  1. Although Lightfoot is still alive, he did have a very serious medical issue about 10 years ago. In 2002 Lightfoot was gravely ill due to an abdominal condition. He endured a six-week coma, a tracheotomy, and underwent four surgical operations. He also had follow-up surgery in 2003 to continue treatment on the conditon.
  2. I'm watching the game, but losing some interest because of the score. However, I was wondering if the Bills shouldn't be on the lookout for a CFL QB, since the NFL is turning into such a pass-happy league. It's not like the CFL hasn't produced some exciting QBs: Flutie, Warren Moon, Joe Theismann.
  3. Old enough to know better. And now I'm nearly old enough to retire. For all intents and purposes, I've wasted a lifetime following this sorry excuse for a franchise.
  4. Great player. Great guy. RIP, Ernie.
  5. That pretty much sums it up.
  6. I can't believe the Bills' offense couldn't score a touchdown against the Dolphins. .
  7. Sorry if this has been mentioned already -- but is anyone else concerned that the game is well into the third quarter and the offense hasn't scored a touchdown?
  8. I've got it on the NFL Network.
  9. And what, pray tell, is a "feild"?
  10. I see your point, thx for the elaboration.
  11. I don't follow you here. How is being "considered" a better team the same as "being" a better team. Please elaborate. Thx.
  12. But please, pass the dutchie on the left hand side
  13. Being "considered" a better team and "being" a better team are two different things.
  14. That's a generous offer. I can't use them, but I hope that someone -- who as you say normally can't afford a game -- can use them.
  15. I appreciate your logic and thoughtfulness. There is a lot to digest. However, Im not sure those two plays would have made the Bills a better team.
  16. I won't argue that point -- although I can't say I've seen the web site of every newspaper in the world. And, the News seems to have issues with technology in general -- but maybe the Buffalo mindset is living in the past and not the present or future. That said, the content is pretty decent.
  17. I'm guessing the game is a sellout because some local business forked over the money to buy the remaining tickets. If that is the case, it's too bad. Because I think a bunch of empty seats on the first "prime time" game in years would have been a statement abount fans' discontent with the team (not that OBD cares what the fans think).
  18. I'm not an economist, or an MBA, but I recognize that giving your product away for free is not a practical business model. I subscribed. It's not that big a deal. If I decide after a year that it's not worth the price, I won't renew. For what it is, the News is a pretty decent newspaper. It's not a great newspaper, but I've seen many worse newspapers in cities that are bigger than Buffalo. Bottom line, it all boils down to choice. As Rubes said, If you don't like the News? Don't pay for it.
  19. Think the Quebec Nordiques fans pissed themselves when the Colorado Avalanche won the Stanley Cup? Don't think so. Look at the facts: the Bills' future is not in buffalo.
  20. I'd look silly sitting in my family room with a paper bag on my head
  21. I say there are a few BIG differences. One of these teams has an owner who is 47 years old and is a metropolitan area that by most standards is considered very wealthy. The other team has an owner who is 94 and is in a metropolitan area that isn't considered wealthy.Given that information, I'd be willing to speculate that in five years, one of these teams will still be in the same place, and the other team probably won't be.
  22. I agree with the OP. This franchise will twist in the wind until there is an ownership change.
  23. That pretty much sums it up.
  24. Fitz had no business throwing that last pass. He should have thrown the ball into the 10th row instead. That way, the Bills could have punted and possibly have enough defense left (OK, highly debatable) kept the Titans out of the end zone. But since he threw the ball directly into the hands of an opponent, yes the loss is on him, Remember, the defense didn't have a stellar day. The best strategy today would have been to keep the defense off the field.
