  1. Ain't that the truth
  2. We don't know who is going to be on the roster next year, but you can bet your ass that I want to see players who know what it takes to win and who know how to win and who hate to lose. What's real low on my list of priorities is who the Bills take as their first draft choice.
  3. No, if they didn't want Thigpen or Smith, they wanted Brohm or Michael Vick (or even Jeff George!). I guess that says something about "fans."
  4. I wonder if maybe we should add something to the Terms of Service stating you can be removed for egregious stupidity. I'm all for that, but such an action would eliminate about 97 percent of TBD posters.
  5. Gotta give him credit -- he came up with a good line!
  6. I was very happy with this win -- and it was fun to watch the Bills come back from a deep hole and to see Bungles go down in flames (never been an "ohcocinco" fan). I just think we need to temper our enthusiasm with the reality that the Bungles had some key injuries. That said, screw the Bungles and Marvin Lewis. I just wish it wasn't the Steelers that is up next on the schedule.
  7. I did enjoy that game -- but we shouldn't get carried away with our enthusiasm, because the Bungles secondary was depleted by injuries. That said, tought beans for Cinci, and for Marvin Lewis. Hope his arrogant butt gets fired.
  8. Some of the players on this year's team will be on next year's team. I want to see players who know what it takes to win a game and who hate to lose a game. When the Bills have a solid core of players like that, then the team can go far. Rooting for losses just to get a "No. 1" draft pick is like playing the Lotto. It's a chump's game.
  9. what are your criteria for being a moderator? What is expected of a volunteer?
  10. Can't argue with that logic. The most sensible answer I've seen so far.
  11. I'm sure all teams do that, or something like it. That way the make it appear that they value your opinion, rather than just your money.
  12. It has nothing to do with anyone's "love affair" with Vick. He did some awful stuff (and it was to animals and not humans. If if did that stuff to humans he's still be in jail and we wouldn't be having this conversation. But he was tried, convicted and sent to prison. It was a real jail -- not one of these day spas that are reserved for white-collar criminals. He seems to be changed by the experience, so I say he deserves a second chance. From my perch, you sound like someone from the Spanish Inquisition or the Salem witch trials. It's not for us to decide who should burn in hell. That is in the hands of a higher authority.
  13. The issue, as I see it, is that Vick is flourishing under Andy Reid. Would he, or could he, do the same under the Bills coaching staff. That's not a criticism of the Bills' coaching stafff -- I just wonder if Vick's resurgence has more to do with Reid or his coaches than with Vick's maturity. That's a big question mark -- and frankly, I'm not sure I want to place that kind of bet on him. That said, I think Vick's transformation this year has been mind-boggling.
  14. The only games that I've seen blacked out on Season ticket are games that are shown in the local market -- in my case the Washington, DC, franchise with the racist nickname. However, those games are shown on local TV -- and since I'm in the Washington market -- so it's a non-issue. Basically, the NFL has a product to sell. If you want the product, you pay for it. If you don't want it, don't pay for it. Perhaps at some point in the future, we'll be able to pay for Season ticket on an a la carte basis -- that is only the teams we want to see. But until then, we have two choices: pay for the entire package, or not. I've chosen to pay for he package so that I can swear at the Bills for 16 Sundays a year.
  15. That's the attitude!
  16. From the Detroit News post game story: Leading rusher Jahvid Best had 35 yards on 17 carries (2.1 average). "That is an NFL team, and running the ball is hard in the NFL," Hill said. Comments like this sound as lame in the opposing locker room as they did when Jauron made them. From The Detroit News: http://detnews.com/article/20101114/SPORTS0101/11140331/Sloppy-Lions-outdo-themselves--lose-25th-straight-on-road#ixzz15J1vOjGx
  17. I can't tell you how often I've lamented the loss of Empire since the rigas family screwed up. For both the Bills and the Sabres. I still keep Empire in my favorites list in the lame hope that the station might be revived.
  18. 11 penalties for the Lions -- and they're still in it!
  19. Jackson's down -- ouch. Bills don't need that.
  20. They showed him walking to the dressing room in the first half -- said something about a hamstring.
  21. I have a hard time taking seriously any football player who looks like Adam Sandler.
  22. If Fitz gets hurt, Brohm will play. Then we'll all see why Brohm's a bench-warmer, but the Brohm backers will find 1,001 reasons why it's not his fault that he sucks.
  23. Maybin could possibly be the worst player in the NFL. But until he actually spends time on the field, we'll never know for sure. As for his place in the Buffalo Bills' history of lousy draft choices, he has plany of competition. Other posters have mentioned McCargo and Flowers. But dig a little deeper and you'll find such busts as Walt Patulski (1972) -- described by ESPN in 2008 as the 27th biggest bust of all-time. Other notable misses include the 1975 first and second round disasters Tom Ruud and Bob Nelson and the 1983 tight end phenom known as Tony Hunter. Maybin might suck, but the Bills have a penchant for screwing the pooch in the first round.
  24. There's a social network for folks from Buffalo (actually all of Western New York), called the Buffalo Expat Network, the group is trying to build a network of (and for) Buffalo expats who live around the world and leverage the resources of that network to have a positive impact on Buffalo. It's a worthwhile venture. Here's a link if anyone wants to look into it: BEN
