  1. The guy who made the comments RB problem on NFL.com is Steve, not Sam. Steve's bio says nothing about ever being a coach.
  2. I went back and re-read the article and quite frankly, I still don't know what all the fuss is about. My take is that he thinks it's a shame that Miami week doesn't automatically cause a widespread frenzy throughout WNY.
  3. Are you referring to Sam Wyche?
  4. Well said. I'm not sure I buy the 99.999% statement, but your point is valid. As an aside, and as an outsider, I think the Buffalo News is pretty good for what it is. (flame away)
  5. He turned the Bills down, from what I understand. Maybe he doesn't have the balls for the job at hand? That's the word the team is trying to spread. You'd think that it's about time Snyder figured things out. In the 10 years he's owned the team he acted like he was in a fantasy league buying all sorts of "sexy" names with little to show for it. But he seems to be a born meddler, so maybe this won't last long.
  6. Wonder if Albert Haynesworth is one of the players surveyed.
  7. If they are capable of running up the score -- I'd rather see the Bills do it in Miami. Nothing is as satisfying as humiliating your opponent in their home town.
  8. Wow! You're going to find time for a game on your honeymoon?
  9. I'm not saying Shanahan isn't a good coach, but some guy named Elway might have had something to do with those Superbowls. After Elway retired Shanahan had some good teams and some average teams. He was 500 his last three years in Denver (7-9, 9-7, 8-8). Maybe he needed a change of scenery to recharge his batteries -- or maybe he needs to find another Elway. Whether Shanahan is head and shoulders above Gailey is something we won't be able to figure out for some time, however. I'm content with Gailey -- but time will tell.
  10. Help me with the math, Doc. Why would the preseason games matter and not the regular season games?
  11. Same here -- looks like I have no excuse to not clean the house on Sunday.
  12. Washington Post columnist Michael Wilbon was interviewed on a Washington DC area news station this morning and said he thought the Washington NFL franchise with the racist nickname (my words not his) could win nine, or maybe 10 games this year and even contend for a playoff spot. The basis of his prediction? The team acquired Mike Shanahan and Donovan McNabb, and called them two key factors. That got me to thinking about why the Bills are getting no respect. That's because they have last year's QB and a coach who is not as highly regarded as Shanahan. It has nothing to do with the relative level of talent, team chemistry or some quantitative measurements. It's strictly "image" and whether the team did what the "pundits" said the team should have done. Bills didn't get Shanahan (or Cowher or some other "sexy" big-name coach) and they didn't "upgrade" the QB position. Ergo, they must suck. Just my two cents.
  13. I don't know (he says with more than a hint of sarcasm), based on the power rankings the Jags and Lions are poised to become juggernauts! Nonetheless, as one earlier poster noted, selling more that 40K season tickets is not too shabby given the economy and the team's recent history of mediocrity. Also, IF the Bills start strong out of the gate, individual ticket sales for even the Jags and Lions should do well.
  14. Ditto. It's almost as funny as the stuff I've seen on ESPN, SI and other sites.
  15. What I find interesting is that although USA Today thinks the Bills will go 8-8, they still think the Bills will be 4th in the AFC East. I can buy the 8-8 prediction, but I have a hard time believing that 8-8 will be the bottom of the AFC East.
  16. John, I'm sorry, could you type a little louder? I couldn't hear you!
  17. To each his own. Some people like Peter King, others don't. The people who like him read his columns. The people who don't, don't. There's a lot of "product" out there and King doesn't have a monopoly on information.
  18. I'm not indifferent, I think he's an overrated fat tub of goo. If that bothers you, I apologize. But as I said, his columns provide no value to me, so I don't read them.
  19. I don't read Peter King anymore and haven't for several years because his opinions are the equivalent of throwing darts at a board. I am over it.
  20. I think it's Merle Haggard/Dr Zaius.
  21. There's an earlier thread based on this prediction. Read the comments to the story -- nobody is buying that argument
  22. Makes sense. The agent needs his percentage of the players' salary in order to buy his new Ferrari or pay for his wife's latest plastic surgery, so let him do the leg work. That very well could be. In fact, didn't Ralph Wilson slip Al Davis $500K or so to keep the Oakland Raiders afloat way back when. I don't think any teams will be doing each other favors today with the new breed of owners like Dan Snyder and Jerry Jones
