  1. This is one of the problems with the combine. You can grade physical attributes, however, it doesn't necessarily correlate with natural talent. Ideally you want both, but I will take talent over attributes any day of the week. The question is whether Harris has the talent. Due to his so called stats he fell deep into the draft. Had he had 4.5 speed and 30 reps on the bench he would've been a 2nd rounder. He could out to be a huge steal since he was highly overlooked. Or he could be a complete waste of a pick. Let's see what he does on the field come this pre-season and then make the decision.
  2. The Bills will have 7 wins. and then 7 more.... and then 3 more... 17-2....
  3. How about Ray Bentley - he wrote the best selling Darby the Dinosaur children's series.
  4. I wouldn't be surprised if he negotiated a "no franchise" clause in his contract.
  5. He wants success and cash. With no cap, teams like the Redskins who are on the playoff brink and deep pockets will pay through the nose (a la the Yankees) to put together a championship team.
  6. People are missing the biggest issue. The 2010 season has no salary cap. If the 3 consecutive year 7-9 Bills make a playoff run with a "well behaved" Terrell Owens who puts up solid numbers. He immediately goes out to the highest bidder on a 1-yr monster contract ($10-$15mm) where the Bills will not match. If he plays poorly and/or acts up, he will call it quits at the end of the year.

  8. We are going to be the only team in the league running a 2-5 scheme this year...
  9. Is there a database of all of the NFL players wonderlic scores? The reason that I am asking is it seems the Bills are moving to a "more intelligent" team. I am wondering is Russ is trying to go a new direction. (I am aware the Peters scored low, but what about Dockery or the ex-Centers)
  10. Interesting historical analysis of the 2006 draft... http://www.lowdownskinny.com/Teams/Buffalo.htm He had Whitner coming to Buffalo at pick 42.
  11. Note that Keith Ellison came out of that draft in the 6th. So whether or not you like it, you have/had 4 starters and 7 players who are still on the team (9 if you include DiGiorgio and Neill who went undrafted that year). Reckon that most of them are role players, but scoring 7/9 (9/17 including undrafteds) is a decent draft, not stellar, but decent. Comparatively speaking in 2005 - they picked up Parish, Kevin Everett and Duke Preston (3/6) - not that great 2004 - Evans, Losman, Tim Anderson (3/6) - again not that great. 2003 - McGahee, Kelsay, Crowell, McGee, Aiken, Haggan (6/8) - better but I still ask why you draft McGahee when you have Travis Henry 2002 - Reed, Denney, Wire, Bannan (4/10) - Mike Williams biggest bust ever... And so on... I think 06 was better than each of those years.
  12. If they are covering him with a safety, they aren't using a linebacker... This quote is self-contradicting...
  13. Aaah yes, that would be a bad 2nd round pick. But when the pick was made, he was at least rated well by the "experts".
  14. What is quite possibly the worst 2nd round pick ever, one must pose the above question. In addition, if for some reason he makes the team, he could possibly become the most overpaid player in the league. As you recall.... "Should I be near a phone the next time the Raiders pick? Maybe they'll pick me.'' -- Tweet from sahyder1 to me on Twitter at 9:09 p.m. ET Saturday, following the Raiders' reach for wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey at 7 and the strangest pick of day one, safety Michael Mitchell, at No. 47 overall. How strange? Mitchell was the 73rd-rated safety on ESPN draftnik Mel Kiper's board. Not the 73rd-rated player. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writ...26/draft/3.html
  15. Interesting. It appears more people think Johnson is going to make the team over Hardy. (see poll 1/2)
  16. Thoughts on whether or not various players are going to make the team this year for salary or other reasons. Sorry for 2 posts, but dealing with system limitations

  18. That's what I would like to be doing... d@#! job.
  19. Hopefully TE isn't looking at these boards and is actually doing something productive, like working out or studying game film...
  20. If you are assuming I am TE, you are sadly mistaken.
  21. I am still convinced that TE was suffering from non-linear post-concussion syndrome. He shouldn't have been playing. Now that he has had ample time to recover, I think he will return to 75%+ passing accuracy...
  22. If and I mean IF the coaches have any clue on how to call plays, this offense should be devastating. From a pure talent perspective, this is the best set of skill position players we have ever had (yes, better than the early 90's). We have 3 receivers who can stretch the field (assuming Nelson is as good a pass catcher as they say he is), a good possession receiver in Reed and 2 1/2 great backs out of the backfield (Lynch only gets a half because he drops passes when he is wide open). The key to running this offense and keeping the pass rush off of Edwards is the following: 1. Throw the ball deep 4+ times a game - this will stretch the field and keep the db's back 2. Run 3+ screens a game - this will keep opposing teams from Blitzing 3. Run 6+ play action passes - This will open up the running game, as they won't stack 8 men in the box. If they do, we should be able to throw all day. The problem is all that is a big IF. What I don't understand is Turk is a product of Sam Wyche's old offense where Boomer Esiason was probably one of the best Play Action QB's in the game, yet we rarely, if ever run true play action passes. Bottom line, give them the proper play calling and this offense could be top 5 in the league with minimum negative plays. Give them the s@%##y playcalling we had last year and its going to be a long season...
  23. I am a big optimist with Butler playing tackle. He was our most consistent lineman last year and consistency is key. With an obvious upgrade at center, you will have 3 young guys competing for the guard positions (Levitre, Wood, and Bell) which should provide for some decent competition for PT, which should result in strong play. With this offensive line (and the addition of Nelson and Owens), I would expect to average at least 1/2 yard more per carry on the ground. I would also expect to see a fair share of "lookout" blocks in the first half of the year while these guys are learning the playbook. Let's just hope Trent stays healthy.
  24. It all depends how many draft day trades you can pull off. If you can pick up Scheffler and/or Henderson between now and draft day things would change, if not I would expect them to go DE, OL, TE, OLB, S, OL, WR...
