I didn't even have to watch a replay to see Wilson's facemask driving Trent's head backwards with great force. UNNECESSARY force. I saw Trent's eyes close and thought for sure he was knocked out. Then I made the comment in the thread I was in that Wilson intended to injure him and deserved a fine and a suspension. Since then a whole lot of so-called sports fans have chimed in and accused me of wishing for "girlie football" and all sorts of crap. Glad the League rubbed it in your faces so I don't have to.

Pretty sure Freddie Jackson has the most YAC on the club. He makes plays, so far, more often than anyone on the offense. The Bills, IMO, will be reluctant to even give up a DRAFT PICK for an aging TE with GAZILLIONS in guaranteed money the next three years , so again, IMO, they'd be even more reluctant to give up one of their best all-around offensive stars for him. Sounds like total bull sh-- to me.

Perhaps referees with an IQ higher than 12 would have been able to do that. This crew was as dumb as they come.

If Edwards is not back at least by the Jets game on Nov 09, I'm thinking the Bills are screwed. -

Why is everyone stressing about the AZ game
TheChimp replied to BILLS #1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What did that latest article say? You know, the one where they interviewed JP after the Arizona game? Where he said, and I quote, "now I know I have to be ready to step in at any time." Now? Really? Not before? Not this entire time? Awesome, JP, thanks a ton. It brings me back to that nighttime chat he gave to reporters after practice during the preseason, where he threw his coaches under the bus for his lack of production the last four years and shirked 100% of the responsibility for their decision to make Trent the starter this season. He was snotty and passive aggressive, and he continues to be a dum dum on the field and that doesn't help his case much. That pass to Evans made me think differently for about ten minutes. Then, as his 153.8 passer rating started to disintegrate with more and more downs to play and more and more stupid mistakes piling up, I realized that, no, this guy was NOT prepared to come in, and is a TERRIBLE teammate. I think the reason everyone, from the media on down to the Bills staff, are NOT calling this guy out for being a total dick is because they need to get VALUE for him, and to disparage him now would only drive his trade value down to nothing. As it is, there are at least six other NFL teams who could actually use this guy. We might as well talk him up as best we can until one of those teams grabs him up. Just my opinion. But back to the point of the thread. Our OC and DC had terrible game plans, and our players, almost to a man, played halfheartedly and wussyball all day long. That's why we lost so badly. -

When did Schobel turn into just another guy?
TheChimp replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Anyone mentioning Schobel's nasty foot injury in this thread yet? Just wondering if in our criticisms we are remembering he's been playing hurt. -
Say what you want, but any country who sends a harmless drug dealer to jail for life, when a guy can brutally slaughter hundreds of dogs for a living and get less then 5 years, is a !@#$ED UP country.

Post-game "reports" floating around these Boards seem to describe a Trent with no real concussion symptoms, and that fits with what I originally thought when I saw the hit in slo-mo replay. He basically got knocked out by a facemask to the jaw, like a boxer might by an upper-cut. But if the game had been played on artificial turf, over the usual thin pad and hard cement underneath, like at the Ralph, Edwards most certainly WOULD have suffered a concussion, and very likely a fractured jaw. No give on turf like on natural grass. But that's my guess, now, in retrospect. Trent got cold cocked in the jaw and that is what got the brunt of the hit, not the back of his head.
-
I saw that, too. Fewell's bad game planning was evident, as was Shonert's....and April's.....the whole bunch. On Defense, though, back to the point, what I was wanting to see was more of the no down linemen stances, I forget what that's being called, where they all stand and move side to side a yard behind the LOS and completely disguise their plans. Fewell hasn't had his guys do that since Week 2, though, and I wish he would.
-
Now THIS is a thread I can hang in! Awesome posts! The dude is getting NO better week by week.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if Trent's injury is actually more a FRONTAL one, much like a boxer gets when he gets clocked in the jaw. Wilson's facemask CLEARLY drives into Trent's jawbone, lifting Trent's own helmet about four good inches up his head. If your replay doesn't show that, you got a bad feed of the game.

Jauron refusing to throw the challenge flag, seeing that the ground actually caused the ball to fly out of Royal's hand, after being sent backwards, ending his forward progress, and having his knee about a millimeter off the ground, at maybe the most critical point of the game, in my opinion, was more to blame for this loss than anything JP did or didn't do today. No, JP wasn't spectacular, and did some dumb things with the ball, as he is wont to do even on his best day. But I blame Dickie J. for one simple reason. He was no Field General out there today, and that is what we needed most, in that all-out war declared by Adrian Wilson and Friends. Can Kawika Mitchell be coach next week, please?
-
Probably not. Pretty sure that if they called that play with Edwards in the game, Trent would have let that ball fly earlier, hitting Evans about ten or fifteen yards sooner, in stride, right as he passed the cornerback. Or he'd have abandoned it with that pass rush, and perhaps gone back to it when the rush wasn't in his face. Great play by Losman. One of a few. In a sea of bad ones.

Thank GOD someone in the media confirms what alot of us saw with our own eyes. To be clear, it wasn't Wilson's HELMET, per se, that drove Edwards' head backwards to create the force necessary for the back of his head to slam into NATURAL GRASS so hard to cause a concussion. It was literally Wilson's FACEMASK that he drove willingly and intentionally into Edward's jawbone, meaning he SAW what he was doing and didn't pull up, no, just the opposite. Again, that's natural grass Edwards landed on, not the usual cement floor under thin artificial turf. The ONLY reason he sustained a concussion is because Wilson intentionally tucked his head, grasped Edwards tight, and arched himself into the hit so Edwards' head was the first thing to hit the ground, with Wilson's entire weight behind it. If it WAS artificial turf, I shudder to think of what COULD have resulted. Edwards' injury could have been MUCH worse. Face it, if one seriously questions Wilson's intent to injure on his many hits today, they have TWO plays to look at, first the massace of Edwards after he released the ball, and then, later, the OBVIOUS rip of Lynch's helmet, followed by a KNEE to the FACE, which the ridiculously blind TV announcers even pointed out, in awe and disgust. The fact that neither of these plays even invoked a flag is indicative of the absolute sh-- we have for referees nowadays. Pure crap. And if people want to say I'm advocating sissy football because of this, or am being hypocritical, so be it. That's your right. But I've been watching this game for 30 years, and I recognize teams with a chip on their shoulder when I see them. Wisenhunt's entire squad was out for blood today. A blind gopher could see that. The only Bills player who seemed to realize this, and respond in kind, was Kawika Mitchell. Even Dick Jauron, with his sheepish refusal to toss the challenge flag when the replay clearly showed the ground causing Royal's fumble, seemed to be completely demoralized and listless today. Sickening to watch. Furthermore, I guarantee you that Kawika would welcome a fine of his own with open arms if the League actually intended to review Wilson's brutal tactics with as critical an eye as they seemed to with that questionable hit on Anquan Boldin a mere week previous. Talk about hypocritical. If the Cards want to continue to whine about the hit on Boldin, which was accidental at BEST, after Wisenhunt's clinic today on head hunting, then they re-define the word "Audacious", in my opinion. And if you think I'm just a homer, I also believe, always have, that Bruce Smith SHOULD HAVE been fined and suspended when he drove Boomer Esiason's head into the ground in that Jets game way back when, basically ending that guy's career. The way Edwards' career would have been ended today, had that game been played anywhere but on natural grass.

The Cowboys are #1? With THAT defense? LMFAO. All that game Monday night showed me was how utterly dreadful the Rams are. At least he didn't rank the Eagles above us, or I'd sh-- myself laughing. This season is going to make the "pundits" look like total assbags, that's my prediction.

Decent write-up. Bit longwinded but overall nice to read. Only guy he missed, and to me this was blatant, was Donte Whitner. He's MUCH more a key to the Bills defensive identity and success than Poz is, at this point, and easily more than Greer ever will be, and should have gotten that acknowledgement in this article. -
I assume one of two things. You said that just now to incite an argument, or you had yet to see the countless replays available, which clearly show, without even a shred of doubt, the ball going backwards a half-yard to a yard and hitting the ground. Not sure what your bent was, but if it was the latter, you might wanna watch the replay. And as far as the rule goes, why the rule change didn't apply to this play is still confusing to me. It seems the rule change would have made Hochuli give the Chargers the ball.
