick sullivan
StupidNation replied to jester43's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Earlier this year Sullivan praised Edwards several times, and a couple of years ago praised Losman when he was playing decent. He's not always a cynical but he's more so than not. Negative statement statement sell well then good statements. Frankly, I think he's been more objective with this team then people give him credit for. When your team cannot make the playoffs since 99' there isn't much positive to play off of. -
Time to rethink the Tampa 2 Defense
StupidNation replied to Bufcomments's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Whitner cannot be a LB. He's too short. -
Evans is not a #1. He's Peerless Price in his prime, or Avery of N.O with better hands. Both need a Colston or Moulds to bring out their best. He's not worth the $9 mil, no matter what someone makes in 2 years from now. The original poster is correct and sadly Evans is not a #1. On the other hand, did you watch that screen to Evans last week? He stiff armed the guy and got 10 yards. He needs to be able and willing to run over the middle. He clings to the sidelines and I don't think it's just the OC, he just might short-arm everything in the middle because of fear. I've seen him on some slants and he doesn't run them with conviction. I honestly believe he hates contact and he's not physical enough. If it were up to me I would run him in some reverses once every other game, 1-2 screens a game, 1-2 slants a game, 2 20-50 yard deeper routes, and a few curls. Make him earn the paycheck. Right now he's covered like glue. If anyone says Lee would get the ball and "just throw it to him" watch the first Dolphins game in the 3rd and 4th quarters where he's blanketed and 2 balls are swatted away when he got no separation.

The Pats line gets away with holding blatantly all the time. Mix in the FA pick-ups because they are "champs" and you have a system which masks issues. Cassell may be good, but odds are he won't be without the Pats* benefits of refereeing. Tell me how Givens and Branch have looked without the cheating and the extra time by the O-line. I'll take Edwards right now until Cassell proves himself. So far he's a system QB. Edwards was rated the highest QB out of HS and 2nd to Vince Young.

Bryan Scott/Donte Whitner
StupidNation replied to BBfan4lifeJH81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Whitner did play FS and has been since the Chargers game. -
Everything now is "hate" instead of reason. Reason dictates before his injury he wasn't making plays. Reason dictates he's not a ball-hawk at any position. Reason dictates that he misses tackles in the secondary and takes bad angles. I would love him on 3rd and 1 and other obvious running downs, otherwise he is a liability. He's Roy Williams except without the consistent hard hitting and worse in coverage. I wouldn't be upset with his play if he was drafted in the 4th or 5th round and a commensurate salary.

Trent Fans Bash me all you want
StupidNation replied to commish95's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why repeat anything else after this excellent analysis. Read above and contemplate. We don't have a Brandon Marshall or a Fitz or Boldin. We don't have a true #1 or a true #2. We can't say what will or won't happen without the talent to play the positions. Evans, no matter what, is not a true #1 and should not have been paid like one. If you think he's getting open and Trent doesn't trust him watch the first Miami game in the 3rd and 4th quarters where he's blanketed and 2 passes become PDs simply because Evans wasn't open and had no separation. Secondly, did you watch yesterday's game? Marshall and Royal were both open most of the game. A true #1 like Marshall makes a rookie like Royal look that good. -
If Scott didn't hold the WR up would Whitner make that play? He's not that good. Actually he's down-right below average in coverage. He can help stop the run and here he's above average. I've seen him break up some plays in the back-field and he's stout on seeing the field against the run. He's so terrible in coverage he shouldn't be on the field. I would take the rookie Corner with no experience who tries to make a play on the ball over Whitner at FS.

Fred Jackson reminds me a lot of Thurman...
StupidNation replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Some people have been saying he's better for a while. -
I can see Parrish in some situations as a #4. I don't see Hardy developing with his ACL. I agree with you and it would make Reed even better at #3, and it would make Evans better at #1, where Evans has been struggling.

A Few Thoughts About The Game
StupidNation replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
3 plays in particular stood out to me, Royal running right past Whitner on the 70 yarder, another running play in open space where Whitner whiffed, and the INT he should have made if he was playing the F'ing ball. On top of that there were several plays he showed up late after the tackle. No aggression on reads, no attacking the ball, and no feel in the secondary on assignments. If you want to know why no one was around it's part of the FS's job to pick the side of the field you think the ball is going to. I watch him closely every game and he isn't a FS or a SS that changes games. Kelsay has to go or be depth, same with Whitner, and Ko. -
And the game ball goes to...

A Few Thoughts About The Game
StupidNation replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ko isn't great, but Scott plays better than Whitner. He's around the ball more and he tries to do more in a game. Whitner was only there to cause the fumble because Scott held him up. Whitner was toasted over and over again today and whiffed miserably on some plays. Whitner has to get replaced. The coaching staff has so little faith in him he's playing deep center field and does nothing out there. Safeties in the Cover 2 do even more than average roles. His only role is to let the guy catch the ball and try to drill them. He's so terrible in the secondary I just feel bad for him. He's not a good football player but he would make ok depth. -
A Few Thoughts About The Game
StupidNation replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My only issue is with #1. Whitner was a goat out there for most of the game. The play where he caused the fumble was not because of his efforts, but because Scott held the player he drilled. It is his fault for the way he plays. He never plays the ball but the player. He took some bad angles again and I hope we find his replacement in the off-season. -
My thoughts on the Bills Vs Broncos today!
StupidNation replied to marauderswr80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Loved a lot of what you said, but Whitner is a major liability in coverage AGAIN. Trent makes the team look better and Reed is a great safety valve that just finds a way to back back to the ball and make a play. We still need another WR big-time. Honestly, we are lacking a #1 receiver like Marshall who is basically always open and is too physical to be stopped one on one. Corner stepped up wonderfully today. And God bless Fred Jackson. -
I wonder if your "bigotry" only applies to others and not yourself. Bigotry comes in all shapes and sizes. Bigotry is a label masqueraded as a virtue. The queers are pushing their rights above the rights of the people and have been. This is a state issue and the state has spoken. It's bigotry against the people who don't want the disease of being queer being spread as normal. That's bigotry.

Peters for Boldin. I'll take it.

Bills looking to trade Peters
StupidNation replied to AlbanyBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He had 2 games where he was very good and pro-bowl material. There are games, actually most this year, where I wanted Kirk Freaking Chambers to play. His hold-out screwed up team chemistry. I'm glad they didn't pay him. He's only proven himself for 1 year, and this year was actually below average, and suffice it to say I would have preferred the play of Mike Gandy for Arizona (yes, that Gandy) than Peters this year, but certainly not last year. To me he's not worth it. I would take my picks and run with them. I will take the Tony Ogohs of the world and work with them and use the picks. If you pick 3 guys in the top 3 rounds 2 of the 3 usually pan out without all the fan-fare and hold-outs. I'll take my chances at this point where he thinks he's God and he's played like Wonder Woman. -
Bills looking to trade Peters
StupidNation replied to AlbanyBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tony Dorsett's trade changed the Cowboys into perennial winners. Peter's hasn't transformed us at all this year. He deserves the nod last year, and now he SHOULD be traded if we can get a 1st and some other 1st day picks. I'm all for it. Pats traded Deion Branch and got a few 1sts for him. Great teams know that one dominant player isn't that important unless it's the QB position. I would love to build the trenches, but I know Peters is holding out next year and we did just fine without him for the first 2 games. I'm not that impressed with him as a game-changer, unless you are talking about changing the game by allowing fumbles and inopportune sacks. I would be all for Peters getting an extension and a pay-day if he showed up. He set us back with his selfishness. Sorry, that's not a guy I want on my TEAM and if I can build the trenches with higher draft picks from the Peters trade I do it. I won't miss what he brings to the team right now. He's no Orlando Pace or Walter Jones in their primes. -
Lack of talent on this team
StupidNation replied to TheBlackMamba's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As of right now, yes, I would take Jones. He has a veteran way about him that just knows how to do what he's supposed to do. Now if you compare Lynch to Jones in 2 years, with Lynch in 2 years from now to Jones of today, I might change my mind. Lynch's biggest issue in my mind is lack of vision. He runs ferociously with a lane, but he needs a clear lane. I've yet seen him do the little things, that even Fred Jackson does, like dive quickly for 2 or 3 yards at the last second real low to get a 1st, or stop looking for the homerun on every play when that's not your style. Lynch has great upside IMO, and but I'm not sure about greater talent. Jones played pretty unbelievably for the Bears and pretty good under the Jets. -
And this is from the guy who thought JP was the answer. LOLOLOLOLOL Trent may not be great, but for a 2nd year guy with no real #2 he's pretty good. He's played decent in 7 games with no great games, and some stinkers. Overall I'm happy with that for a 2nd year guy with no true #2, or #1 depending on how you look at it as I really don't consider Lee a true #1. He also did that before the running game showed up.

Buffalo had no business keeping JP on the roster
StupidNation replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The case could easily be made that TE did win those games on Offense simply because we had no running game. Our running just got on track and the blocking has just turned around. To say that we would have won with 60 yards rushing and JP-esque 130 yards passing is insane. Trent was passing for about 240 yards per game that stretch and fairly consistent with the exception of the Oakland game during the 5-1. You don't win many games with 190 yards of offense if you take the JP factor and add in our running game.
