  1. Agreed -- and I expect Spiller to easily top 1K in all purpose yards
  2. It's easy to be bold with OPM (Other People's Money). But you're idea is a real diamond in the rough. LOL Why don't you line up the financing, acquire the land, get necessary goverment approvals and let us know how it turns out.
  3. That could be, but I prefer to interpret the comments as Chan knows how to coach, unlike (fill in the name of your favorite whipping-boy coach here).
  4. That's why I can't wait for 1 p.m. Sunday. It'll be good to watch a coach who knows what he's doing (I hope!)
  5. I've had DirecTV for about 10 years - got it for Sunday Ticket. If it weren't for Sunday Ticket I probably never would have gotten DirecTV. That said, I have no real complaints with their service or channel offerings. Installers can be a dicey situation though, especially if you want something "beyond" the bare minimum, like fishing lines through walls. I've had three, two were decent to good -- the third was a loser. But I consider that my fault for not paying enough attention when he was working.
  6. So do you think they'll play a cat-and-mouse game with formations that look like they could be a wildcat ... or maybe something else, too? That could be interesting.
  7. It's nice to read Sparano give props to Chan: "he’s done whatever he has to do to move the football and he has utilized his personnel as best he can." Sounds like he's not willing to underestimate the Bills' new coach.
  8. Oh you're so witty LOL Earlier in this thread I asked you what the other six wonders are, and do they have sports arenas built on top of them? You never answered me, dummy. LOL
  9. Actually, it's a typo. "were" should have been "where." I grovel at your feet for forgiveness. And if you can't help yourself when you read poor grammar, you must spend a lot of time correcting posters on TSW. But if it's the use of the singular verb with "none," I have to defer to my copy of the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language (3rd Ed.): "either a singular or plural verb is acceptably used." "Both are acceptable beyond serious criticism," says Merriam-Webster's Dictionary of English Usage. Since the word is etymologically derived from the Old English word for "one" I prefer to use the singular verb. Sorry, but sometimes when someone says I'm wrong and I'm not ...
  10. Apparently the Jets found the dollar level that makes fans say "no thanks"
  11. I was responding to Bills1960. Maybe you should try reading through the thread. LOL Your idea is so wrong on so many levels. First off, I used to live in Niagara Falls and know that the US side has a crap view of the falls. You want a good view, go to Canada. Second, LOL the land around the falls is owned by NY state. It's part of the park system. It would be a bureaucratic nightmare to even think about buying up that land. Third, who's going to pay for it? NY residents already suffer under an onerous and crushing tax burden. There's an old saying: there's no such thing as a stupid question. Whoever came up with that never read your OP.
  12. From what I've read the past few days about 85 percent of the posters, because it's been a non-stop stream of "they're mean to us" posts.
  13. The Jets' owner said he's going to buy up the unsold tix so the game won't be blacked out. But the story says a league rule lets him "buy" the tix at 34 cents on the dollar. Wish I could be tix to sporting events for 1/3 their face value! If he wasn't trying to screw the fans with overpriced tickets and outrageous personal seat licenses, he might not have found himself in such an embarassing situation.
  14. Mike is right. When the Bills start winning, and winning consistently, the team will respect.
  15. I'm not sure that saying a team is going to win is a sign of disrespect. I remember back when a Green Bay-Tampa Bay game would be called the Bay of Pigs on ESPN. That's disrespect. But you're looking for insults were none was given.
  16. If the Dolphins are favored and the Bills win, then I believe that qualifies as an upset.
  17. Comparing the two preseasons -- it's night and day, as you point out. However, come 1 p.m. Sunday we can throw all the analysis out the window, because this one's going to count. I'm thinking 8-8 is on the optimistic side, but that's what I'm hoping for.
  18. I guess that's better than getting herpes or the clap
  19. well said
  20. reading some of these threads reminds me of this Monty Python skit
  21. Actually, we're just trying to kill time until 1 p.m. Sunday.
  22. Sorry for any confusion. Not implying that Plunkett is Hall of Fame material. Rather that he was probably considered a bust until he got to the Raiders -- and into a system that allowed him to be successful.
  23. Don't forget about Jim Plunkett -- he has losing records with the Patriots (there were games in which he looked like a tackling dummy) and the 49ers. It wasn't till he got to the Raiders that he enjoyed success
