Belichick: "What it takes to win" hasn't changed
notwoz replied to notwoz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, maybe these other coaches have the "same" philosophy. But he knows how to turn that philosophy into results. And it's not like this "HOF QB" just fell into his lap. Brady was a SIXTH ROUND pick. Every team in the league had multiple chances to pick the "HOF" QB. But they didn't. Belichick liked what he saw and did. -
Belichick: "What it takes to win" hasn't changed

The story addresses many of those issues. It's about more than just a quarterback. It's about a philosophy geared to winning. Read the story. -
https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/football-is-changing-bill-belichick-doesnt-think-the-keys-to-winning-ever-will/2018/09/26/23ed6776-c011-11e8-be77-516336a26305_story.html?utm_term=.4640e98898d5 An interesting piece on the dark lord of Foxborough from the "Washington Post." As much as I hate how he's dominated football and the Bills all these years, it's obvious he has a laser focus on producing the best team he can produce and has been able to adjust to changes in the game. Some samples from the story: "The Patriots are obviously a work in progress; the question is whether they can reassert their habitual discipline as Belichick layers on the work going forward. He relies on what players say is an extraordinary amount of monotonous repetition, until a concept is ingrained deep into their bones. Hand technique, foot placements. Precisely how to bat down a pass, how to shed a blocker, how to gain leverage. “There was no number on it until we got it right,” (Lawyer) Milloy says. And thinking about the thread showing McDermott yelling at the QB and receivers for not connecting: A quote from the dark lord himself: "if you can’t do things properly without resistance from an opponent, it doesn’t matter who they are, you’re in trouble. So, start with that.”

Can you translate that into something resembling English? I

The only stat that counts is 1-0 or 0-1.

After the various discounts applied to my account, I'm paying about $4 a month more than I would have without Sunday Ticket. Seems about right. But I do wish I could get a CFL package on DirecTV.

Quality Bills Jersey-Help
notwoz replied to MakeBuffaloGreatAgain's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The NFL authorized jerseys are probably made in China, too. But I'm assuming that the NFL cares enough about its brand to ensure that its jerseys meet their standards of quality. Not sure you can say the same about the knock-off sites. As the old saying goes: Buyer beware. -

I get DirecTV Sunday Ticket and record the games. If they win I watch. If they lose I delete. -

I almost never listen to them anymore. They offer nothing of interest. -
Truth be told, I've thought Tim Graham's writing abilities were overrated. Really, if I want "literature," I'll go to the library. If I want to know who's doing well in training camp or who came down with a gimpy leg, then I'll go to the local newspaper. During the season I want to read what happened during games and why. And while you're at it, get a few juicy quotes. I don't need to waste $40 to read that information. I subscribe to the BN for more than sports, so all I am asking for are some competent reporters who provide the day's news and not columnists with inflated egos. So I guess it's unlikely that I'll ever become an Athletic supporter.

Sullivan was nothing more than a contrarian impersonating a disinterested observer. He's a pretty good writer, but his schtick had simply grown tiresome. To tell the truth, I can't remember anything Bucky wrote: good, bad or indifferent (which is probably not a good thing for a columnist). However, Harrington is simply a nobody who confuses snark with insight. I hope he completes the trifecta.

Tom Brady ... would he be a good coach?
notwoz replied to notwoz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
His ego won't allow him to be a supporting player (i.e. a QB coach or offensive coordinator). But he does know how to win. -
We all hate the guy. He's an a-hole. But he really seems to be a student of the game. I think he might be a decent coach. Not necessarily a head coach. But I think he might have what it takes to be a QB coach or an offensive coordinator. Let's hear from the haters.

Most alarming is McDermott

"What I don't get is how guys get head coach jobs without ever being in that role." Think about that for a while. -

Mr Sunshine Sully Sullivan at it again
notwoz replied to baskingridgebillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sullivan's schtick is to be a contrarian: You say it's sunny, he says we need the rain. As another poster said, he picked on the new hires because they're inexperienced. If the Bills (and Sabres) had picked a retread, he would have said the team needs new blood. As a former journalist, I know his shite works, because it stirs up controversy and people complain about everything he writes. It's a time-tested tradition. Granted, he's had a fertile field to harvest for so many years, given all the missteps and bad hires and stupid drafts/trades, but I also realize that it's a very lazy way to do his job. He doesn't care because he collects a (probably more-than-decent) salary. The News doesn't care because he generates clicks. But the sad truth is he isn't going away anytime soon, because if he was so good, he would have been hired by a big market publication. So we are stuck with him. I'll end here because I need another glass of wine. -
Knowing what you know today about Kelly and Brady

Are you talking about Kelly with Brady's coaches and supporting players vs. Brady with Kelly's coaches and supporting players? Or are you asking who's better, Superman vs. Batman? -

Seems like a smart guy (I like the way he was taking notes while listening to Gruden).
